  1. A man in serious trouble. Some are revelling in this latest incident, but the fact is the guy has an addiction and to call him an idiot shows a lack of understanding of addiction & is too simplistic. Another angle on all this - if Casey don't sign Fev, they may have jeopardised or even fatally wounded their affiliation with MFC for a bloke that never evens plays a game for them.
  2. If they sign Fev we can't just renege on the contract. We will be stuck with him in 2011 no matter what the eventual outcome. Hearing that it should only cost $500K to field a stand-alone VFL side makes me change my position - I think the sooner the better (although, I am skeptical over the monetary figure).
  3. Where has this idea that Watts has been poor precipitated from..?
  4. Fanciful imagination. Although the media are just as quick to jump to foolish conclusions...
  5. Ugh. Really?? Is this honestly what you think? And I'm not sure it's possible to be dropped for the first round. Left out of the side maybe. In any case, I doubt there'd be any headlines...
  6. A lot of effort put in, which is great... But what is the point? My understanding is that most teams will miss players accruing points due to injury, & with no emergencies, this will create an imbalance. The best performed team could get that mantle purely by the luck of having the least injuries, even if it is the "worst" team. No?
  7. James Strauss is named in the side, yet is in doubt with a hamstring complaint. In fact it was mentioned in an article on the club website: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/108978/default.aspx Trengove could easily be a late inclusion. I'm not concerned either way. Unless it's a career threatening or long-term injury, it doesn't worry me. This is a development year. A few games missed here and there are largely inconsequential, as are wins.
  8. Great to see it in an article, but really the club would be derelict in it's duty of it didn't make use of the resources it has at it's disposal. Just off the top of my head, I can think of a handful of people the club should be making use of that are very successful in their industries, yet their relatively low profile would mean they are anonymous to everyday supporters.
  9. Surprisingly poorly written, for all the positive feedback it is receiving. The bar has been lowered - thanks HeraldSun.
  10. Greed is not the motivation - it is expansion to ensure the future strength of the game. If you're not moving forwards, you're going backwards, etc. I think the detriment to our young forwards' development will be minimal, while the as yet unmentioned benefit will be that Fev draws so much attention, he will have already alleviated some of the spotlight unfairly applied to young Scully. This wouldn't have the same affect if Fev had have signed with another VFL club. If he is at Casey, I understand it's not ideal, but it's far from a disaster.
  11. Was the kid born with a full moustache?
  12. He was bottom-age as an early pick in the same draft where Michael Hibberd was not even taken. He is far from the finished article, yet Essendon are willing to start putting time into Hibberd starting now. Blease should be afforded that and more.
  13. I don't think there's any chance it won't.
  14. He'll be there 1 year max. In the end, I'm not convinced it'll make much difference at all (to Melbourne, to Casey it will be massive. And when I say Melbourne, I mean the club's future success and development of their players.)
  15. Yep, anyone who thinks Morton's spot on the list is in jeopardy, doesn't have a clue what they are talking about. I'm more worried about him going to GWS than Scully. If the Giants are smart, they'd be offering him a decent-sized contract.
  16. It's preseason people! These games are for a bit of experimentation, practicing certain systems and to get match fitness. The winner is not important. Breakdowns in execution are not important. Turnovers are not important. Skill errors are not important. Have none of you played footy and played in practice matches yourselves? The result is inconsequential. And lastly, what was the injury to Strauss..?
  17. Well you didn't think about it enough, because you missed the most obvious answer. Unless you purposely left that out because you were trying to skew the situation to suit your own agenda...
  18. Possibly the most obvious answer - GWS have tried to approach Scully, but his management have rebuffed their advances at Scully's request because he wishes to concentrate on football in the season finishes. Not rocket surgery. Think a little.
  19. Is anyone 100% positive we have not practiced the press at all this preseason? A bit of conjecture here. And what's to say we weren't practicing countering the press, rather than applying it?
  20. Terrible terrible thread. Reading into things that arent even there.
  21. Maybe you should read my entire post. EXACTLY like Pendlebury and Sylvia and a host of others... They've made the decision to do the same thing for a reason. The TV rights deal and the CBA. That's not to say Scully is determined to milk us for everything he can get, to lock up $800K a year so we can't afford guys like Trengove. It just means the club may offer him an extra $25K or $50K, which he'd deserve, but the club might feel it is out of our reach without knowing the final implications of the ongoing negotiations. The stance Scully has take is fair, reasonable and in his best interests. I dont understand how anyone can have a problem with him doing that.
  22. But that is clear; because he and his management sat down and decided he should concentrate on football and deal with contracts at the end of the year. For the exact same reasons someone like Pendlebury would. No one is accusing Pendlebury or Sylvia or a host of other players in the same boat mercenaries.
  23. Gubby Allan's plan coming to fruition. Spread rumours. Sit back. Let the idiot brigade's imagination run wild. Scully gets harrassed by said idiots. His environment not as appealing as it once was. Scully searches for an alternative to escape that attention. It's so damn simple, yet some very simple people still don't seem to get it...
