  1. Interesting, quite mixed which is what I expected. The master you're incorrect I don't think there's a 'saviour' at all! In fact we didn't draft a single back pocket, so we'd need to find from within. terlich played as a defensive forward at Norwood, is that more suited? I said in the OP, I don't think he's our best option at BP. Doesn't mean I'm not grateful what he did for us last year. Will we rise with him in 2014. I think not.
  2. Now that post-season training is officially upon us, we can move the debate from unknown commodities to the 'known' footballers. Dean has been a very interesting proposition for me; on a statistics level he was incredible, his offensive ability is clear, he nearly averaged 20 touches a game, from the top of my head ranked 4th in possessions playing in a back pocket and finished with a best first year player, along with 3rd in the BNF. To the supercoach football fan, he was amazing. Now to my concerns, I see Dean as a great 2nd tier footballer. He's far too eager to push forward when staying on his man is the smarter option. He regularly runs forward turns the ball over and see's it go back over his head. His footskills are reasonable, but his decision making is terrible which results in a bad looking kick. He had 55 clangers this year, which playing out of the backline simply isn't good enough. To put it in comparison, Aaron Mullett, North Melbourne's version of our Terlich played an extra 4 games and had 42 clangers. Mullett also kicks out. I see him having a very minimal role in this year's team. If you could recieve odd's on such a scenario I'm sure they'd be $1.04 for him to play 18+ games given his year, but the unaccountable run off defender I don't see a position for in Roos lineup. In the 18 games he played this year, he was directly responsible for 34 conceded goals. That's an average of 1.89 a game. It's a concern when the small forward of the opposition is almost guaranteed 2 goals a game. To put it in comparison Corey Enright conceded 0.68 a game, and Steven Morris 0.79. Even GWS' Adam Kennedy averaged a better average of 1.59. Rory Laird for Adelaide, another player who played his first AFL game last year was at a low 0.88 goals per game conceded. It's not impossible to do it in a bad team or in your first year. Furthermore, this also doesn't include when you've turned the ball over, or you've run of your man and other defenders are forced to scatter on the rebound. Talk to me Demonland, will Turnover Terlich be best 22 next year.
  3. No, he was entitled to tell her to get off his property. She was doing her job, you can't call a judge a **** because he finds you guilty of stealing. That language is disgusting, whilst the video is funny for shock value, your view is simply wrong.
  4. Just did it than, those three in a multi bet for 20$ would return 16,830$
  5. Absolutely, there isn't a first going-on second year footballer who doesn't have an area he needs to work on. Just don't think the alarm bells need to be ringing just yet, I can't wait to see him in a proper midfield, with leaders and established players around him, with a full AFL season under his belt. He was never going to make a huge impact, there's a reason Rich, O'Meara, Wines, Palmer have had excellent first years, they're body ready. Jimmy, I don't think was.
  6. Lachie Whitfield is far more an outside player than Toumpas. Recruiters were certainly hiding from him Ben. Slid all the way down to 1!
  7. You criticise people for ridiculing him, than tell people to grow a pair stop being so precious with their fragile egos.. You do know what irony is don't you? Either way, I am completely against this rubbish 30% notion. This year Leigh Montagna, Dustin Martin and Brent Harvey just to name a few had a 30% or worse uncontested to contested possession ratios. Toumpas further in his first 4 games of AFL had 30 touches with only 1 contested possession. After he was dropped, for the remaining games of the year his ratio was above this '30%' ratio quoted. Playing in the worst Melbourne team in AFL history, in his first year, against men. The stat is irrelevant, and removing his first games in AFL, he passes said stat regardless.
  8. Hopefully none were offended McQueen, understand where you are coming from, but it's such a difficult situation to discuss as it affects so much. Sorry to hear your story, it's stuff like that, that makes you think how lucky you, I, we are and how we complain about Pedersons 2 year contract and other unrelated crap it really does put it in perspective. All the best to her.
  9. Think it's pretty well put Goodoil. Alexis I'm sure would be well aware he was never going to be drafted on skills, but refusing to be beaten. Silvagni for example was pretty poor by hand, and quite frankly on the last line of defence I'd prefer a bloke who beats his man, rather than uses the ball brilliantly. Other teams have proven that midfielders should push back and create an easy option 15-20m away for the defender to find, and by the looks of it he'll be fine to do that. Not expecting him to do much, but I'm confident he'll do a good job if required.
  10. Arguably this just in itself shows how successful our draft/trade period has been.
  11. Indefinite leave granted to Bails, he has been diagnosed with cancer. We look back and I think many realise we made the wrong choice by ever letting him go, he had amazing strengths as a coach. Past the football though, think I speak for everyone in saying hopefully he gets over it, and recovers 100%. All the best Dean!
  12. http://www.norwoodfc.com.au/THE_TEAM/PLAYERPROFILES/39.aspx Yep there we go, key defender. Best FB in the SANFL
  13. Think he played for Norwood WJ. Mature aged, would be 22-23.
  14. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-20/max-king Ruckman, with an effective forward touch to him.
  15. 185cm, with speed. We can see the trend. Looks like a bit of a project, numbers are magical, but enough there that obviously we think he's worth it.

  17. Dandenong Stingrays. No idea about him. Let's talk.

  19. 1. Everyone is entitled to express an opinion but with that entitlement goes responsibility to observe the code of conduct and use common sense. 2. That the person whose post you think is "outrageously stupid" can be anyone from the law enforcement agency to the youngest of supporters. 3. That there is no place on this forum for personal abuse of other posters. This is a zero tolerance requirement. With all due respect, if we're actually following the code to the letter of the law, warning points should've been given out months ago. It's quite sad that in the last year this forum has lost it's homely feel to it. As Dees supporters, we came on here and everyone was fighting the same battle, yet now people who are overweight watching training or of a different opinion to another are hounded down. Being a moderator I can only imagine is lots of work, for minimum reward but point number 2 is becoming void. We've seen a few posters who were younger remove themselves because of constant belittlement, and I can't remember seeing Olisik's name around here much anymore who was a lock for abuse just because his idea's didn't adhere with others. Please clamp down on the personal abuse WJ, it's getting out of hand. Demonland is a place to come and talk football, not be told by some hero that his view is better than mine. We're all fighting the same battle at the end of the day.
  20. The front would clash with Adelaide, I like it but AFL would never accept.
  21. Lindsay Thomas also had a good year goal wise this year yet is incapable of moving up the ground. Few times had 4 goals from 6-7 touches. I don't think the pure forward pocket will be completely eliminated, however the fact we got a very good small forward who is capable of playing stints in the midfield will be especially beneficial in this sub and limited interchange era.
  22. I mentioned in the Who do we take with 9 that my father's friend is the evaluator of talent in the Eastern and Southern Region for Collingwood, and was also told that Salem was rated ahead of Freeman, but interestingly also Aish. Had the Lions taken Freeman at 7, he said to me that the Pies would've taken Salem ahead of Aish.
  23. He ran 11.03 APS Day, which is all electronic so he's obviously got heat. I'd imagine the 10.9 would probably be illegally wind assisted yet he's just counted it. Fair enough too. Your second point is most valid though, I myself ran the APS 200m 5 years ago, and was substantially faster than everyone else in my team but could never get it to translate onto the footy field. My first 3 or 4 steps were good, but after that my dash away speed wasn't the same as running in spikes. It's almost like an acquired talent, I used to run with James Strauss years back too, and he was an incredible 200 and 400m runner but you wouldn't really notice it now. Think JKH is the perfect example of the opposite, his 20m sprint wasn't great but on the field he looks like noone will catch him! Will keep an eye on both from now on.
  24. Please. The biggest club in the world Manchester United are specifically the Red Devils. Their away jersey has been white, blue, orange and black in the last 7 years. In some cases because of sponsorship. It'll take one team to risk it with a sponsorship with the likes of Yellow Pages, for a yellow jumper for all away games get them to pay you $2-2.5 Mil a year because the publicity would be amazing for them and all clubs will do it. Mark my words.
