  1. If he strings together poor performances, then yes, like any other player, his position is in jeopardy... I just don't think that has been the case yet and it would seem that the coaches believe he is performing the role he's been given.
  2. If players were judged solely upon their performance in their last game, there would have been many dropped before Jones in rounds 1 - 4. So far this season, apart from round 5, he has been performing well enough to be retained in the side, and to drop him on the cusp of his 300th game would, I believe, be detrimental to the performance of the entire team, particularly considering all eyes in the media are now on the club, and his 300th game is one of the big, if not the biggest, talking points - it would be deflating. A club dropping one of their most important players over the past decade and a half, for what would be his 300th game on such an important occasion (ANZAC Eve Game) doesn't represent a club that is tough and ready for a period of success... it represents a club that is unable to read it's players, members and supporters. The game needs a touch of humanity every now and then, and this is one such occasion when a player deserves to be acknowledged on a very big stage; how many thought North's decision to play Jason McCartney in June 2003 was a sign of softness by the club? For me, that was one of the biggest moments I've ever witnessed on a football field! Even if we lose the game (and I don't think we will lose), I will be happy that we allowed an absolute legend of the club the opportunity to reach this milestone in front of one of the biggest audiences we will have all year.
  3. Even my sister who has been a rusted on Geelong supporter for nigh on 70 years, says that Jones is probably her favourite opposition player... to me, that speaks volumes for the man!
  4. I’m hoping that when he does retire, that number is retired with him for x amount of seasons.
  5. This! If Jones plays his 300th game on the big stage, as well as Jones himself, it WILL lift the entire team, who I am certain will be 100% behind his taking the field. And for it to be suggested that it will "diminish the prestige of the 300 club" and be "an insult to David Neitz", absolute nonsense!! I think you will find that Neitz will be ecstatic for Jones having reached his 300 games and I seriously doubt that any of the current 300 club 'members' would consider Jones unworthy of membership, or that his inclusion somehow cheapens the honour.
  6. Try downloading the 7plus app and when setting up, enter your post code as a Melbourne code and don’t allow the app to auto detect your location. That should get you the Melbourne programming.
  7. Of those two, I'd assume Sparrow, simply because Jordon is a tackling machine.
  8. I assume that probably means 22 plus sub... any indication as to who the sub might be?
  9. That’s precisely the comparison I used in the post that Godees was responding to.
  10. I too am loving the apparent synergy between Langdon and Hunt. I’m of the opinion that Langdon, in no small part, is responsible for Hunt’s turnaround in form. Maybe an early call, but I haven’t seen a pairing like that since Cameron Bruce and Brad Green helped take us to a GF in 2000.
  11. I was thinking more of a LeCras type.
  12. Well, the good thing about Tom is that in a contest, he won’t back down.
  13. That’s a plane crazy notion.
  14. Then couldn’t you be chair man of selectors?
  15. I read in an article on the MFC app, that both the Weed and Brown played in an intraclub game last weekend. Does anyone have any info as to how they went?

  17. Yes, for me Trac was one of our most disappointing players... some terrible turnovers.
  18. As long as he's taking the shot from about 95 metres out.
  19. All good, except for the fact that a major concern in the original post was that "They cant phone the club as the club is just overloaded with calls and you cant get through."
  20. Yes, AND he gets to keep the tips!
  21. I'm currently a non-drinker and have family in Canberra to catch up with before my son and I go to the game, but I think the nearest pub (walking distance) would be the Kingston Hotel on the corner of Giles St and Canberra Ave. I'm sure there are bars in both Manuka and Kingston, but being Easter Sunday, they may or may not be open. Also, a bit further way if on foot, there is 'Kingston by the Sea' on the foreshore of picturesque Lake Burley Griffin that does have a few bars.
  22. The club and its members have only been relying on this 'new' technology for the past season and a bit due to the extraordinary circumstances we all find ourselves in with the pandemic. I'm not sure who these members are that have no access to mobile or home PC type technology, or how many of them actually exist, but hopefully they would, for the most part, have technologically capable connections (family, carers or other) who could help them obtain seating at games and help them maintain their memberships. We interstate members still keep our memberships going, despite often going years on the trot with the Dees not having games in our cities (I'm in Sydney), so attendance should not be the determining factor; it's all about love for the club.
  23. Yeah, that's what Delilah said!
