  1. Don't know if it has been asked already, but could this be a case of us scratching their back in return for a big sponsor deal? Just a thought.
  2. Actually, I would have thought that the article could just as easily be construed as complete proof that he does have an issue with the knee... it is certainly a much more feasible explanation for having him do a lighter training load (75%) than his team mates... as was mentioned before, all Shoddy needs to do is watch who follows Sulky in to work out how well they are traveling.
  3. Agree also... not AFL, but I'm sure the #46 will mean a lot to people who love sport. The owner of that number is in a sport where the world champion is supposed to wear the #1 for the next season, yet this person refuses to part with the #46... I'm certain many of you know who I'm talking about, because his name is synonymous with that number.
  4. Can't recall who it was, but last night I noticed one player tweeting something about "time trials tomorrow".
  5. Sorry, I should have used an emoticon... my comment was meant as a joke.
  6. Yeah, as a kid, Hassa (and by association, Len) was my favourite player.
  7. I see your point... but isn't that pretty much par for the course these days... a discussion of Melbourne will always turn into a discussion of the Son of Phildamort (Tom Riddle-me-this)? Look no further than these very forums.
  8. Agree... Jimmy transcends club boundaries and when there is a cheer at the MCG, it will be from all supporters of all teams. Jimmy is the perfect example of life imitating art... nothing could stop him on the footy field, and now nothing can stop him living his life to the fullest.
  9. Maybe we should all start putting little copyright symbols on our posts ;-) © 2011
  10. Nice to see the following report following Jimma's latest bout of surgery: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/126973/default.aspx
  11. Caroline Wilson is simply reporting the news and is therefore under no obligation to start singing Cam's praises. The article reports the facts and reflects cam in neither a good nor a bad light and in fact, if anything, indicates that the whole success of this arrangement will be down to Cam's and the club's groundwork over the past year or so.
  12. Fair enough... but I would argue that the captaincy is something that must be earned (performance/experience based) and it should not automatically be assumed that because a player was captain this year, he will carry the mantle again next year - as long as the players understand this, it shouldn't be an issue... and who knows, it may be just the carrot on a stick that some of the players need to lift their games? Moloney and Jones have both been performing well consistently, Trengove is performing well, but is still lacking experience and Grimes, well, he hasn't really been performing at all due to not being able to take to the field.
  13. Jones will only be 24 going into next season... hardly falls outside our window does he? And Moloney is at a perfect age (27) with both the experience and the motivation/drive... it's not hard to see what he would give to the captaincy given the way he applied himself following his off-field indiscretion.
  14. A little unfair... in 1972 he kicked 63 goals and had a total of 242 goals from 171 games for his VFL career.
  15. Splitting hairs I know, but it's 3 hours difference (and just 2 during the winter months).
  16. I think he made his presence known with his high flying marking - he was a truly spectacular player to watch (in the same was as Robertson was and Jurrah is)... so I'm not too surprised I suppose.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Moloney (capt)and Jones (v capt) combination.
  18. The club should act as an anarcho-syndicalist commune with no captain.
  19. The only arrival I would like to see at McD's would be that of Whelan the wrecker :-)
  20. Freak said: Maldonboy38 said: I may be wrong, but assuming this was the same drill, it's interesting to see how observations can differ ;-) Having said that, thanks for the reports as being in no position to be able to attend these sessions, they really are appreciated.
  21. I have heard he has been enrolled into a new program at the Royal Institute of Biometric Studies, where he will be undergoing an intensive strengthening regime under the guidance of the highly regarded Dr Peter Puller (World Authority in Neuro Kinetic Energy Research). Any truth to this rumour?
  22. Wouldn't that be entirely dependent upon how well they scrub up "on the track"? I would hope that they have their eyes on alternative prospects... given his Collingwood background, I would think Couch is a monty to get a place, but as for the rest... who knows.
  23. In fact there's a whole cluster of clutterbucks in there... birdy num num
