Beautifully put Jerry. You are a person with some grey matter.
-
Read what he said CAREFULLY! He said the PLAYERS couldn't care less abut the PP. It was not just his PERSONAL opinion. Played competitive sport have you? You went out to each game to lose? I bet you didn't. If you did you would be 'unusual' to put it mildly.
-
Don't let him get at you Jack7. YM is sadly so out of touch with his biased comments. Think he's trying to be suspended again! He's building up to it.

I think I'm fairing better than you Rhino. I have read and re read your posts and in NO WAY have you indicated whether or not you begrudged the boys winning their last two games. You spoke of the future but not the present. As the old song goes, "ANSWER ME, ANSWER ME" . BTW of course I would like the team to be happy and successful in the future. Now I have answered you. Your turn.
-
Rhino, are you a politician? They never ANSWER THE QUESTION EITHER!
-
Thanks mate! But tell me something, are you IRISH?
-
Rhino did you begrudge the boys having their moments of joy? Answer please!

What I am saying is I that I would be very pleased if we did manage to get those two top picks BUT not because we TANKED. If we try our best and still come last I will be satisfied. I still think we may only win ONE more game anyway. Freo at the MCG. Sad as it may seem, we will win the spoon again. The Dockers and Eagles will win at least two more. ( Home games of course). They even play each other the week after next. We don't want to develop a Carlton- like reputation do we?
-
In a bad mood today Rhino? I have merely pointed out that there are a lot of great players who have been relatively low picks but who have developed well. So Del Santo, Chapman etc etc haven't been good picks? You are overlooking the fact that kids develop at different rates. Many are early developers and don't go on with their promise. I guess I should have used our own JACK GRIMES at # 14 as a good example of what I am saying. Winning is a culture that LIFTS players! Do you begrudge their recent after match elation and celebration? I certainly don't.

Some of us are paranoid about losing the #1 draft pick. I say let's keep winning because #1,2, 3 draft picks do not ALWAYS turn out to be the best option. Consider the following draft picks over the years and take aboard what I am trying to say. #79 JAMES HIRD, #12 Tim Watson, #16 Adem Yze, #9 Allen Jackovich, #56 DANIEL BRADSHAW, #67 Byron Pickett, #84 DOUG HAWKINS, #5 Luke Power,#9 Chad Cornes, #31 SIMON BLACK, #43 ADAM GOODES, #11 Lenny Hayes, #38 BRENDAN FEVOLA, #19 Brad Green, #30 JONATHON BROWN, #31 PAUL CHAPMAN, #64 Cameron Bruce, #18 Daniel Kerr, #67 Graham Johncock, # 8 JIMMY BARTEL. #13 Nick del Santo, #40 GARY ABLETT( jnr), #24 Steve Johnson, #7 Joel Selwood, # 7 Daniel Rich. Obviously, those in block letters are standouts in relation to their ability and their draft pick number. So everyone , stop sweating on Scully , Trengrove etc. You just don't know who is out there ready to help us win a flag. I think we can count Jurrah as a real bonus and we have Sam Blease and young Strauss waiting and ready to go in 2010.

My 3 word player analysis V Port Flower
Bobby McKenzie replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fully agree. This kid will be an out and out champion. Love his composure for one so young and inexperienced. Off his back folks. -
AND, 16 EFFECTIVE KICKS!
-
6. Cameron Bruce ( Best on the ground ) 5. Brent Moloney 4. Ricky Petterd 3. Liam Jurrah ( So exciting) 2. Mark Jamar ( Arrived as a ruckman) 1. Brad Green
-
Yes, I can just imagine the umpire cringing when he sees that footage at the tribunal! He'll wish he had never made that report. Poor Petterd was literally trampled into the ground.
-
6. Bruce 5. Grimes 4. McLean 3. Green 2. Jamar 1. Moloney

I have just finished reading the newspaper tributes to Jim by the general public. I admit to getting a bit teary when I read them all. Supporters of ALL TEAMS were so supportive of Jim. I reckon 3/4 were from other clubs. What an influence he has had on all football loving fans as well as the teenagers of Victoria. What a CHAMPION, what a MAN! You WILL overcome this mate, and be around to see the mighty Dees take out the flag. If ever anyone deserves this to happen you certainly do. Get well soon Jimmy and best wishes to Sam and family.

Don't know about the word brilliant! He had a TOTAL of just 8 possessions, with only 2 until 3/4 time. Kicked 3 goals in the last Q, 2 of them being rather fortuitous or being in the right place at the right time. I still like our man Watts. Anyway, we will all be able to compare the two next Saturday when we play the Weagles at the 'G'.
-
Bruce - Effective all night. Grimes - Cool and assured. Martin - Athletic and agile. Jetta - promising young colt. Watts- Encouraging signs tonight. Jurrah - Love his composure.
-
-
True, and we didn't drop our bundle in the last Q like the Blues did! Roll on 2010.
-
6 .Green 5. Bruce 4. Davey 3. Johnson 2. Moloney 1. Jurrah.

Thanks for the feedback and discussion guys! 'Yes, Yes, Yes, NO'. Sounds like the Vicar of Dibley doesn't it? It would be good if someone like Cale could make it to the big 300.
-
A mate who is a WCE fan asked me today if there were any other Melbourne players besides David Neitz to have played 300 games. My answer was 'NO'. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong here? I did think of Norm Smith, but I don't think he played that many. Over to you my fellow posters!
-
Fully agree. Nic Nat will never be as good as Jack. Sure, he has athleticism but is very raw on skills. Watts is a NATURAL footballer. It is silly however to start comparing the two already after one game each.
