  1. The whole scenario is only blown up now because of how poor we've been and how bad our culture has now become. I still believe it was the right decision just handled poorly. Boston Celtics just traded out its franchise player Paul Pierce as it goes into a rebuild. Players aren't always going to understand the reason they've been let got, that's why their footballers not managers.. If Junior still holds a grudge I honestly believe he's the one who should look in the mirror and reassess whether now at GWS he'd keep Chad Cornes for another year. It sucked but move on mate you were a great club man, get back on good terms with the Dees.
  2. I'd like Col to stay, to be a Melbourne player for life. At the same time if he goes, I won't lose sleep. This year he has gone about his football the right way, and when the media has asked him to questions re his contract he's been completely honest. There's alot of hate for Sylvia particularly because he is the literal face for our disappointment.. High draft pick lots of talent but never worked hard enough and cops enormous abuse, but I've valued his 100% effort this year sadly in a year where we've had less leadership than ever I feel he stepped up to the plate. I had alot higher hopes for you Col, I'm sure you did too but thanks never the less.
  3. He left the cushiest job ever getting paid to talk footy, on upwards of a mill a year, to coach arguably the worst football team ever. You don't take that risk if you're not committed!
  4. He accidentally drop give the 'new sponsor' some vision just than?
  5. Lynden Dunn was actually proven in the paper about 4 weeks ago to be the best lock down defender in the league. He won more 1 on 1 contests than any single player in the comp. A decent feat at a good club, an incredible feat at a club like ours. I do not like Lynden a whole lot as a player, I think around goals he's incredibly selfish and I don't like his niggling tactics per say. That said, you must judge impartially and while he's played many poor years 6th in the best and fairest along with the stats I alluded too suggests he can kick his feet up this season and be proud of his personal efforts in 2013.
  6. Mike Sheahans son is an associate of mine. He wouldn't put a source to his inside word but said was 99% sure it will be announced at our best and fairest and flung me a little wink afterwards. He's either cheating on his wife with me, or Paul roos will be our coach next year.
  7. As per AFL new rules, any employed coach regardless of his club's standing is unable to announce a chance in roles until after the grand final. It was written into the new CBA, and is part of the Coaches Union new rules. If we were doing something with Tudor, like some above mention we would be unable to announce it until September. Maybe because of this, or whatever path we're doing Roos is calmly positioning himself so that all know he will be the man for the job, to appease the Melbourne supporters, but no big announcements will be made until they announce what assistants will be coming with him/ if we have a big name senior assistant. That couldn't be announced till later, so maybe we'd have to hold off till than. Certainly interesting scenario. I personally think it's far from a done deal. I do commend Roos for being brutally honest in this whole situation.. I would not be angry at him 'teasing' us like some suggest; quite frankly it's bloody nice to hear some honesty in our game, and to hear him explain how he's gone from no interest and 12 weeks later the nervousness he feels about should he dip his toes into the job was very interesting viewing. If he doesn't take the job, just in that interview he's spread the world to the AFL world that the MFC is no longer irrelevant. For that, Paul you've given me hope again.
  8. I had money on essendon for the spoon. $5 on essendon at 151-1 at Round 2. Knew this would always happen as the liability to the companies was too high after the Melbourne Storm insider trading fiasco. Unlucky for me, but as I said.. Was always going to happen.
  9. Our players were injected by Dank. Lots to play our here.

    GAME DAY

Very poor year for him.. He's always had poor skills but generally been good one on one. This year gone back a long way in my opinion.

    GAME DAY

Of course, that idiot took Sydney and StKilda to 4 Grand Finals!! He's useless!!! It's not the shizten players, it's that fitness guy! You're a [censored] mjt
  12. Heard anything about his team-mate Josh Scipione? Looks to be in PM best every week.. He was best on for the VFL team when they played WAFL or whoever they played, and hes also a small forward who works through the midfield.. a need for us?
  13. I wonder how the phone call goes to the 'stars' managers'. Good evening, Just enquiring to see whether your player has any interest in coming to the Dees. Our last 5 years of footy have been extremely successful in both wins and losses and in money revenue. Like almost all clubs our membership numbers are raising rapidly. What are your players thought's on our coach? ..... Or our board? ...... Never to worry about that, he can look to our development system to know in a few years he'll be surrounded by good footballers. Even when our development in the rarity fails, we do that elite club culture to fall back on, which we're confident will bring out the best in our players. We also had the classic scandal where we deliberately lost games, to get a draft pick.. Who left us anyway. We truly believe that decision has made us this strong club we are today. Now... If I was a manager I'd be surprised if I was still on the line to the second paragraph. Contrary to what the media tell us, players especially stars do not leave for 'non-expansion' money. The two close examples are Clark and Goddard. Clark has deep issues with Brisbane as a club, and it was clear he would take anything just to get out of there. He's on big bucks because Freo had buckets of it, but we had more. Goddard saw what everyone could see and jumped off the Titanic. He's stated he wants a premiership and he was lucky it resulted in good money at Essendon but it wasn't the reason he left. Our club has tried to quick fix before... Remember when we thought getting a few good draft picks would be the answer.. Bringing in a star in many instances is the same.. Paying a premium to skip out doing the hard work. It's not the answer. When Ted Richards left Essendon to head to Sydney he initially flopped. Dropped twice and spent 10 weeks in the 2's only getting back in after a season ending injury to their fullback who I can be corrected by I think was Craig Bolton... He was considered a flop. This year he will find himself in the AA squad. His last 3 years have been crucial in Sydney's brilliant growing dynasty of a team. Albeit not a star of the game, he is a star in his position created by a player who was an 'average player'. The club worked with him, and he wanted to work hard to get himself to this level... My gut feel is our club isn't pushing our players hard enough to force them to get the most out of themselves. I'd love to know how much extra running our blokes do outside of the club.. Sadly, I'd think very little. We could bring in 5 stars next year and for 3 years we'd be great.. But its wallpapering over the actual problem.. Get our development right. Back our blokes in, stop throwing out cash and make our 44 want to be the best possible players they could be. Right now, we look at Cameron Pederson as an absolute spud. This year he has been an unmitigated disaster, but like Ted Richards 10 years ago, Cameron has enough raw skills to be a good footballer but the club and he need to work together to make it happen. For the sake of all the ridiculous ideas I've posted on here before, I'm happy to say I can see Cameron ending up a good footballer, a required best 22. But not doing the workload he's doing at the moment. Like many at AAMI Park, they need to realise that right now they're simply not doing enough.. Come on Melbourne, for the life and sanity of all of us please work this out!!!
  14. Skill wise I agree but it's like comparing Selwood to Hodge. Viney will never have the footskills of O'Meara, but Jaeger will never have the heart or courage of Jack. I'd like both but I'm more than content that by the end of their careers they'll be compared to each other.. Which for both I think is a huge compliment.
  15. Can categorically state that Rory Sloane will not play for Melbourne. We've all heard how he felt let down by Melbourne, but we didn't just tell him we'd consider taking him ... he told our recruiters that he wanted to play for Melbourne. We told him and his family that if he was available at our pick we would take him. A rumour I heard was that he even told a club before us, I can't remember who, that he wasn't interested in them because he was confident he was coming to us! As the night turned out we betrayed him completely, and I just looked for it but there's an article that came out from him and his father post-draft that stated in no uncertain terms how much he was disappointed at falling due to one club. Nothing has changed.
  16. I'd also take from it that his opponent may be doing medicine, seems very switched on. Can see what the MFC haven't noticed for 5 years.
  17. Funny you mention that.. I actually thought it may have something to do with the fact that the only way Clisby could get off is if Sexton testified to say it wasn't his fault... I could be way overreacting to the whole scenario but I sense that Gold Coast may have made it clear that they won't help us out because we didn't help with Campbell Brown's... Just seems weird that both teams were challenging their respective charges and suddenly we have to turn ours down. MFC Twitter yesterday also retweeted the charge against Brown on Strauss which is normally uncommon so I had a feeling MFC were keen for him to get weeks for his dog act.
  18. Kicking him like a football would be dead set close to murder. Ridiculous. Even with brass knuckles if I lean them against you, they don't do damage.. You use them properly it's not just assault, it's assault with a deadly weapon. The same applies here.
  19. Im happy he got weeks.. But it begs the question if you throw a punch to the face, you get two weeks.. He has used a weapon in that of the studs of his boots and received only an extra week and that includes his history and bad record. Great that he's gone for the year.. But still confused
