I wouldn't know - and suggest that you wouldn't either? Jack could have been given a full and frank appraisal of his year, but nothing more. Is that "not doing the right thing". To be honest, I don't know if in the two days after the last match (which is all they have apparently) the FD and everyone else involved could have come to decisions about trade/list matters. Not forgetting that until late on that last Sunday afternoon, everyone was hoping/presuming that we'd be playing finals - I don't know that to trade/not to trade Jack Watts would have been at the forefront of anyone's thinking at that stage or even in the 48 hours following. The idea of moving Jack on may well have not concretely arisen till the days/week following when the FD sat down and started to look at the future and review the year in the cold light of day - which is when Connors was contacted (I believe). Of course, I have no idea, just putting forward a possible (and plausible?) reading for why the club may not have done the "wrong" thing. Even then, I'm not sure of the protocol for exit interviews vis à vis future trade options etc. I seem to remember in the case of Tyson he was in holiday mode post-season at GWS and got a call out of the blue from his manager about a potential trade to Melbourne.

Every coach we've had has tried to "reimagine his role". We've seen him as a sweeper across the back line, ruck, forward, mid, you name it. At the end of the day he just finished 21st in our B&F. (I know injuries, blah blah blah). (FWIW he doesn't have the tank to be a mid.)

Yes, I know. A player's trade value is ultimately determined by what his football manager says in the press. Every club will know exactly what they're getting, and they'll have their own criteria for evaluating each player. The rest is just background noise.

You're right. MFC is for MFC. As it should be.
-
We will if a) there are multiple clubs in the running (which seems to the case) and b) we make it clear that it's second rounder or nothing (which seems to be the case).

Adelaide won't accept anything else than a first rounder plus something else (2nd round presumably). Nor would we, and nor would you expect us to.

Simon Goodwin. Impressive. Take no prisoners. -
Where?

Argumentum Ad Ignorantium

Don't agree. Getting rid of a well-liked player is always going to cause angst and a backlash. There's no way of "handling it" that that doesn't happen. The statements coming out of the club have been measured and reasonable, no-one's publicly trashing Watts. If you want an example of a club badly handling a player leaving, look at the Adelaide/Lever situation, where the club (and players/captain) have gone out of their way to crucify him.

What facts? Roos is no longer at the club, he's a media commentator.
-
I'd be very surprised if he had the final say. Final say on list management would be with Viney and Mahoney.
-
Take it up with the Manager of the Football Department.
-
Irrelevant. To anything.
-
Disagree. From what I can see, not uncommon across the AFL once exit interviews are over and the players are no longer around the club. Player managers are there for a reason.
-
Seriously? Have a look at the post 2 down from yours. It's a screenshot: "Watts tours Geelong facilities." The AFL: everyone knows everything.

Adelaide?

And everyone anyone else wants to trade is a dud.

2017 Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy

Au contraire, Hibberd clearly DID get the votes he deserved. The issue here is that your criteria for being deserving of votes are not the coaches criteria. Also, this is judged by points over the whole season, and Hibberd didn't really become AA Hibberd until a bit of a way into the year. On the other hand, he finished strongly, and as we all know, that counts for a lot in terms of how we make judgements. Yours included. Finally, Hibberd had basically the same votes as Jones, Lewis, Jetta. Hard to argue with. -

Not a surprising or left-field winner in Oliver, though what is surprising is that he's done it only his second season. A legend looms. On the other hand, speaking of left-field picks, Richard Thaler has just won the Nobel Prize in Economics. Unfavoured, even though he almost single-handedly turned Economics on its head and started a whole new field (Behavioural Economics). Thaler has written quite a bit about drafting in American football etc., and I'm sure he would have approved of our strategy to land Clayton. -

Jones, Lewis, Hibberd and Jetta just about a tie. Seems pretty accurate. Hibberd unlucky on paper, but when you look at the votes, he was more or less equal third, difference is miniscule. Good to see ANB polling well, hope it spurs him on to bigger and better next year. -

If "having issues" means "not working", yes. Tried various browsers, nothing, just the opening banner and some background music (being kind). -

Bartlett: I would particularly like to acknowledge Jesse Hogan. We are all proud of you & marvel at the strength you've shown this year. -
I've never bagged him and aren't about to start, whatever the outcome here.
