  1. If we only win two games I'm pretty sure we'll get the spoon, given our average losses are pretty large. You're right though - it'd be a weird round 22, and not beyond the realms of possibility.
  2. Bell's faults would be magnified in the midfield. Better off trying him up forward IMO, considering he played as a forward when a junior.
  3. I don't think so - one of Whelan's greatest assets is his reading of the play, and I don't see Bell has the same footy nous.
  4. Yeah, but for us to be a risk of losing the spoon, we'd need to win more games in three weeks than we've done in 19 - can't see it happening. As you say, Port at AAMI's a tough one.
  5. One more time: !! DUDE !!
  6. At least it'd be more dispersed.
  7. No offence intended, but sometimes the mind boggles... As a Port Adelaide supporter, I'd be very annoyed if my Club did that. Thus, I think it's a one-sided trade that is easily in our favour, and thus it won't happen. If someone offered us picks 17 and 18 for our pick 6 and 25, I'd be furious if we took it. Thus, it's probably a terrible trade that no one will agree to.
  8. I agree. What's the source? 'Inside word', or just the recent newspaper reports re: Green's contract? It sounds like you're making a statement of fact, but it's tough to differentiate your presentation of fact and opinion sometimes (cf. Bode in the other thread)
  9. Good changes - glad we'll have a couple of targets up forward. If PJ missed, I imagine White would have survived the cull. It's his opinion, but it's one I think is on the money. Nice one
  10. Last I heard, we were undecided as to whether PJ would play this week. His surgery isn't until next week, and the injury is one that he can manage. Although I read an article where Monaghan stated that PJ was done, I wouldn't be surprised if he played, given earlier comment from the Club.
  11. Sometimes it's easy to look good in a good side, particularly when you don't get much attention from the opposition. How quick is Prismall? Is he going to offer something significantly different to the mids that we already have?
  12. That's what's been reported previously (ie. in the week leadnig up to the Freo game). Fwiw, while MacNamee made a decent effort to get fans to the game v Freo, I haven't heard any sort of marketing for this game.
  13. Sure, I'm not saying I had my crystal ball out regarding Geelong's future. However, at the end of 2006 it was pretty clear that we were going to struggle, as our key players were getting on, while we also had many players in our best 22 who were still young and inexperienced. Thus, I don't see that it's valid to say we were at the same point as them - maybe on ladder position, as you suggest (although I thought that while we made finals week 2, they finished outside the 8), but certainly not when you looked at the lists.
  14. Our list was in a totally different shape to theirs two years ago, IMHO. Two years ago, it was pretty clear that our flag opportunity (if we had one) was passing us by. I imagine Geelong's list wasn't as old as ours, when it came to key players.
  15. :D PS. Do you work in tech support?
  16. I'm not sure Meesen was a fan of Cameron, was he? I believe it was Cameron that went after him, yes.
  17. I'd suggest there are a few obvious reasons - - We won't be in flag contention during his career - We have poor facilities That'd be enough for me, but there are probably more reasons (instability perhaps being one of them).
  18. PS. Agree it's poor form to copy/paste posts.
  19. That's a prime example of misreading the flag contention window and taking a long-term hit for a (dubious) short-term reward. I'm not sure I'd be using Pickett as an example of a good decision. We could have been sitting on a kid ranked 28 in the draft (plus nabbed improved picks with our last two in that draft) a couple of years ago, instead of memories of Pickett's 29 games from 44+ possibles.
  20. I guess he knows better than us.
  21. If our focus isn't on building for a premiership, we may as well give the game away right now.
  22. We know where he's at - it's not a good place. You don't need to play someone at AFL level to see where he's at - you can do that at the lower level (where he's struggling). He's being outperformed by Spencer, our rookie. Why does Meesen deserve a gig when Spencer's rucking better than him? Performing at Sandy is enough of a challenge for Meesen atm. Once he's conquered that challenge, lets give him the AFL challenge.
  23. You can't base your recruiting on the off-field IMO.
  24. I can't see why we'd do that...
  25. Indeed - the reason I suggested that Spencer would be a better bet than Meesen if we were desperate to debut a ruckman... Jamar and PJ are first-choice, with White to play if we've decided PJ's already done.
