  1. Accepted... but in the past he has not been shy to signal his intentions, as was the case with a certain young TS. Many were saying the same about Clark, but I think now you would find few doubters. The reason I believe the club will make an all-out attempt to secure Cloke is that Neeld (I think it was, or was it McClardy?) stated last week that they are targeting a big bodied strong forward.
  2. Well, I got it wrong and you are vindicated :-) But as far as turning the award into a joke, I disagree... this award is for the Rising Star and if a player shows enough in a quarter of football to indicate that they will be a star, then they are deserving of a nomination; particularly if in that quarter they are able to inspire their far more experienced team mates to an unlikely victory.
  3. The year is not yet half done. If, as we all hope, things are finally starting to fall into place and they can come home with a wet sail, the prospects will be lining up to get onboard.
  4. Sheedy has already come out and said they are not going after Cloke.
  5. I see just as much upside in Cloke as I do in Clark...what did we pay for Clark? The club has already clearly stated they are looking for another big forward, so I am certain that Cloke is well and truly in their sights. I expect to see him running around in Dees colours next year (but please don't revisit this post at the end of the year).
  6. I think Brisbane's Green will walk it in this week... his was a truly amazing game as a sub who came on and turned the whole game around for them.
  7. Well, as soon as I saw it I thought the free would go against Col as it certainly appeared he had slung his opponent out of the way.
  8. Not at all... the request was made and I was happy to oblige.
  9. Since you insist: Undeterred, page 8 of the Carlton gameday thread: "Weak again Watts. At least smash a pack." after he stood back from the marking contest. I couldn't be bothered searching all related threads... but this is one instance. And in case you were thinking of saying, "but that's just one instance, hardly conclusive", don't forget it was you who said "I don't think I've once read on Demonland where anyone has stated that they expect Watts to "crash packs". Why do posters make stuff up ?"
  10. I understand that B-H... I was merely pointing out that your statement about posters "making stuff up", was not entirely correct.
  11. I think they beat themselves more than the other way around... hence my comment/question.
  12. Actually, I think you will find more than one poster was vocal over the fact Watts failed to crash the pack when he stood back from a marking contest against Carlton on our forward line at a fairly crucial time in the game.
  13. Feeling bored and a little flat after coming down off the high that was Saturday night's result, but I can't help but get the feeling that Saturday night's result may have inadvertently exposed a weakness in West Coast... a win would have seen them move clear at the top of the ladder, yet they were unable to secure it against a much weaker opponent in Brisbane; ergo, chokers. I might be wrong, but I like to think it is possible.
  14. Apparently it is not an offence he can be suspended for yet (I suppose suspension comes with a 3rd strike), and the word in the media is that he will most likely get a fine.
  15. Two fist pumpers that stood out for me... Jones' banana, of course, and Garlands reaction to his own goal in the last... I've never seen him so animated before.
  16. It should have gone for review, but in the wash-up, the result would most likely have been the same due to inconclusive video evidence.
  17. Actually, Taylor got right behind the Dees and, if I recall correctly, was tipping an upset by the end of the first quarter.
  18. DD... why try to "intellectualise" it? The fact is that we applied constant pressure that in the end, aided by their poor kicking for goal (in no small part due to that pressure), got us over the line. Coupled with that pressure, we made space and so were more effective with our clearances and ball movement. The feeling I had while watching this unfold, was almost identical to that I experienced in our come from behind win (the first in Bailey's tenure?) against Freemantle. Sure we didn't come from a long way behind and eventually run over the top of them, but there was that same desperation to get over the line for their new coach, the supporters, and for themselves. I'm now really looking forward to next Monday to see if something really has clicked or if this was simply an aberration. Neeld has the advantage of knowing the opponent in this case, and to this end I hold a little hope knowing that we beat them in the pre-season when on paper they had a much stronger team than we are able to field (Neeld's inside knowledge had more than a little to do with that, I'm sure).
  19. Sure is... we even watched the replay of the last 10 minutes together again today.
  20. I'm trying to fathom what was "abysmal" about C&B's comment... are you saying that a player who plays a very ordinary game in a winning team is somehow immune from criticism? I would say THAT is the "interesting way of thinking". And I'm not sure what the winning ticket has to do with anything. For what it's worth, I agree with C&B and was sitting watching the game thinking how slow Trengove has become.
  21. Thanks go out to the Demonland fashionista for their in depth coverage of Neeld's presser; I must say I found it very enlightening.

    Gadget Man

I wonder whether Jetta will go for staging - he has already been warned, and even though he did cop a knock to the nuts, he had already thrown his head back in an exagerated movement before the contact actually took place.
  23. My favorite on Bomberblitz is the picture of the Essendon club tie accompanied by the words, "Take care, severe choking hazard".
  24. 6 Jones 5 Rivers 4 Garland 3 Nicholson 2 Watts 1 Sellar
