  1. I think the debt demolition 'month' has been a really good idea, because I don't think this sort of call-to-arms is something you can keep going indefinitely. The direct-debit options are a good idea to keep money coming. I think people will make sacrifices, but to ask them to do that over a long period of time is a big ask - 'donation fatigue'. I believe Stynes has asked supporters at one of the events (luncheon or dinner) to consider donating half again next year - might be something he asks all members to do. That'd get us close to the $5M mark.
  2. They won't. You won't even have 10% of members at the event, and I'd say that the majority of those will probably have already donated. Absolutely. Donating money to a football club - particularly if you already buy a membership, which is essentially a donation for many - isn't the top priority for many people. Who's to say that's wrong, either? Not I. The only thing that's pathetic is people lambasting people for not donating money to a football Club, IMO (particularly when, as members, they're already contributing $ - which for the majority is at least part 'donation').
  3. I never said your concerns were unwarranted... ...simply that it seemed you hadn't read the article when you initially posted (given your comments on whether or not Judd was receiving payment + the need for an AFL investigation). It'd be interesting to have an answer to this question:
  4. Not advocating for a Jones trade, but in genreal, the longer you wait, the less potential is left to explore. If you think the upside is relatively small, but another Club feels the upside of a player is quite large, they may be willing to offer you more than you feel the player's worth.
  5. I don't think we need someone to come in and make an immediate impact - we won't be in contention for a while yet. Dermie on Watts: "if Melbourne wants an excellent longterm prospect that will assist its structure from 2010 and beyond, then this boy is a target." ^ Sounds good to me.
  6. Sounds interesting. How do you work out the weightings? Manually? Based on the betting markets? Are they static (fixed)?
  7. Haha. The new MS Paint picasso!
  8. You're watching the wrong show if you want substance. It's really a variety show these days. I think it used to be a bit more focussed back in the Eddie days.
  9. I agree, and if reports from the luncheon are correct, I wouldn't be surprised if Newton missed.
  10. Were you in his year level? IIRC Robert Harvey and Jeff White went to the same school as PJ, but I'm not sure the school footy helped PJ.
  11. I'd play him in the position he normally plays in. I haven't heard of him playing up forward. PS. Garland first crack at Richo.
  12. You asked about whether it's honorary and said it should be looked into. The article clearly states Judd is getting paid, and also reports that the AFL investigated. That's why I was asking you about whether you'd had read the article, not any of the other stuff
  13. It'd be stiff to drop Wheatley after a pretty good season.
  14. Grimes is definitely playing: - Melbournefc.com.au It'll be interesting to see who gets cut from the extended interchange.
  15. I agree. As you say, Option A gives more prominence to the 'Demon', which everyone apparently loves. It's probably more kid-friendly too, and lets face it - older people aren't going to jump ship because of a jumper I'm not a fan either. Tell the AFL, not the MFC - directly, or via the media. Indeed. Fwiw, votes at 1:1 ratio atm.
  16. Given comments apparently made by Bailey re: not wanting to give guys like Bate, Dunn, and Newton 'token' games if they don't deserve a gig, I wouldn't be surprised.
  17. I'm sure they'll be happy to continue taking your money It's not at all surprising, although I do think the number of supporters donating money will grow. Many supporters feel their membership is a donation, and that's already at least ~$165 for the standard 11-game membership. I can understand that many supporters have other priorities.
  18. They are still on our list atm, and will be during trade week. Cast your mind back less than a year to a similar circumstance with King and others at Geelong.
  19. Post #24 did it better (or at least, sooner)
  20. I wasn't there, but apparently there was over $100,000 raised on the day (news courtesy of 'Grand Plan' at Demonology).
  21. I agree. It's easy to remember the last couple of years, which account for a small percentage of his time with the Dees. Good comment.
  22. We'll know what we have to do - or not do - after the WCE v Geel game on Sat. It's all academic until then, but you're right re: the possibility of an absolutely huge losing margin.
  23. That's not far off the figure the website has listed recently. 380 is a great show, and I'm sure there were many who couldn't make it. According to debtdemolition, almost $2.7M (2.695) has now been raised.
