  1. how would you have any clue what we 'could' have done? We WANTED Melksham and Kennedy and that's what they COST. We can't just TELL a club what we would like to give up for their players.
  2. It's so childish around here at the moment, this attitude of 'waaa why not us, we want a Dangerfield' do people realise that these clubs don't just get handed these players? They have had to pay through the nose for them. We on the other hand have got ordinary players at an ordinary cost. Who's to say Treloar/Dangerfield won't have injury problems their whole careers while the first round draft picks that were given up for them may eventually go on to provide much greater value?
  3. Well that's one of the dumbest things I've read here in a while
  4. Then it's not a lottery. A lottery implies that any number you pull out of a hat is just as likely as any other to be a winner. The history of the draft shows very clearly that there is a correlation between quality and higher number, but of course you are correct that there are both good and bad exceptions. However, the bottom line is your probability is higher and that's why clubs covet them. Don't you think it's a bit of a fluke that Hogan, Brayshaw, Tyson, Salem and Viney (realistically) are all high draft picks? Conversely, your odds of getting a Toumpas are much lower. Then of course there is the quality of the club developing them that factors in.
  5. ha! Where did he finish in the demonland votes? 19th, that's where. Roosy had him pushed up about 10 spots for trade value. If you don't believe me just use your memory banks to recall how many games he had an impact in.
  6. Huh? He already stated he was going to play out the last year of his contract. What where we going to give GC? Howe and Pick 6 would not have been enough.
  7. I just want to re-state what I posted in the final round this year: Posted by Curry & Beer on 03 September 2015 - 11:03 PM in The Taylor Made Trade and Draft Board Sorry, just to make an addendum to an earlier post now that the teams have been named: The following are injured, or added to last week's 22 Dawes, Frost, Kent, Lumumba, Pedersen, Petracca, Trengove, Tyson, Vandenberg PLUS White, Harmes, Brayshaw, Kennedy-Harris That makes a total of 35 'in the mix' at the moment This means everyone at Casey this week are 'ranked' 36th best at the club, meaning they are the bottom 9 players on the list including rookies. This is where Toumpas is currently at. The others in this unfortunate group are King, Fitzpatrick, Riley, Terlich, Bail, McKenzie, Hunt and Jamar. I'm neither for or against JT at this stage but can anyone argue with this logic? Now look at those bottom 9 players and think about who has been moved on. We quite clearly showed how highly we rated Toumpas this year. It is not surprising he would try his hand elsewhere, nor is it surprising that Port would only offer pick 50 for a player we so obviously do not value.
  8. Hogan, Brayshaw, Salem, Tyson and Viney (in reality) are all going OK
  9. to be fair, there is a terrible season in between those posts
  10. yeah I wouldn't want a logical point to slow down your pizzing and moaning and crying like a little girl as usual fair dinkum you are soft
  11. It's as if people don't understand that we actually have our own free will and have deliberately decided to make this deal. It wasn't forced on us. They obviously have their reasons.
  12. because everyone around here rates Toumpas and Howe so much come off it
  13. Appreciate the work but wtf. You have listed about 20 outcomes that need to come together. Hundred to 1.
  14. Not having a go, but I must point out that any discussion into what happened with Dawes and Lumumba has zero relevance to what is happening now with Howe and Kennedy. Zero relenace is actually overstating it, it is of negative one relevance.
  15. Surely we should, now that C'Wood are getting him, be looking to prise their pick 7 from them. If we hold 6+7 that can make something big happen. Now, clearly 7 for Howe is fanciful - so in order to make it happen we need to either a) sweeten it for C'Wood with the use of another pick/player (unfortunately we only have pick43 to play with due to the Melksham trade) OR b) it needs to be a trade that involves a 3rd party. That HAS to be our goal at this point. THEN the question is, what do we do with 6+7? Just because it's not on the radar at the moment, doesn't mean it can't just spring out of nowhere like the trades that got us Vince, Tyson and Clark. I refuse to give up just yet that they aren't brewing something special in the caulron.
  16. I agree with you in general, and I am also one of the few trying to shine a little positivity around here at the moment BUT I can't help thinking when I read your comment about this: In 2009 we finished dead last. At the best and fairest, Brent Moloney (who finished 2nd) made a speech in which he said words to the effect of 'we are on a path that we will not deviate from, if you want to go play for Carlton (refrencing Brock McLean) then good luck to you (read: F you). After that we appeared to be on the rise before it all crashed horribly. Historically badly, in fact. My devil's advocate point is that we have all been here before, being asked to believe that we'll get better, and when we get better we will be the ones landing the big fish.. but it never happens. We say it every year, but my word is it is a big season coming up. We NEED to keep improving and be pressing the 8 at least, to give us the leverage to snag somebody big a year from now then in 2017 we can really do some damage. Just re-reading what I just wrote is depressing.

  18. I think you know why. Bad results, uncertain future, bad timeslots, small crowds, no respect.
  19. but we just don't know we dont know what that actual deal was supposed to be, what else it involved and whether it would have gone through without Collingwood being in the picture we don't know what the player drafted at 3 would have been like vs the one at 6 we don't know if Howe will become a superstar we don't know if as a result of all this we will end up better off by making an entirely different trade with another club/pick/player you might as well be frustrated by the idea that it might rain in a fortnight - you can't predict it and there's zero you can do about it
  20. Also, Mahoney has been at the club in some form or another for 7 years. In that time, almost EVERYONE from the admin to the coaches to thew players have been shuffled in and out. If JM is so sub-par how he has survived all this turmoil over the years?
  21. Agreed. Roos said himself all season long that we would be targeting an A+ midfielder.
  22. and if you have to 'phone it in' for a couple of them go ahead and pick the miserable old dees, nobody will care
