  1. Assuming Yze is still injured the potential in's for me are Whelan - a walk-up start - and Holland if we want him to come in and play on Rocca. As for omissions Brown and Ward are virtually always candidates IMO, and one of them is effectively a straight swap for Whelan. Frawley or Bizz might make way for Holland if we want to keep our structure the same, or we might go taller since McLean is probably getting closer to full fitness and drop both of Ward and Brown. After a win I imagine ND will want to keep a reasonably settled team, so Dunn might have to wait another week. While there's not an obvious swap in the forward line for him (or Newton) he apparently played a good game for Sandy and it'd be nice to see him play. STILL M.I.A. (best squad) - Rivers, Moloney, Bartram, Pickett, & Yze.
  2. That's a shame because Brown definitely deserved a mention. Next time
  3. Miller, Ward, Godfrey, Holland - need I go on?
  4. Not even best-25 IMO. Pretty lucky we lack pace or he would have played far less games the past couple of years.

    No Passion?

After reading the MMM thread, it seems you offend easily I too agree with most of what he says, although I don't think Neitz would have to Captain until he was 40 before a strong alternative candidate arrived - I'm pretty sure McLean will be set to lead the team sooner than 2015 The article is a little all over the place, but one thing that should be pointed out while injuries might not be reason we're not in a position to take the flag this year. I won't go over old ground but I'd say it's more about the gaps in our list rather than the lack of angry letter writers etc.
  6. Or kicked it to Wheatley, who was all by himself on about the same angle but ~15 metres closer. Great to be there to see a Dees win
  7. Of course there are a hardcore group of MFC supporters, and while BT's comments over time became increasingly exaggerated they effectively mirror what I've been reading on this forum the past few weeks. Fwiw, to make it extremely clear I didn't say that the issue was about the idolising of players. I was simply stating that just as I don't 'get' fans idolising people because of their talents at say singing or kicking a footy I don't understand why MFC fans would cry - literally - about BT's comments.
  8. It was a fair generalisation if the consensus on here is to be believed - you seem to read most threads on here so cast your mind back a couple of weeks to threads on this very forum making generalisations about the snow season and fair weather supporters etc etc. Regardless, I still don't 'get it' - but I don't 'get' idolosing Melbourne players - or other sports people, actors, singers, etc - as people simply because they're talented at their profession either
  9. Pretty tough to know all there is to know about the guys that actually play for the respective AFL teams, let alone the blokes who make up the final 5 or so on the list.
  10. Neitz kicking it backwards when Wheatley had run forward and was free inside 50 was hysterical. Listening to the coverage on MMM post-match ND said a bit of a chuckle while saying something like 'big Neita had the big 'R' for reverse flashing in front of his eyes'.
  11. You're right that he's not, but why does he have to be a CHF or nothing?
  12. I'll go against the grain and say I don't really care ;o If I turned up one week and there was no trumpet when we won I wouldn't mind. Can't be a bad thing though
  13. What's that in reference to? I was at the game so didn't watch any TV coverage.
  14. Perhaps you were blinded by your disgust at BT but Lyon did said why not Lyon also said that he wouldn't work as an assistant while working in the media because he felt it put you in an absurd position, and he said commented on other assistants working as special comments men etc. He cited the year 2000, when I think he was working as our forward-line Coach. One example was grand final week, when and knew Bruce(?) wouldn't play on the Tue night but had to pretend he was throughout the week. He also cited another example where he was working as a special comments man on a MFC game but knew all our plays. He said this wasn't fair on anyone - Club, his broadcasting employers, etc. With regards senior coaching, Brayshaw asked Lyon if he would coach MFC next year if they came to him and gave a blank cheque and the freedome to get whoever he wanted to help him. Lyon said he had spoken to Silvagni and read the Roos piece and accepted that if he were to Coach he'd need to do an 'apprenticeship'. Lyon explained that he'd been out of the game too long and would not coach MFC next year. I think Lyon presented some very honest answers as to why he wasn't working as an assistant coach and why he wouldn't be a senior Coach next year - he explained why MFC could find a better man for the job as he wasn't ready. Fwiw Lyon also said that he'd always say yes to 'lending a hand' when the Club wanted it in the future, and had done so in the past. I was at the game and it didn't seem that way to me. Perhaps the effects mic was turned up louder than normal... PS. I'm pretty shocked that anyone could get so upset at BT's comments - some people are taking his opinions way too seriously.
  15. Young rucks take time to develop. If we trade White our ruck stocks are PJ, Jamar (if he's here in '08), perhaps Neaves, and anyone we can draft in. Unless we got a ready-made ruck somehow we'd be in dire trouble. No thanks. With Neitz departing soon I'd probably look at keeping Robertson. We could probably afford to lose one of the three older midfield types.
  16. Pretty weak team. Petterd in the middle after three games? I rate him, but Miller on a flank isn't terrible - if people thought about him in that way instead of expecting him to be a CHF he might not get as much criticism. Still shows the (lack of) depth in a QLD side. Interesting to see Lillico named.
  17. Just quietly, I think the other 15 AFL list management guys are going to read your post and discover that - surprisingly for them - guys like Godfrey and Miller aren't that good Thus we're not going to get much in trades. I agree with you re: our young kids - both that they look good and that we lack some bankable KPP options for the future.
