  1. Im looking foward to next week. The hawks have smashed us the last couple of times so we need to turn it around. We have won 3 in a row and going for a finals position. I know Nth are in 9th spot but im banking on the saints knocking them off next week. There are going to be some great matchups in particular Frawley on Buddy Franklin. Hawthorn will be annoyed at dropping the last 2 and will be fired up to knock us off. Im expecting thme to be agressive in particular towards our youngsters. Bring it on I say. It would be great to see all the red and blue army out there like there was today.
  2. I thought Watts did some good things today. Ok he fumbled the ball a few times but so did others. He gets himself into good positions and I've noticed that he gets himself free a lot of times but players wont kick it to him. It happened a few times today. I think he could be a bit more selfish with his goal kicking. he gives it off a lot when he could go for goal, but that's not a bad thing. Just means he is a team player. His passing is excellent. That pass he did to Dunn in the last quarter in the goal square was a pin point 55-60 metre kick. He is getting better and better and its nice to hear his critics in the media have been quiet and I havent heard anything about Nick Nat for weeks.
  3. It was great to wake up this morning to hear Tim Watson say Melbourne Football Club is now debt free. Its just fantastic what Jim and Chris and Cameron have been able to achieve in just 2 years. Im also glad to be able to doante $50 towards the cause. My question is do we still receive assistance from the AFL? You know how they give us money and the dogs as well. Do we still receive this or now can we stand on our own 2 feet. It would be great the day we can say to the AFL we dont need your money. Anyway great work. I just heard Garry Lyon on mmm and he spoke about last night and couldnt believe how great the facilities are and the amount of money people donated. he also said its nice to see the premiership cups on display instead of being in a cupboard where they used to be.
  4. Im planning to go to Box Hill this week to watch the Casey game but was just wondering if the Casey Scorpions cards we got with our membership get us in for free? If not how much does it cost to go to the VFL?

  6. On Today Tonight they did a story on the Ox and his gambling situation and talked about when he finished his career he was a mill in debt because of all his gambling issues. He also spoke about him never dealing with his fathers death. Anyway one of his closest friends is his accountant who obviously helped him out and David gave him a copy of his book. Matthew White then said the book would be available at the end of the week. I think it would be a fascinating read and always thought the Ox should bring out a book. The book is called All Bets Are Off. Its also good to see he hasnt gambled in years and he had counselling to deal with the death of his father.
  7. I have nothing against the guy personally but i just find the whole thing unneccessary. Are we paying this guy. Seriously I just dont think we need a trumpeter and his red valvet jacket playing. Now he thinks he is so popular before he plays our themesong he plays some other tune and at half time he thinks we still want to hear from him. I laugh when listening to the radio when he breaks out on what the commentators say about him. Im all for entertainment but we dont need this guy.
  8. Ok I get that Bate wasnt great last week but does anyone remember his game against essendon 2 weeks ago. He was our foward who would run back and mark it then kick into our 50. I think Bate is a great lead up player and can kick goals. We have dropped a goal scorer. Its more pressure on our 2 youngsters Jurrah and Watts. Nothing against Addam but he better come out and actually touch the ball. I would have liked to see Aussie come in to see him in our foward line with Jurrah crumbing off him now that Davey is up the ground. Yeah i read that Brad Green had a finger injury. Hopefully its not one of those dodgy ones that keep you out. If there is no green then Bate will definitely have to come in. Moloney sounds like he may miss. Will be a big loss.
  9. I thought for sure Bruce's goal would have been nominated for goal of the week. Rhys shaw and Matthew stokes got nominated and someone else. I know it wasn't as flashy as Shaws goal from the boundary but Bruce ran hard for his goal and set it up beautifully. It wasn't bad for a 30 year old.
  10. Pretty good effort to be at the game last sunday. At least his final game that he saw was a win. I noticed on the MCF website it says the office is closed today from 2:30 because of his funeral. Pretty quick to have the funeral 1 day after. He obviously did alot and was obviously a great mentor to Dean Bailey.
  11. Ive seen David Neitz a few times this season at at MCG sitting near Jim. On another note I had Peter Costello sitting near me in the members last sunday.
  12. I really liked the look of our foward line yesterday and it is exciting to see it develop. Jurrah will get better when he has played a few games and that tackle he did was brilliant. Green is just getting more courageous and his pack marks yesterday were great. I loved how we just kicked it long to Bate everytine and he would mark it. I know he didn't many goals but he sets them up. And Watts will get there. Sometimes yesterday he could have been a biot more selfish and went for goal but chose to pass it off. Also I find Watts gets space and is often free alot but know one kicks it to him. Anyway I think Watts will get there. Has anyone noticed how we aren't hearing much of Nic Nat anymore. Maybe cause his team is on the bootom and he had only 6 possies ont he weekend.
  13. I wonder if he will be live in the studio or it will be a pre recorded interview with Damien Barret or Hutchy. Either way I will be watching. Love ya Jim. Im guessing he will be on early if live in the studio. Maybe its to do with the call of arms where you wear a yellow ribbon to support cancer because essendon usually wear them against us.
  14. I guess that what happens when you watch sydney news. Don't get the full facts. But why would the collingwood development coach move to the edge of the oval where we were training to train 2 of his players. Why not just move to the wing of there oval. Anyway I guess Casey are training there now until there ground gets fixed. Anyway they are mentioning it on ch10 sport tonight.
  15. Just saw this on this afternoons ch9 news which is sydney news by the way. They said that melbourne had booked to train at Gosh's paddock and Collingwood rocked up to train as well at the same time. From what I saw we basically told them its our training session and bugger off. Glad to see us stand up to them and show them its our ground to. Can you imagine what Mick and Ed would have been saying. It would have been along the lines of how dare they come onto our ground that we have been using for years and tell us we can't train. Melbourne have never had decent facilities and now they want to use ours. Well guess what its a public oval and its ours now.
  16. I know I can go to any pub but is the Bentleigh Club or even Leighoak still available. Im guessing the Bentleigh club could be the best place. I take it they will show it live?
  17. I knew Miller would come in to replace Bate. That was obvious and fair enough. Just hope he can play well. Thought Hughes was a bit unlucky. Sure he hasn't set the world on fire but he has taken some great marks and last week wasn't his fault. Our foward line was set up poorly. Surely Miller can take the ruck duties as well. Port only have Brogan and occasionally westhoff. If it's wet Spencer would be no good. Actually if its dry the same applies. I hope Aussie is fit and right to go and they aren't just putting him in because of the whole Darwin thing. But it's good to see him back as I feel he is one player we have missed. the crumber around the ball. Loving the inclusion of Morton. Hope Warnock is just soreness and nothing more. He's pivotal to our backline. Well its good to see some players coming back.
  18. Good to see jack in. Can you imagine Dean's press conference tomorrow. See how long before he gets sick of J Watts questions. Im yet to see Watts play live so im looking foward to it. Im a little sick of the media saying how Jack and Nic Nat are going up aginst each other. Unless jack goes in the ruck or Nic Nat plays down back they won't be near each other. I sort of get where they are coming at tough. But Jack don't worry about it. Just go out there and play your game. I know you will be a good player for us over the years. Can people just remember Nic Nat was playing seniors in the WAFL and Jack was playing for the under 18's and school footy a year ago. Jack will come good in his own time. Anyway will be interesting to see how many possies Nic Nat gets. He has been averaging around 13 a game. If i was Jamar in the first ruck contest I'd just put the leg up and show him who is the dominant ruckman. If we win which we should I wonder which radio station will get jack watts first to interview.
  19. Should Bailey make any changes for next week? If we had won I doubt we would have but we only lost by 4 points. I can't see who is pushing. Watts is still a few weeks away, Hughes deserves to keep his spot and we will need to keep PJ in the team because Jamar will need backup for Nic Nat and Cox.
  20. Bailey was on SEN this morning and he said during the 3rd quarter he thought did I drop the word. He apologised this morning and said his kids who love Before the Game have put him in for tool of the week and were giving it to him this morning. He says it's not a good look and regretted it.
  21. I have noticed that Johnson's name has been appearing in the best players for Casey a few times. I know he is coming back from an injury but what about him coming in next week for pettard. Jamar looks dangerous when he is foward but he can't do both. Im more confident with Johnson in the ruck than Spencer. I know Watts will be in the VFL for a few more weeks. But if Johnson came back in he and Jamar could rotate in the foward line and ruck work.
  22. Im not surprised we lost today as this season we will have ups and downs. Mind you I was expecting to win and I was very disappointed. But losing will put us back on track and focus I hope. Winning 3 in a row the media were building us up more, talking finals, talking about our youngsters and how good they are which isn't a bad thing but some people may got ahead of themselves. If I was told at the start of the season we would be 3-3 and beat brisbane and adelaide(I would have expected us to beat Richmond) I would have taken that and been happy with that. We are playing exciting footy and we will lose games along the way but at least we are improving. Id rather be a melbourne fan than an Adelaide one right now.
  23. I know we are not at our home ground and personally im not a fan of the ground but we are a huge chance to win our 4th in a row. But if we can get a huge turnout of melbourne supporters then we can make the atmosphere more better and cheer louder and make more noise than the north suppporters. We are playing exciting footy at the moment. So get along and hopefully it will be victory number 4.
  24. I was thinking god I hope we get 20,000 to the game jsut so we don't have to hand out a cheque. So when 36,000 was posted up on the screen I was rapt. If that game was a year ago we would have got half that, probably less. Trust me I sit in the mcc memebrs (Yes im also a MFC member) and there was a lot of noise going on. Trengove practially got a standing ovation when he came off after kicking his 1st goal. Michael Roberts kept saying on the radip about us supporters and how much noise we are making. I loved the atmosphere last night.
  25. For the past 2 seasons I have turned up with no expectations on the team and sat back and watched the team play. Shockingly if we won I would think we can only afford to win 1 or 2 more to get the priority pick. But this season I exepected more improvement and we have it. I have loved the last 3 weeks. Our crowds are up, supporters are on there feet cheering our players and we are winning. I have loved watching our backline, love how Trengove and Scully have slotted right in, loved when Scully kicked that goal last night everyone ran to him, , have enjoyed watching Jamar turn into an awesome ruckman, loved seeing Bate and Pettard improve, loved seeing Jim there and congratulating every player as they come off the ground and lastly its great to see Dean Bailey get rewarded for his coaching efforts. Lets just keep on winning.
