  1. Christ our collars look likes dogs balls. You've done alot PJ, please as your last act of love, fix our jumper.
  2. Debateable. It's like an exam. My Chinese mate in Economics Shiyu (Gary Ablett) always got 100%. I never did, generally always 90% flat but on the grading scale we both end up with A+. All - Australian mids are all A+, which means the next 15-20 mids in the game make up A. Nathan Jones would be the second or best midfielder at every club bar I'd say four. In comparison, he's better than Sloane or Rockliff with what they have around them comparative to him. He made Mikes top 50 in a team that won 4 games, with one midfielder. The only other team that won a similar amount of games that year and had a top 50 mid involved was Gold Coast. No guessing who it was. He's not elite, he never will be but I think B+ is below what he deserves.
  3. Oh forgive me, I forgot our new machine Michie. Sincere apologies Jaded, but I have an erection.
  4. Let's just put our natural development hats on here for a second and imagine that no stupid expectations are placed but natural development is made. Our 2015 midfield could well look like: Jones, Tyson, Trengove, Vince and Viney. On the wings Toumpas and Watts. Swapping on ball we have *Nathan Freeman and short burst Dom Barry. Jones, Tyson, Trengove, Vince and Viney.. In my opinion there are no excuses for this midfield to be the last midfield in the comp even next year. That is adequate to at least break even in clearances every single week.
  5. That is exactly right. It's extremely common in the NFL and not so much over here. If your best available is on everyone elses draft boards at 9-15 why wouldn't you move back?
  6. He suffered a bad knee injury in 2012 which hampered his ability to play this year, but let me tell you this kid is fantastic. Another Oakleigh Chargers boy, who was in the young development squad when I was there he is an incredible inside player. Brilliant inside hands, and whilst not an enormous body a fantastic core that makes him look like he's always in control. Judd-like in the instance of being not enormously big, but looks completely comfortable on the inside. He would have played one year with Viv Michie too, which who knows if that had any influence. I too agree I would've loved to keep pick 21.. But to get upgrade 20 to 9, which should see us net Nathan Freeman *touchwood* this is going brilliantly. Just to recap this is who is coming to our club.. Jesse Hogan.... A ready to fire Viv Michie Pick 3 Dom Tyson The 9th best player in the country this year With potentially Vince, Cross or someone else to come, this team is turning around. And fast.
  7. Their round 1 pick and a player. If it'd been Hartlett deal would already be done so unfortunately can't see that being it. I gathered Matt Broadband a 21-22 year old mid who has been decent for them but no world beater. Not enough though for us.
  8. Just a few things I've heard around the traps. 5 or 6 contracted Melbourne players had meetings with Roos where he stated he would actively seek a trade for them if deals could be worked out would they be open to leaving. Unable to get any names on who but connecting dots and knowing they have to be under contract you could probably work it out if you had the time. Understanding Shiel was initially quite confronted by all the attention around him being traded. GWS trying to cool him down but home calling his name. MFC first day were 3% now in his mind easily 40-50%. Could go either way for him, but GWS also need to be satisfied which could provide a concern. I'd only heard of 2 clubs bidding for our pick 2 (not the 5 reported yesterday) but it was obviously GWS and also Port Adelaide. Lyons has little or no interest in coming to us due to settling down in Adelaide with new girlfriend I presume. Vince super keen on leaving Adelaide and it seems Adelaide are happy to move him on. Surprised we're paying pick 20 by all reports. Thought 36 could do it. Brisbane midfielder Ryan Lester was looked at as an ex Melbourne boy but Brisbane steming the bleeding on everything they can at this point. Collingwood super keen on few players I'd consider earlier than their picks 11,12 so may try and package to move up. Wasnt surprised to hear them going for pick 6. From the draft board, Freeman shot up some boards and was interviewed by a view clubs higher than expected by him and his party. Scharenberg and billings both didn't do any activities due to injuries and the latter has concerns which may see him fall considerably ala Grundy last year. Kelly interviewed well. That is not from MFC camp so can't say if he interviewed from us well, or even at all. GWS, Brisbane, Western bulldogs and another club also scouted Michie, who ultimately decided he wanted to come to us. As this final week heats up you do occasionally get some juicy stuff sadly so far not much, but will keep ears pricked.
  9. Noted. God, feels like that since finals though.
  10. Just on a further note, I know it was a given but I'm seriously glad the most important part of the ground, the midfield, is now coached by one of the best development assistant coaches in the game. Could not be more stoked and for an October this is going seriously well.
  11. Midfield and Strategy Coach for 2014. What Paul wants.. He gets. Might need him to have a word with my girlfriend. But back on track here's the club link! http://m.melbournefc.com.au/melbourne/news/2013-10-17/stone-joins-melbourne-coaching-staff
  12. BS. Should be shot if he takes it. We've got one decent footballer from trade and by the looks of it we'll get one more in Vince or Lyons. We don't need two more maybes from this off season, we need a star. Our best chance for that is pick 2 or gaining one from pick 2.. Pick 9 is too much of a risk. I can't disagree with you more and frankly the club shirking the issue of a future gun to pick up 2 good-average footballers would disappoint me.
  13. Could the MFC very cheekily pull off this.. GWS approached offered picks 2 20 and Jamar for pick 1. They're happy. In the meantime, MFC on the blower to Collingwood, we take 10,11, Sidebottom for number 1.. Pies get prized possession in Boyd and we get a good midfielder and good picks.
  14. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-16/michie-becomes-a-demon Why does noone want to come to us.. We're still a basket case blah blah. Not only did we get him, pick 54 is a stone cold ******* steal! This is so hard to say but,.. You did something right MFC!!!!
  15. 07 destroyed us. 08 wasn't ideal but I still hold some hope. Reading who we took and who we missed out on is actually heart breaking.
  16. Think it'll be Riewoldt for Collingwoods pick 11. No way they get rid of young good players
  17. Don't bother. Just because you put a whole lot of dollars into the club, doesn't mean [censored] for how much news you know about the clubs trading plans. If MFC are telling each and every well funded member our plans than the club is stupider than I thought. Demoneyes is thoroughly enjoying people caring about what he is saying, but after 50 rumours followed up by this is who I know and why you should believe me I gave up caring a week ago.
  18. Jamar is being traded moreso to get his money and contract of our books, as opposed to gaining us a great pick. Don't be expecting a Pick 20 back he'll be lucky to net us a third rounder
  19. Think some posters need to recall the respect board. Clark Kent has posted on a rumour board the rumours he's heard. If you don't like them, it's great because fair chance they won't be true but saying don't post them as you look like an idiot doesn't promote others to come forward with their rumours. We're all fighting the same battle here let's be a little more grateful, even if the resulting post isn't what you want to hear.
  20. Whether this is true or not, hopefully for everyone's sake it is I'm not sure I'm all for the Rockliff. It's another 4 year 800-900k a year job, we've got 2 of them already neither of which so far have been beneficial, and Brisbane have turned a PSD pick 1 into a Pick 2 in the National draft 4 years later. You can bring in other teams hard work but it'll never win you a flag on that alone, pick 2 should net you a Cotchin, and I feel like this is the safer lower risk smaller reward option but he's an enormous improvement so I won't complain too much.
  21. In the nicest possible way, you're a dope if you think not drafting skinny kids will bring success earlier. For every Ollie Wines who comes on the first year with a big body there is Luke Tapscott another 'big body' who fails just like the skinny kids. Dyson Heppell, Fyfe, Whitfield, Brad Hill, Aaron Mullett, Steven Motlop, Toby Greene and my new favourite example Chad Wingard are all skinny kids. You're overlooking our bad drafting and picking players, for their body size. It's not the types of players we picked that were wrong, it were the players themselves. Therein lies the problem.

  23. Nasher, seems ultra quick now which is brilliant. Only concern is there is no 'home' page.. Will this eventually change? I like where topics from both FAFFJH and the Melbourne section come up together..
  24. He's how I see our draft panning out. We trade pick 2 to a midtable club for a player and their first pick. Hypothetically, I'll use Collingwood. Sidebottom and pick 11 for pick 2. After compensation pick to us for Sylvia we will have picks 11, 21, 22ish. I believe the club are extremely keen on Zac Jones and will get him at 21,22. We could also hope one of Dunstan and Sheed fall to that spot below. A big bodied inside mid who is more ready made for this year would be taken here too. With our pick 11 we take a better skilled player.. Ideally Matt crouch falls to 11 but if not a running midfielder here. After our pick 22, we could have Sidebottom, Crouch, Dunstan and Jones to add to our team next year along with Hogan and hopefully Cross. We don't need to do a whole lot in the trade period, everyone worrying that no players want to come to us.. All we really need is one. I'm confident this draft is where we can do some damage and our eagerness to trade 2 is that we see some talent that will slide. If we could turn pick 2 into 2 players it'd be perfect!
