The Viney pick - another plan to force him to the 2nd round
Dr. Mubutu replied to Cheesecake's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't understand all these qualms about his height. As an in-and-under midfielder, surely it's better to be a little smaller? - Lower centre of gravity; harder to tackle - Lower ball drop; less time to be pushed off a kick - Able to get into smaller spaces.... Sure, these things may seem minuscule, but we are constantly being told that AFL is a game of 1%ers.......wouldn't you, then, want as many of them on your side as possible? And realistically, are we really hoping for him to take a bevy of contested marks? If anyone is: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. -
Brad Green's Retirement - It's Official
Dr. Mubutu replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, he wouldn't. He'd be lucky to get a kick with our pox midfield. -
We may want to watch it, wouldn't want the media accusing us of <REDACTED-AFL Integrity Committee>

Must be the Silly Season... now Dane Swan suspended for 2 wks

Collingwood FC to be brought before the AFL's integrity committee for rigging the results of the Brownlow medal count. -
And the Goats have just managed to sneak in on percentage! Let's do this - 8th to premiers!

Thank Christ. If either of these guys were to leave, we would have been dead in the water. Hopefully Chunk is on a significant pay rise!

6 - Jones - Once again, gave his all all day. Quickly realising his potential: obviously loving Neeld's new world order. 5 - Green - Alluding to his best form. Although I do have reservations about his next year, since it'd only be a rookie spot, I'd have no qualms about keeping him on, especially given the dearth of senior players on our list. 4 - McDonald - One of the few highlights in the continuing lowlight that is 2012. 3 - Grimes - Slowly gaining confidence and form. Will definitely grow to be a massive figure of this club. 2 - Sylvia - Couldn't deny him votes, but would love to see Col have this kind of form against a decent team. 1 - Howe - Doing some good things, and is slowly lifting his work rate. edit reason: reasoning given

Honestly, no arguments from me. Easily the two best on ground.

But finally the Spencil gets a win.

Would love to get Cornelius, but I don't think he's all that 'big-bodied'. Perhaps I'm just being fooled because he plays in a forwardline with Jonathan Brown......

I'm hoping the Galahs are as well. I've had some shockers in recent weeks.

DZ Deathrays absolutely killed the main tent during a huge downpour on the Friday of Splendour. So much so that I didn't even realize that we were in the middle of a hailstorm, such was the level of the sonic assault from just a guitar and drums.

Dees by 22. There's that denial rearing its ugly head again.

It is terribly interesting that NO OTHER CLUB that blatantly tanked has had to deal with the scrutiny that MFC has. Carlton: Need I say more? Collingwood: There is no way known that 2005 was a 'fluke'. Richmond: Hmmmm...... West Coast: 2008/2010, anybody? Fremantle: Didn't they 'rest' about their entire starting 18 when they had already secured their finals berth when playing against Hawthorn at Aurora? If MFC get some kind of kick for this, I damn well hope they point the finger at other organisations. However, given the silence from the club of late, I don't hold high hopes. -
Just back from Splendour, and will be leaving some stuff here over the next few days. First up: Django Django; played their first Australian show at Splendour on Sunday, and their live show is well worth seeing. Full of energy, and the recorded sound really doesn't do it justice. [media=] edit: wrong day. *facepalm*

Stages of Grief - where are you?
Dr. Mubutu replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Depends on the day. In the few hours before the game: Denial. During the game: Anger. After the game, for one or two days: Depression. Wednesday and Thursday: Acceptance. From Team announcement to game time: Bargaining. Let the good times roll. -
So what you're saying is that we'll be a retirement home soon? I thought we already were.

If only more than quarter of the team were a decent kick. You have to wonder what exactly they're doing at training to have skill levels this poor. I've said it before and I'll say it again: we just have a list of DUMB footballers. Blaming the gameplan is the world's biggest cop out. They've had 10 months with this gameplan and the skills are still pox. Bring on the mass delistings.
