  1. Tell me about it!! I'm old enough to remember those halcyon days!
  2. For some reason I had a vision of Hannibal Lecter.
  3. I think you might find it was because of the numbers of people tweeting about the same thing... Cam eventually relented due to weight of numbers :-)
  4. Liam's to be fined $5,000 by the club: http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-to-fine-jurrah-5000-20120314-1v3kl.html
  5. In a semi-comatose state this morning, I managed to decipher a radio news report (on Sydney's 2BL) that mentioned something about Port Adelaide, sponsorship and charity. That was all I got... anyone have the missing pieces? Let's hope that prompts the MFC to make some sort of an official statement.
  6. Judging by the player comments going out into the twittersphere, they seem to like the blazers (I assume if they didn't like them they would say nothing) - if this sort of tradition instills some pride and a sense of history in the players, then hopefully that will be reflected in their performances on-field. Winning is definitely not a tradition, and with the size of the competition now, the game is becoming more competitive and winning is becoming harder and harder; so anything that can give you an edge (psychological or otherwise) is a good thing imo.
  7. And if we win a full game at AAMI, it can be considered our "deliverance" (cue dueling banjos)
  8. I would probably say "you're Alan Funt, now where's the camera?"
  9. So DemonMuzza, why don't you apply for a job as an AFL umpire... it sounds like you consider it to be pretty easy and you would be $10K per year better off :-)
  10. well, we can offer up as much conjecture and conspiracy theories as we like in here, but I suggest we be a little more proactive and put social media to the test. I have no doubt quite a few have already done this, but I just tweeted the following to @Melbournefc (the link is to this thread): http://tinyurl.com/6rexvt7 Please show your members enough respect to at least provide some sort of FOJ sponsor status update! Sure, they might ignore my single tweet, but if enough people do likewise, then perhaps they may see some merit in providing us with some sort of update - Cam Schwab posts occasionally on these forums (as do MelbourneFC), so who knows...
  11. Well, Watts has been dropped and will play for Casey this week: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/130646/default.aspx
  12. With the pace of the modern game, it's little wonder that the umpires make "slip ups" to the degree that they do. Apart from the odd prima dona (Ray), the umpires probably deserve a better go than we supporters give them. As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong), unlike many of the players, umpires are not highly paid professionals, but rather depend on full time employment outside of footy to survive. I think I read somewhere that they are on an income (last year) around the $60k mark... it's little wonder they are getting harder to recruit, given the abuse that they have to put up with.
  13. Not a problem mephis. I plan to turn off the sound and just watch the... ohhh :-(
  14. Saw the tweet and immediately added Fiveaa to my TuneIn Radio list on the old iPad. Thanks for that!
  15. He was wearing a Pies jumper :-) Civvies actually.
  16. Haha! Lately, Old Dee seems to be chanelling Bluey from Demonology :-)
  17. Just noticed Martin Blake tweeting: Tweet 1: "Jurrah trained indoors this morning at Melb FC. Brad green said he had a smile and wants to use footy to do talking but..." Tweet 2:"Jurrah wont play for at least 7 or 8 weeks according to Brad Green needs to complete a preseason"
  18. Not trying to cause trouble at all, simply making an observation which you seem to have given more credence with your comment that you believe all four of them are working to get LJ to the Pies... and I do notice you removed the word "just" in quoting yourself.
  19. I read it over several times before I decided to carry on like an idiot. "I don’t believe that BHM would use Jurrah just to help McGuire’s rating on his new show." Maybe it is just your clumsy wording, but I would have thought the key word was "just" - in which case, it could be asked for what other reasons were you inferring he was "using" Jurrah? I suggest you read the rest of that paragraph where you suggest Betheras: "made the point of almost blaming personal changes at Melbourne for Jurrahs actions combined with BHM organizing a private meeting with the Collingwood President", then you might understand why I construed your post the way I did. And as dandeeman is concerned about the revelation of the real name of a Demonland poster (which most people on here are well aware of anyway), you might want to edit the section where you quote me... I have removed it from my post.
  20. Yes yes, we all love a good conspiracy. And as for the line I have bolded, that is an absolutely disgraceful thing to say! Bruce Hearn McKinnon has been supportive of LJ as a friend and as someone wanting him to bring his game to the AFL. Sure he first was attempting to get him into the Pies, but he has stated many times over how pleased he has been with the way in which the MFC has taken LJ under their wing. To say that he is using Jurrah goes way beyond the pale.
  21. You can get Skype (and MSN Messenger with video) for Mac OSX as well as for Windows.
  22. You may well be right WYL, but one thing you didn't factor into the equation... they are human ;-)
  23. I think you will find that as he has copped a lot of heat over his JW comments, Malthouse is reinforcing/justifying said comments. And the fact that he is doing so doesn't alter the fact that his analysis is spot on!
  24. Fair comment Old Dee, but I would make one change... I'm like the man standing among the ruins of his half built house who is not too concerned because he realises that the foundations are strong and a few lessons have been learned with regards to building a much stronger structure that will hopefully withstand a similar storm in the future :-) I think I might reserve judgement until May 11th when cyclone Buddy is due to return and see what, if any, lessons have been learned.
