  1. I accept that. I know Jay Clark and have played footy against him for years in juniors. As a journalist he just regurgitates the words of others, offers nothing insightful. Don't like the guy and he's not very bright. Was just using it as an excuse to have a dig at him cos I was bored.
  2. You know, if I didn't know better, I'd think it was school holidays...
  3. Who are you arguing with? Most of your points are either not relevant or have already been answered.
  4. Takes a while to put together a video like that. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
  5. ??? I fear a lot of posts on this thread have gone way over your head.
  6. Maybe in the distant future we are well stocked, but Meesen and Spencer are on the rookie list, Watts and Fitzpatrick are severely underdeveloped physically, Gawn is recovering from an ACL. Leaving only Jamar, Johnson and Martin. But 3 should be enough for half a season. Just don't expect Jordie McKenzie to get elevated mid-season unless there is an LTI.
  7. I'm sure that all of these exact same conversations have been had and points been made about 6 weeks ago, except we were only 97% sure of the outcome.
  8. Can't disagree. I did hear all those things, but obviously it escaped me that he's from QLD. Cést la vie. ps. Billy Madison... -
  9. Unless there has been another rule change I'm fairly certain you are wrong.
  10. I remember a young Robbo in a long sleeve
  11. No. Not to my knowledge. I know that the 2 veteran listed players take the place of 2 spots on the rookie list. Its not related to elevations tot he senior list though.
  12. Oh yeah, it could be all bull$%it, but its just a synopsis of all the things I've heard over the course. The fact I was hearing that Joel was extra keen to come back to Vic just after midseason leads me to believe that was true. But Joel himself makes me sound like a fool. Edit: I didn't even read the last line of your post! Damn... he is too... somehow I forgot that... doesn't change what I was hearing though. But now I'm even more sure he's made me look like a fool!
  13. For us to be a flag chance I don't think he'd get a game. Weak defensive efforts wouldn't be tolerated.
  14. My thoughts were a bit muddled at that time of night and the Miller thing was just a throwaway line... Essentially, I think we'll be a bit thin in the ruck for the first half of the season with only 2 real ruckmen and a part-timer. Once we reach the midpoint of the season we are able to elevate a rookie and my money right now would be on spencer. If we have a minor injury or 2 we could struggle.
  15. I wouldn't want to see him in another team's colours. He is a player of a bygone era. Clubs won't recruit guys like him now.
  16. No problem. Whether he's just trying to downplay what happened or not, I'm not sure, but here Joel paints a slightly different picture. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/bris...f-1225810758916 Jay Clark also shows how little he knows about Melbourne's list. Weak pretty boy wa%$er.
  17. Its just occurred to me that currently we have 5 ruckmen on the senior list, 2 of which are kids. Gawn has a bit of weight on him but will be recovering from a knee injury and playing Beaker in the ruck at his size would just be cruel. Which only really leaves Jamar, Johnson and Martin who has played the majority of his AFL footy in other areas. If one of them goes down with, say, a bad hammy... that's 4 weeks under a bit of pressure. Rookie elevations can be made for long-term injuries only. If I could put money on which player would be elevated from the rookie list mid-season, it would be on Spencer or Meesen... unfortunately for young Jordie Mac. ... anyway, we could end up seeing Brad Miller in the ruck as we did briefly against Richmond in round 19.
  18. There were whispers well before season's end that Joel wanted to come back to Victoria. The way Voss left him out of the finals side, he must've either known Joel was certain to go or decided he wasn't good enough, or both. He wasn't necessarily seen as part of what was culled as it wasn't good enough to win a flag - Voss said he came to the conclusion his players weren't up to it when watching the GF, and that was the catalyst for him trading/delisting a quarter of his list. Joel was already out of there before that happened. Knowing this was a fait accompli I think many teams would've offered peanuts for Joel on the trade table. Either way, a trade wasn't done. Joel was still insistent he wanted out and Voss either was happy for that to happen or conceded he couldn't retain him. MFC would've made him a sizeable offer, as, among other things, they needed to reach the minimum 92.5% of the salary cap, which they were a fair chunk short of. Plus, nominating for the PSD with our committing to select him would mean that he was a lock to return to Victoria - the ND would've been rolling the dice much like Luke Ball did. Word was that Freo were quite keen. Beyond all of that, I have never heard a bad word about Joel MacDonald in football circles and there are a lot of players about whom I have.
  19. What's the owner's name again? I can't remember, I just know he has heaps of horses and property up mansfield way...
  20. Chris Gayle only rocks cos he plays for the other mob. If he was ours he'd be lambasted.
  21. I'm sure its just a calculated move to stop him from over-training.
  22. traditional or outdated? That photo of Ronald Dale only reinforces that the jumper we have now is better by far. I think some people are missing the point of all this -- it is not to exactly replicate our jumper from a bygone era.
  23. I'd love to see the Carlton version!
  24. ... any wager, you say? Edit: I don't even pretend that I'm too classy to say "I told you so."
