  1. I have finally got around to watching Lupin on Netflix, and now I’m kicking myself for leaving it so long! This is seriously one of the best shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching… ever!! Brilliantly acted with Omar Sy from the film Intouchables in the lead role, incredibly well scripted, it’s the TV equivalent to a page turner! I’ve watched this first two seasons in two days and will watch the third and most recent tomorrow and am already feeling sad that I’ll be up to date because that means I know I’ll have a long wait for the next season. If you haven’t already seen this, I urge you to do so now… you will NOT be disappointed!!
  2. Agree… in this case I’m guessing he’s talking about Jefferson.
  3. Old guy here - I like it. Different is good!
  4. My point is that the post you were responding to was about McAdam’s fitness issues and you simply provided a history directly from Adelaide’s web page, which has nothing to do with his fitness issues. Also, if you’re going to quote word for word what is on the site, why not provide a credit?

  6. All you’ve done is copy word for word what is on the Adelaide Crows web page. They’re not going to provide any information about the negative side of his development or his approach to training which is what Deebamboozle is pointing out.

Yes, when we went and stayed at my friend’s place, we had just missed the opportunity to see Commander Cody, who performed there one week earlier. As for me, the chemotherapy is a pretty rough ride with some pretty nasty side effects. An infection I got in a salivary gland hit me so hard that they had to cancel my chemo cycle I was about to start, and then made me an inpatient for 4 days. All is now good and I start back on my sixth fortnightly cycle of chemo next Monday. Still in Sydney but music is not possible yet (one side effect being that it makes my voice very weak - I sound like the godfather being voiced by Elmer Fudd). I’m hoping they might give me an extended break from chemo early next year (lat Jan or early Feb), so I can take the band down to Melbourne for a couple of gigs and do other gigs on the way down and on the way back. Fingers crossed for that wish.

A friend of mine who we’ve stayed with in Pawling, lives just a few minutes away from Darryl’s House. I asked if he was going to see Fripp, but unfortunately, being the online presentation of Darryl’s House, it was a closed session.
  9. I’m finding humour is the best form of combat.
  10. You’re absolutely correct, so please accept my apologies… but I will be having words with my oncologist about the drug regime she currently has me on! 🤣
  11. Love it!!
  12. I thought so too until I did a bit of searching, and it seems How Do You Do… was a Freddie and the Dreamers number.

Yes, I’m not sure that the term is entirely correct, but Zappa was a bit of an anachronism… in that he had very conservative views, but at the same time was light years ahead of his time while being a man of his time. Zappa had all of the traits that you’d expect of a genius.

This got me to reading his history on Wikipedia, and it turned up a few interesting factoids, such as his first band Lowell George and the Factory, appeared on both F-Troop and Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. His time with Zappa was also interesting as were the circumstances leading to his exit from the Mothers… from, he was caught smoking dope, to, he wrote a song (Willin) about smoking dope, to, it was suggested by Zappa that he leave the Mothers and form his own band.
  15. I was thinking of it more from a lyrical aspect rather than musical format.
  16. I like the Hermits Hermits ending there… perhaps seguĆ© into his Mersey Beat compatriots, Freddie and the Dreamers with How Do You Do What You Do To Me.
  17. I’ve been a bit remiss with my TV show watching of late. I did however, make a very late start on Kim’s Convenience on Foxtel. I love it. It’s full of quirky characters and is presented as a series of moments during each day. Roughly edited but entirely charming. It concerns a convenience store run by a Korean family in Toronto in Canada. I have watched a couple of Star Wars related series on the Disney Channel including the Mandelorian (very good) and Andor which was fabulous!

Yes, he played with The Mothers of Invention for a while. Unfortunately he always had weight issues which eventually caught up with him. I was lucky enough to see them at Festival Hall in 1976… fantastic band.

For everyone bemoaning the fact that an interstate game means that they are unable to attend, welcome to my world which is spent bemoaning the fact that we can’t easily get to attend most games for the entire season! Living in Sydney, this will be the first time in memory, that I may be able to attend a Dees game as a season opener! It’s fantastic!!
  22. Oh the irony! Don’t forget those ā€œshadesā€ JG.

My sleep patterns are scrambled due to my current medical treatment, so this time it’s something that worked to my advantage as I was able to watch the game in its entirety. At 7 for 91 I figured that it was well and truly gone, but with Maxwell at the crease I just couldn’t stop watching as he’s always capable of doing the unexpected. it was far and away the best innings by any individual I have ever seen, including Dean Jones 210 in an early 90’s test in India. Amazing!!
  24. It’s not always selfishness, but sometimes life just gets in the way. I was distracted by moving my son to Canberra to take up a graduate position, then applying most of my energies into spending time with my Canberra based younger brother who was suffering Aphasia which had become full blown dementia, and which eventually took him from us. Then there was the dealing with the aftermath of that and then, my son relocating back to Sydney after completing his placement. By the time I did get around to having a colonoscopy, I was sadly too late to the party.
  25. Thanks GtB… I’m having my ups and downs, but for the most part doing ok. Missing being able to perform with the band though.
