  1. Franklin Ablett Robert Murphy (need his composure and maturity - he's a genuine thinking footballer) Selwood would be ok, but how long will he last...as was mooted by Cam Mooney on AFL360.
  2. Or, in the words of Ralph from the Honeymooners (or Honeymousers if you're a Bugs Bunny Show officianado), "Morton, you, are, a mental case!"
  3. Timing couldn't have been better with the Queen's Birthday game coming up... will give the team a real lift going into that game.
  4. Indeed it was... I recall seeing a tweet mentioning they were having a midfield dinner. Jamar tweeted on the 31st... "Midfield dinner @basilico @tom_couch @sam_blease @thegame"
  5. Yes, couldn't fault that preview apart from the fact he had Bartram as an in instead of Bail. Very well thought out and well balanced piece of writing.
  6. From the HUN... "JIM Stynes's legacy and love for Melbourne will be honoured as the centrepiece of the city's newest social and community hub. A walkway celebrating Stynes's life will wind over the Yarra at the redeveloped Northbank promenade to link the city centre and Docklands through the creation of the Jim Stynes Bridge." http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/melburnians-to-walk-in-jim-stynes-shoes/story-fn7x8me2-1226386802938
  7. You're probably right OD... so I'm wondering who was on the other wing. Dixon still stands out in my mind as one of the greatest ever to play that position.
  8. I probably have this all wrong as my memory of the 60's is very cloudy (yes, I really was there), but I had the feeling Dixon, Alves and Bourke made up a centre line at one point (although on checking Wiki, there is no mention of Bourke ever taking a wing possy - just forward and back)... but if such a centre line did exist, and in my own mind I'm pretty certain it did, then that for me was it!
  9. Not as silly as some might think it sounds. He did a hell of a lot in improving the state of NRL during some very difficult times when clubs were imploding (Canterbury Bulldogs, Easts, Storm etc) and when other codes were threatening (well, maybe too strong a word) to overrun them due to NRLs crumbling image.
  10. Well, I doubt that the MFC are anticipating a premiership in 2013, so I would be happy for them to get Cloke while he is available and then after seeing how things look in the midfield with Viney running around and hopefully Gysberts back on track, look to bolster our midfield stocks at the end of season 2013 and beyond.

  12. Of course... a case of out of sight, out of mind (in which case I'm not sure how I managed to get Cook in there).
  13. Cloke and Clark will be our Buddy and Roughhead (of old) - add to that the support of Howe, Cook, Sylvia, Garland (assuming he stays forward), Watts after he has completed his apprenticeship down back, et al, and you have a pretty formidable forward half.
  14. I see Josh Caddy has put off contract negotiations at the Suns (who have to shed at least 7 players), so is there any point in pursuing that line? (I recall last year a lot of posters during trade week were all over him). http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/137862/default.aspx
  15. All of the best writers of fiction rely on good imagery ;-)
  16. I find myself nodding in agreement with your posts far too often lately RR ;-)
  17. So TS has now become the measuring stick for every other player's honesty? Good lord!
  18. Actually, I get the feeling that on Saturday night he actually reached the light at the end of the tunnel and will hopefully start to give consistently solid performances from now on.
  19. I think it's actually his disposition... I can't recall seeing him smile often at all. I think he will stay unless he is pushed.
  20. A great article and provides a good insight into how Moloney was personally affected by the changes around the club. Glad he wants to remain a Dee to the end.
  21. Maybe they could have someone sitting at a PC running Google Earth, getting the perfect aerial view from a satellite positioned above each goal line?
  22. Weak weak comment... the guy works hard and despite being lambasted for poor disposal or low possession rates, more often than not negates the oppositions' more dangerous players.
