Expect to get done on a technicality here old dee - if you click on the energy watch logo, it directs you to the kaspersky home page. I notice how the players at either side of the page has changed from Chip and JT to Jones and Green.

Generally Dee, I totally agree with this comment. However, I think in Liam's case, it is a unique situation. Coming from where he has to where he is, it would have to be one of the toughest things to deal with. If he felt having Aussie around helped him semi-adapt to "city" life, then I can imagine it would have some impact on LJ if Aussie were to move back. I'm not trying to sound like a smart arse, but try imagining having to shift to Yuendumu, finding someone who you can relate quite well with, then for that person to move away leaving you there on your own. While I appreciate he has 3 or so years to get used to the city way, it would still be a big loss for Liam.

BRFE, I commented on the fact that LJ has played many games without Aussie. But in the limited games they have played together, LJ seems to do things that even for him are freakish. Just watch the Sydeny and Hawthorn games from 2010. I think even Bruce commented in his call that they are like a pair of naughty school kids, that they just do what they want to do.
-
Very valid question Armstrong, and one I have raised in the past. I have no doubt Jurrah goes to a different level when Aussie is playing along side of him. While LJ has played a number of games without Aussie, and played well in some of those games, if Aussie were to return "home", I hope the support network around the club will ensure LJ remains focused.

Anything under 50% is a fail! Maybe we've been too soft in the past referring to a 4 out of 10 as an ok game! Expectations MUST be raised!!!
-
Well done HT - 1 out of 4 give him an "ok" mark. As I said, maybe my opinion isn't different to what most think. And besides, you're talking about 1 of his 3 Grand Final appearances. Care to shed some light for me, in the minority, on his other 2 GF outings? No doubt you will try and convince yourself that 1 (in your words) "ok" performance and 2 pitiful ones still doesn't mean he goes missing. Whatever makes you happy HT. I'm happy with my assessment of Neon Leon, and looking at many sports reports, it seems to be a popular opinion.
-
Would it be so that Fox can show all games live? They wouldn't be able to do that for double-headers unless they do the viewer's choice thing like they do with the NRL.

A great example of when stats don't tell a true story. http://www.heraldsun...f-1226155164208 http://playerrater.c...-Player-Ratings http://www.foxsports...3-1226155719872 http://www.afl.com.a...91/default.aspx Considering he was an All Australian, it is those types of quality players that you need to stand up in finals/grand finals. Leon isn't one of those players that can do that. Perhaps my opinion is not one that differs to most.
-
Oh HT, I love this part. My opinion obviously differs from most? Did you need to put that in there to try and look like you are right and I am wrong? Davis was terrible in the Grand Final. Show me one match report that has him in the best. I'll even go one step further HT, just for your benefit I have found the Hun's rating of each player in the Grand Final; "LEON DAVIS - 43 Gave his opponents Grand Canyon-like space. The man who didn't get a touch in the '03 Grand Final didn't lay a touch on a Cats forward in the first term, with Varcoe and then Stokes making him pay. Provided rebound, but next to no accountability." I find it more than interesting the highlighted the efforts of Leon in teh 2003 Grand Final. And that 43 rating - that's out of 100. But sure, I'm in the minority that thought his game was terrible.
-
What reason? For them dropping him or them drawing? I think it was well publicised that he was dropped for poor performance. What misinterpretation? I said that Davis goes missing in finals, and in particular the past 2 GF's that he has played in. Your quote was; "He played ok in the GF. Didn't vanish there. And they won a Premiership the year before !" Well, if you meant he played ok in this year's GF, I suggest you watch the replay and I'm sure you will change that opinion. And the year before, they drew the first when Davis played, he played terribly, they dropped him, and won the following week. Pretty much supports my opinion doesn't it? Does make it hard when I reply to a post fairly quickly, and by the time I've finished my reply, you've edited your original post.
-
Well said Thomo. Love Jimmy to death, but we are a long way from being a top team. Just watch any of the finals matches from this year - the gap between the top 5 and the next 3 is massive, then the next 3 after that is a little bit behind them, and then we're in the next bit (if that makes sense??!!).
-
He vanished in the first Grand Final - they drew. They dropped him in the replay - they won. HT's original post (the pre-edited version) read a bit different to what can be seen now.
-
Early prediction of 12 wins.
-
Poor them, and actually, poor you! How did you edit your post without it coming up that it was edited?
-
It's my opinion RP, with no evidence to support my views. I'll just be happy to be proved wrong!
-
When I say vanish, I mean that he plays poorly in finals. Ask any Collingwood supporter and they would say they are better off without Leon in the finals. Oh, and BTW, Davis played in last year's first Grand Final, but didn't play the replay game because of...POOR FORM!!!

I had made a deal with myself not to comment on this again, but I can't understand how anyone can say we are better off without him. We'll have to wait for approx 10 years for a definite answer, but I am totally convinced our midfield would look better with him in it than without him. Sure, we wouldn't have got Clark, but it might have forced us to play Martin or even Jamar at Full Forward, fasttracking the development of Gawn in the ruck. Bloody hell, now I have to go and see my shrink again. Argh! -
While he had a great season in 2011, you can't afford to have players that vanish in September/October if you want to win a premiership. I think we have a couple like that on the list at the moment. I hope I'm wrong.
-
I just find it laughable that as far fetched as the idea is, you still think we have grounds to state our case because we won't be playing consecutive games at the MCG, therefore, having 4 home games in a row should be considered. My original post just explained in quite simple terms why the idea wouldn't work, yet you had to come out swinging, as always, to make yourself feel superior (or more educated - the thing you have a fetish about). It gets pretty boring after a while.
-
Far out B59, I try, I seriously try to understand your posts, but WTF are you talking about in this one?? In response to the "ideal" 4 games mentioned above, if we are to play GWS in Melbourne, it will be our home game. Collingwood always give us teh QB game as a home game, the Darwin game - regardless of who we are playing against, is a home game that we earn $500k from, and the proposed GC game at the MCG is obviously our home game too. Regardless of where these games are played at, it would mean we play 4 home games in a row, which means we would only have 8 more home games to spread over 20 weeks (meaning we will have to have at least one period of 3 away games in a row). There's no "maybe" about it - it is far fetched. But it's nice to dream.
-
4 home games in a row? Don't think they would allow it would they?

I've heard that $cully Snr is having 6 weeks off next May as he will be entitled to Long Service Leave by then. -
I don't have "2nd" teams.

It'd be like taking the wife back after she slept with your best mate.

Have you been to Metricon since the upgrade Vagg? Would like to know your thoughts. I've been there once, sat behind the goals/scoreboard end, thought it was great. A lot more atmosphere than the Gabba!
