  1. You must be joking. The entire point of this thread is to demonstrate our IMPROVEMENT. I think everyone seems to have forgotten we lost 8 of the first 11 by 10 goals or more, including beltings of 90,94,95 and 148! We were genuinely considered the worst side in the comp! yes.... below average = not good. Thanks for pointing that out. But slightly below average is a whole lot better than worst in the comp. Surely you can understand that. Secondly, what are you talking about.. context? The word AVERAGE means that you boil down every team on every ground in every weather. Go ahead and look, you will find every match is close to a game total of 28 goals and 102 i50s. It is just a matter of which side has the majority and minority of them. Generally speaking if a side wins by 4 goals that means it was 16 goals to 12, with 58 i50 to 44. That is what the term AVERAGE means.
  2. you wouldn't think so but clearly there are many on this board who need to have the point hammered home and supported with data, yet they still argue
  3. sigh for those of you who insist on ignorance by attempting to dispel the importance of the inisde-50 stat, here is a another lesson On the left is average inside 50s. On the right is the ladder.
  4. also the byrnes miss from the set shot, Wattsy shuld have just kicked it from 50 instead of passing it
  5. exactly and the [censored] population around here tends to borrow most of their comments from what they hear on the telly. The amount of times I have read somebody parrot a response as if it was their own is ridiculous. it's the main reason for Naitanui-overrated-itis for example
  6. trengove and watts missed three goals between them by a whisker, the amount we lost by
  7. again, for the third time, I've just demonstrated that our ability recently to get it inside is very close to league average
  8. it's not great but obviously if we get it I50 47 times across 4 matches, when the average is 51, it can't be THAT bad. Don't forget that it includes Viney, Toumpas and Trengove, all who are a long way off their ceiling. Even Jones and Grimes haven't peaked yet.
  9. Sylvia Frawley JACK Fitzy JACK Viney JACK Trengove Terlich aplogies: davey, byrnes, garland, howe, watts
  10. That's the current AFL average outcome for a game of footy. Here are our last 5 weeks: round-i50-score r17 - 50 - 11.9 r16 - 19 - 4.6 r15 - 36 - 13.7 r14 - 56 - 15.13 r13 - 45 - 10.9 now clearly there is one big howler in there. I think most of us are intelligent enough to know what caused that howler and can accept it is the exception to the rule that the other 4 results provide. the average outcome of the other 4 is: 12.10. 82 with 47 inside 50s again, the AFL average is 14.10.94 with 51 inside 50s so across 4 weeks of footy we average 4 less inside 50s and 2 less goals compared to the average side. I thought we were supposed to have the worst midfield in history.. right? You think next year maybe Hogan and Clark might turn a few more of those entries in to goals? cos I sure as hell do. You think that the 8 players tonight who have played 16 games or less just might have some improvement in them left? Yeah me too. I just wanted to use the stats to paint the picture for all of you out there who are too dumb to have noticed our improvement because the only thing you can see in a football match is who got the 4 points
  11. me too, and I consider myself quite a pessimist by nature
  12. guess what the first 8 guys on that list have in common.. they've all been around longer than JT
  13. pft what's your 'enlightened observation'? 'I want Trengove to be the best midfielder in the comp and he's not so I'm angry" yeah great thanks mate
  14. save your breath mate 90% of the people on this board are too thickheaded to look past the negative emotion of losing to actually think about football we have improved about 1000% over the last 5 weeks but losing makes that improvement invisible if you are a blockhead 8 kids out there tonight with 16 games or less under their belt.. hogan and clark next year on the end of 50 entries inside 50 you do the math
  15. you would swear we lost by 100 reading this if Garland had not got hurt we would have won that and you would all be singing a completely different song never mind we had 50 entries i50 and won the clearances, and that with the second qtr aside we kicked 10 goals to 8 wouldnt have minded mitch clark at the end of those 50 entries either kent, clisby, fitzy, viney, blease all these kids were pretty good davey and byrnes their best games for the year
  16. ffs we are down by 2 goals, bunch of cry babies you lot are
  17. or he has man with a mile of space and somehow still manages to eff it up
  18. correct Brown is one of those players that has an absolute day out nearly every single time they come up against Melbourne. Our backline is solid, FRawley, Garlo and Tommy Mac should be able to keep their goal tally low even if they burn us for I50 entries
  19. it's enough to make grown men weep a genuine talent, a league-elite standard that we have lacked for so long, whose presence alone makes us a significantly better side, and the key forward we have been crying for since Neita hung up the boots and it looks like he's stuffed.. FML
  20. anybody feel like Nicho has played his last AFL game?
  21. ffs Brissy are 13th on the ladder. This is neutral turf, although it is more like our home game as we have played up there several times and trained up there. We have 1 player missing from our best 22. We won a match 3 weeks ago and gave a good showing against the swans. Last week we got shown up badly by a quality side with a big home ground advantage and wet weather that heavily disadvantaged us. I expect us to win this match.
  22. Full House + 1 I believe this is the first time all 5 Jacks have been in the same 22 (?)
  23. Exactly my thoughts It's a very worrying sign when you have 10 injuries and 9 of them evoke a 'meh' response
