  1. Seems like a long time since I out Grimes in my best players.. he's a bit of a worry IMO
  2. I DON'T CARE ABOUT JOSH KELLY, OLIVER WINES OR NIC NAITANUI
  3. Salem looks like he could be anything, he is pure class
  4. disagree completely.. what is pathetic about it? You finish 17th and ten games of footy later you nearly beat a side this top of the table on 9 wins 1 loss. There is nothing to be ashamed of if you are happy and proud of that massive improvement and you are excited about what it means for the future
  5. Some didn't give Tyson a vote after 30 touches and two goals, obviously BOG
  6. 6 Tyson 5 Dunn 4 N.Jones 3 Vince 2 Pederson 1a.Frawley 1b.Salem
  7. I didn't really care that we didn't get the points, they were fantastic today. The fact we gave them a 4-goal start made it even more impressive. The umpires crucified us AGAIN. We are 3-7 but could very easily be 7-3. We are only going to get better and better and I am thrilled and proud of the club at this moment. It is only 9 sleeps until we smash Collingwood in front of 60,000 and I have no doubt we will be watching the Dees in September 2015. PS I am sober.
  8. Mate are you just giving us your gut feeling as a supporter or do you have an authentic source for this information? Thanks
  9. our average points against is 80. That ranks us 10th best defense. BUT if you can indulge yourself to consider it an anomaly and remove the Eagles game our average points against is 75 75 x 9 = 675 lowest scores against Sydney - 659 Freo - 660 Port/WC - 685 so we'd be the third hardest team to score against in the league
  10. Disagree - league-wide there are so few of these players and they are all so important to their respective sides. It has also to do with how a side structures up. We have been missing this since Neitz left (bar a brief affair with Clark) and IMO it has really hurt us structurally. It's a simple numbers game: You have 1 or 2 genuine monster key forwards but you have at least 10 blokes rotating through the midfield - as a result the pool of genuine quality midfielders across the league is at least 50, but in the KPF department it is about 10: Cloke, Hawkins, Walker, the Riewoldts, Franklin, Tippet, Pavlich, Kennedy.. they get very scarce after that. I would go as far as to say it is the most important position on the ground apart from the bloke that wins the most clearances - but your team has a number of chances/options for players to develop and compete and rotate that role, a KPF is much more specialised and unique. It is the same reason why these blokes tend to get higher priority on draft day. There's also a marketing POV, people just love a spearhead to go and watch kick bags. PS I seriously lack confidence that "Hogan, Watts and Dawes up forward with Gawn coming through" is a solid and reliable enough hand to be holding if we are hoping to be having a flag tilt in a few years. Take Hogan out and it is particularly shakey.
  11. absolutely worth it, i'd give pick4 + Frawley in a heartbeat we get ourselves a genuine coleman medal type with a decade of footy in him that would be a massive piece of the puzzle yes I am aware we have Hogan.. maybe
  12. fence is being provocative !!!!!!!!!
  13. I still don't understand the reason why this apparently results in bad football. You can say he was too young to be a good captain, but why not a good footballer. Same as the 'we debuted Watts too early' argument.
  14. 2011 Moloney, Rivers, Frawley, Jones, Trengove, Garland, Jamar, Martin, Watts, Sylvia 2012 Jones, Grimes, McDonald, McKenzie, Rivers, Garland, Howe, Trengove, Frawley, Dunn 2013 Jones, Garland, Terlich, MJones, Sylvia, Dunn, Frawley, Trengove, Howe, McDonald Just looked at this and was very surprised to see .. he's just not a player I remember having much impact on many games. Then again, placing 5th-8th in a side like that isn't exactly a huge achievement. Loooong way to go before he lives up to that draft description above
  15. Yes that was one of the stated reasons. Like our facilities being a stated reason for Judd. Nobody has ever come out and said 'yeah I am doing this for the money'. They would be crucified if they did. So, in lieu of the truth, they feed us rubbish and apparently many (some in this thread) eat it up with a spoon and a silly grin on their face. Oddly, we live in a society (and I'm not just talking about footy but everything) where everybody thinks it is totally acceptable to prioritise money over everything else, yet to be honest about it being your true motivation is frowned upon and simply not done. If anyone thinks Ablett would be at GC if the opportunity offered the same amount to stay at Geelong you are just a simpleton. Wake up.
  16. Judd - leaves the club that made him captain and gave him a flag, for the money. Has the opportunity to captain the side he grew up loving. Takes dodgy salary cap loophole with the biggest scum in the comp instead. Ablett - leaves the club that is practically synonymous with his family name, that is the second oldest club, that gave him premierships, to go to a frigging expansion side two of the best of recent decades, both totally, 100% sold out oh and Franklin, Goddard take your pick
  17. until somebody offers $1 extra on his contract
  18. agreed but you have to back Roosy! Grimes will be probably be the best tagger of all time by the end of the year!
  19. wouldn't surprise me if they doubled the width between the goalposts at GWS' end or let them play with 19 blokes onfield just to protect their investment fairness is not their priority, money is
  20. He can thank the fact that there are different rules depending on who you are and who you play for
