  1. Actually, it was "In the year 2525" by Zagar & Evans...I remember it clearly because the first time I heard it was on 3UZ and the DJ (Ken Sparkes I think it was) said "I wonder if that is a prediction for our future" and immediately his comment finished, the house started to shake... we had an earth tremor.
  2. At age 10, 5 years is as good as a lifetime. Come to think of it, it feels like a lifetime that I've been waiting.
  3. Hard to disagree... add The Loved Ones, Wild Cherries, Purple Hearts, MPD, Mike Furber and the Bowery Boys, Little Gulliver, The Groove (best Sam & Dave covers ever) etc to that list.
  4. Have to agree on the observation that with Fev gone we can look at the development of Cook as another forward option. Once they are all up and running and we have the midfield that can provide quality delivery, a forward half of Watts, Clark, Cook, Howe, Fitzpatrick and Jurrah starts to look pretty formidable.
  5. Call me a pedant, but the song is actually called "It's because i love you" - a quick searchon YouTube will find several clips of him performing live with Russell Morris and Daryl Cotton, but no Marngrook clip up yet.
  6. I'll be in New York in September... at least I won't be missing out on any finals action ;-) Oh, and I'm taking my 10 year old son to the Swans game next week... I'm a bit worried it may put him off the Dees for good if we don't start to lift.
  7. Well, as only Bate (of those you listed) is named on the bench, I would think that Bennell and Petterd are both playing from the opening bounce. I suspect that it may be Bail who gets to wear the vest.
  8. Disagree... I seem to recall that not so long ago they were all over us as being the next Geelong, the next super power... funny how things change when a team performs with no spirit and no apparent will for the contest. We get what we deserve unfortunately.
  9. +1 - agree with this OD.
  10. He'll be back next week... nothing surer as they won't see any use in leaving him languishing while Casey takes a break.
  11. Well, with two weeks off after this weekend, I don't think that will work. I would think he will remain at Casey this week and come back into the side next week, as I doubt they will want him being idle for two weeks.
  12. Saw an AFL tweet stating that Clarkson is unsure about starting Luke Hodge who is being visited by his old friend General Soreness. He said they will probably select him, but that they are not taking any chances... which in my mind at least, is code for, he won't be playing.
  13. So now just watch us play the Hawks back into the kind of form that will see them go on to improve those areas in which they are currently deficient.
  14. In which case, there may be an opening for Couch?
  15. How about one and a bit good seasons? And as far as the homesick WA boy argument goes... wasn't Clark a homesick WA boy? Edit: ok, on reading a few comments saying Clark was not homesick, he was still convinced he could manage his "family reasons" without returning to WA... money can cure all kinds of ailments.
  16. I agree... I watched that footage several times and the hit happened just a fraction after Jack got the ball... both players were committed and Wojcinski at full pace was never going to stop in time. He may well go for it, but I think the "Conduct = intentional" is a bit ridiculous.
  17. I'm not sure... which pub is it that most here frequent? ;-) I don't think it will be the 10+ goal drubbing that Harcourt is suggesting, but I think it would be the height of optimism to believe we could win it,.
  18. Yes, and let's also not forget that the Geelong VFL side is just two places below Casey on the VFL ladder, but with a higher percentage. It's not as if he kicked 4 goals against a team of no-hopers.
  19. Haha! Well, with some of the footy brains on here, zero tolerance is the only way to go (one strike and you're out!).. fortunately for the likes of Jamar, Jones and numerous others, the club doesn't take the same approach.
  20. Leg speed is, of course, a great asset, but in our case, I think one of the things holding us back is speed of a different kind... mental speed. Our players too often seem to be caught in two minds as to what to do with the ball and as a result end up either caught holding the ball or having to make a late ineffective disposal. Also, as a hopeless runner myself and as someone who is clueless when it comes to anatomical physics, is leg speed something that can be developed/taught, or will a slow plodding play always be slow and plodding... I get the feel technique is not something that a player is going to think too much about when they are in a tight spot.
  21. That's actually an interesting situation, because I'm sure I read something quoting Neeld as saying there was a possibility Jurrah may be called up for the Hawks game. Not sure if a player's self-assessment trumps that of his coach, but it will be interesting to see what happens.
  22. Have you seen the vision of this incident? I haven't and if you have a link to where we might see it, it would be greatly appreciated. On the Leigh Matthews era comment, as I recall (but I could well be wrong), criminal assault charges were brought against him after he broke a players jaw, but the big difference was that he used a well directed fist to inflict the damage.
  23. Your point being?
  24. Your point being?
  25. So was Clark - nothing ventured, nothing gained. Would love to see us get Bennell.
