  1. If there is an Admin available, I think rpfc's post is the perfect point at which to lock this topic up. He has summed it up beautifully.
  2. A couple of things... firstly, I can't help but wonder what kind of affect this will have on the playing group (will it demoralise or will it galvanise them) and secondly (and this is something I really have no idea about, but maybe someone will?), will this simply be a matter for the MFC to sort out regarding penalties applied to Liam and if and when he can resume playing, or does the AFL have the right to intervene if they believe he has brought the game into disrepute?
  3. Where has it been reported he was drinking? I certainly haven't seen anything at all. http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/released-on-bail-liam-jurrah-returns-to-melbourne-20120309-1uosr.html It's now being reported in the press that he is on a flight to Melbourne and due to arrive later this afternoon:
  4. I am just glad to know that, unlike some of our so called supporters, this club has a heart!
  5. Yes, I saw that and he (Robbo) seemed genuinely emotional about the whole situation (as opposed to his, what I usually consider, displays of "faux passion")..
  6. A few suggestions from an avid collector of film on DVD and BluRay: Arrietty (think it gets a run at the cinemas here soon, if not already - I have the BluRay from Japan) - a take on Mary Norton's book "The Borrowers", from Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli - wonderful/beautiful animation - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrietty In fact, I would recommend almost anything from this studio as they cater for adults (Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away) and children (Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro being highlights), and are rarely short of superb. Older films I would recommend are most Kurosawa (Seven Samurai, Ran, Throne of Blood, Hidden Fortress, High and Low etc) Most Jim Jarmusch - Mystery Train, Down By Law, Ghost Dog, Dead Man etc A few Chinese films such as Aftershock, A World Without Thieves, Raise the Red Lantern, Not One Less, The Road Home, Shower Australian films such as The Last Wave, Lantana, Red Dog, Chopper French films such as Diva, City of Lost Children, Delicatessen, Amelie, Mic Macs, Wages of Fear Will add more later.
  7. I propose we wait until we know the facts before condemning him.
  8. Telegoons were a favourite of mine in the 60's: Spike Milligan and his Q series was also brilliant:
  9. Ronny Jordan meets DJ Krush (brilliant Japanese turntablizer) - "Love, I Never Had it So Good":
  10. Here are a couple I quite like... firstly an Anglo/Japanese collaboration known as United Future Organization "I Love My Baby, My Baby Loves Jazz": King Crimson Jazz Trio with "21st Century Schizoid Man" (as, if you know the original, you have never heard it before):
  11. And here is one thing that I dislike on these forums... Watts gets a lot of support here because of his age and development (takes more time for talls and KPFs etc etc), yet someone like Bennell (who is just 9months older than Watts, by the way) gets kicked from pillar to post for being soft and not hard enough at the contest.. and to my mind, they are both showing equal amounts of potential and promise.
  12. I like Fox Footy channel... thanks to them, I've had the pleasure of watching us beat Collingwood 4 or 5 time already this week
  13. Even though I corrected rpfc over this, I think he was probably correct when he said "our best 5" - I get the feeling that the OP was probably intending the word "elite" to be used as the "best 5" relative to the rest of our playing list.
  14. I would have thought that the blow out might be more likely to occur if they don't balance the loads of injured players properly (that is, overload them too early) - often, rest can be the best cure. In the case of Jurrah, it was simply a matter of a failure to heal correctly... I could not possibly see how not giving him a break would help such an injury to heal properly.
  15. No, I think that list is for the teams not playing in the GF.
  16. I agree completely about a break being the best medicine... interesting to see you say that Williams is looking forward to resuming training with the main group; he is listed as 3 to 4 weeks with a bad back, so either he has made a speedier than expected recovery, or whoever compiles the injured list is a glass half empty kind of person :-)
  17. Hell, I'll nit-pick... the question was "Who will be our elite 5 for the 2014 Demon flag?"
  18. I certainly hope he's not getting paid for that! Disgraceful!!
  19. Actually, according to the fixture, the possible venues are: Etihad Stadium Simonds Stadium Blacktown International Sportspark AAMI Stadium Patersons Stadium Metricon Stadium Manuka Oval VISY Park
  20. Wagga?
  21. This is one issue I have - too many consider Jones to be old, when in actual fact he just turned 24 in January.by 2014 he will be 26 which is probably when players are reaching the peak of their powers. Over the past couple of seasons we have seen him make great strides and if his NAB Cup performances are any indication, he looks likely to move a few more rungs up the ladder this year. So as a very left of centre view, I would rate the 5 best for us that year to be (in no particular order): Jones Petterd (if he can get consistency into his game) Jurrah (if he can stay injury free - I am still uneasy with the way he lands after marking and am always concerned he will do some major knee damage one day) Martin (on the proviso that he can stop fumbling) Howe Oh, and I really feel for young Viney as he has not yet set foot on the ground in a Dees jumper and already he has been labelled the new messiah - way way too early to be using the words Viney and elite in the same sentence.
  22. Sorry, I was being facetious, but I still do appreciate you taking the time to answer on the off chance I was being honest :-). I actually use it on my iPad when I'm traveling overseas...before i leave i purchase some credit on Skype for calls to landline/mobiles and then just pop into a Starbucks or similar place with free wifi, and call my home phone to talk to the family for next to nothing. Calls are always crystal clear.
  23. What is this Skype thing? Please tell me more.
