  1. Is it sick of me to say that I would rather sit through 4 hours of crap than 2? That said, some of Casey's football in 2012 was probably enjoyable compared to what we offered.
  2. How will it not? Any increase in crowd numbers to our games means everyone will benefit. But without doing a full feasibility study on it, I'd imagine; * Gate takings would increase. Who gets that? AFL would get some, we would get a fair chunk. Do MCG get that? * Increase in crowd numbers = more spent at retail/hospitality outlets, car parking, etc. Again, I'm sure the MCG would get some of that through the tennants (is that how it works?). * If we are getting more people to our games, and generating more memberships from it, the AFL would need to give us less handouts. I'm sure if a feasibility study was done on it, we would have sufficient evidence to show the positives outweigh the negatives.
  3. Hence my comment about whatever favours we need to do to whomever. It will make us money, it will make the AFL money, it will make the MCG money. Just do it FFS.
  4. Does Geelong not play reserves curtain raisers? Hardcore Demons will go to Casey. Average Joe Demons won't. If you were Ballarat/Warrnambool/Western District-based, wouldn't it be more enjoyable going to a game at the MCG when you knew you could get there a couple of hours earlier and watch the reserves? They make some changes and go back to the "old" ways, this would be up for us to drive. As I said, Geelong do it.
  5. I think he'll stay... In all honesty, does anyone else think he has that type of "smile" that tough bastards get when they know they are about to belt the crap out of you? He'd be swinging them and still have that smirk on his face. I like that he has that look.
  6. Is Phil playing Mummy or Daddy? I think it'd be the former.
  7. I would love for us to take over this club (or whatever we have to do) and be known as the Casey Demons. First things I would do are; * Get that pokies licence back (somehow), and build a social club at Casey Fields. * Do whatever favours to whoever we need to to make sure we play some Casey Demons games at the MCG as a curtain raiser to our home games. It would only be for our (MFC) MCG home games. I have no doubt that this would increase our home game crowds, as well as generating more interest in the VFL competition. As it stands, most MFC supporters located west (probably north as well) of Melbourne would not have seen a Casey game due to the location of said games. We also need a Demon Shop in the city, but that's a different argument.
  8. While I'm fully aware that it is voted on by players, coaches, etc, I would really like to see Watts getting voted in to the leadership group for 2013. His onfield development will continue, I just hope that what we don't see as supporters are things that Jack has growing in (ie. attitude, training, commitment, etc). None of us on here can tell if this has happened/is happening, so limit the abuse.
  9. Bingo. We are experts at bleeding goals when things are going against us, and I have no doubt this was one area Neeld wanted to address immediately. The around the boundary line play I have no doubt was to try and create as many stoppages as possible, therefore wasting as much time as possible, which limits the oppositions scoring time. The teams that are good or better can change their structures to catch us out on this, and they did. The poorer teams couldn't, hence some close results. Step one for Neeld was to teach players how to forget about the ball and just focus solely on stopping their opponent getting it. Step two will be about stopping their opponent but building their possession tally (increase fitness = better run and spread). I'm probably like most, I demand improvement in 2013. I want to be able to sit and enjoy watching a full game. I haven't had that since Sydney in 2010. Even our wins over GC/GWS haven't been flattering. There were quarters this year where I was satisifed with what I saw - I remember some moments where the pressure we put on the opposition was just fierce, to the point where the perceived pressure was just as intense. This needs to be more evident in 2013, but it's season 2014 that I'm really looking forward to. Is Neeld capable? At this stage he hasn't given me any reason to say either yes or no, but alas, while he is coach I will trust, just like I do with any of our coaches.
  10. A couple that are non-sports related.. The midget psychic that escaped from jail had the headline, "Small Medium at Large". Or the article about the lunatic that escaped from the asylum, was alledged to have sexually assulted a lady at a laundromat, but is still on the run. Headline read "Nut Screws Washer and Bolts".
  11. Surely this must be a joke? From the reaction of many on here over the past few months, surely BG has signed for the next 2 years as a player. Don't tell me he has actually retired from playing? Brad Green - "forced" to retire, now an assistant coach. Cameron Bruce - offered a 1 year contract, wanted two, we weren't willing, left and played 1 season at Hawthorn and half a dodgy one before retiring mid year. James McDonald - "forced" to retire, made a comeback season that was very unflattering. Yet some people still question our list management methods. BTW - well done Greeny.
  12. Dave, I admire your confidence. But the fact that they keep pushing and pushing this issue makes me wonder if they really are making it up, or do know that there is evidence out there and are "guiding" the AFL in the direction of which to find it.
  13. Clint - you can go shove this comment if you ask me. All supporters will have their own views, opinions, etc. Just because some supporters think that we might be in trouble, does NOT mean we have MFCSS. Yes, I beleive we are in trouble. Friends of mine who don't barrack for the MFC think we are in trouble (I will add that I value the opinions of some associates of mine). I don't go throwing around the "head in the sand" line to those who think we've got nothing to worry about. At the end of the day, it's your opinion, just like it is mine, and carrying on with the "MFCSS" crap will not change mine. I DO hope the MFC are cleared of any wrong-doing, but at this stage, I don't think we will be. Why don't you line us all up and shoot us so that Demonland can be the nice happy positive place that you obviously need it to be.
  14. Agree. I'm basing my opinion on the last paragraph that WYL posted. Lookks to me that DMc is saying "if we are guilty, don't punish the club, as the current FD were not involved in 2009". That's my opinion, we'll all come up with our own!
  15. Conspiracy theory #3081; We got Scully and Trengove due to compensation pick/amount of games won during 2008/09, etc. AFL are aware of what we are doing, allowing GWS to sign Scully up prior to the "window" as we originally obtained him "illegally". AFL decide not to investigate our 2009 performance because they knew we would lose our compo pick within 12 months any way. Just a strange though I had and thought I'd share!
  16. Sounds like he knows we're screwed and is hoping to punish individuals rather than the team. Is the sky falling? No. But I have grave concerns for the future of the MFC. All will depend on the consequences handed down by the AFL in my opinion (if we are found guilty).
  17. Ironic hey? He had the first half of his season this season interupted by a bunch of handicaps. PS. Too far? Apologies if so and will delete if it upsets some. Edit - forgot that it's still 2012, so had to change to "this season".
  18. 19. Given the state of our list, and the players tha thave come in... The Wiz.
  20. Rd 23 2012... Buggered if I can see it.
  21. Tough poll B59, given a lot of the answers have to be given without knowing the full story. But at the risk of being shot down, my answers; 1. Adequate. Is he the best out there? No. But at this stage, given a tough couple of years, he has maintain our profitable bottom line. 2. Yes. Unless he is proven to be the brains trust behind getting the qunatity of people involved in these "meetings". 3. No. I'm not going to hang the man without facts. 4. No. See point 3. BUT, if he is responsible, he ought. 5. Yes. Very professional, passionate. Did explain how we made an offer to Clarkson to coach prior to Neeld's arrival. Feast away.
  22. Unless it's a group of players wearing red and blue playing at Geelong. Other than that, as you were...
  23. Don't be puzzled, be unsure like me. The jury is out...
  24. I'm not looking forward to the first intra-club match. Caro will be nut-deep up us if there's too much experimenting going on...
  25. Thanks Swooper. I'm glad Jack has recovered from something he didn't have.
