Christ, in this so called "Superdraft", well, I don't thknk it's called that now but most believe the top players are all quality, the GWS stand to have Picks 1, 2 & 3. FMD, why don't we just give them the premiership in 3 years. Can't see it happening.
-
How many players go to the draft combine? From memory it's around 40 or so. I appreciate that that doesn't mean they automatically fill the Top 40 or so spots, but I'd be thinking that Towers would go well before the 4th round, given the fact that he was invited to go to the combine, and especially if he can produce some reasonable results. If he's there for our 3rd round pick, I'd be taking him (that's hoping we get Viney with our 2nd rounder). Even if we use pick 3 on JV, the fact we are getting 3 x 1st round draft picks joining us, I'd take the punt with our 2nd rounder.

I have to ask, you are saying that we are going to give up ND Pick 3 for MD Pick 2. Does that mean that to get the MD Pick 1, the asking price will be greater than ND Pick 3? If so, that means the only team that stands a chance will be the GC with thie ND Pick 2. If that were to happen, GWS will have pick 1, 2 & 3 in the ND. Are you deliberately fcuking with my head?

We picked up Sellar with a Round 3 pick didn't we? I'd imagine an untapped, early 20's midfielder/half back flanker would be at least equal to if not higher than Sellar. I keep forgetting about Viney in this draft (how could I?!). I still think/hope that we will get him with our 2nd round pick, which in that case, will keep everything crossed that Towers is still available for our 3rd round pick. It will all depend on how he (Towers) goes at the draft combine.

Just read an interesting article on the Hun website about North Ballarat mature age recruit-to-be Dean Towers. North Ballarat gun Dean Towers the hottest AFL prospect from the VFL I'd be terribly surprised if he wasn't around for our 2nd round pick (pick 20-something), and have no doubt looking at his build/style of play, that Neeld would like to see him in red and blue next year. The other amzing stat is the list of players who have won the Rising Star award in recent years, Saad, Barlow, Nahas, Hibberd, and Shave Valenti (ok, 4 out of 5 aint bad, although Shane wasn't that bad, was he?). I wonder if he is on our radar...
-
Only time he ventured in to the centre square was to iron out Sewell, so I'm not sure what he'd know about being a midfield coach...
-
Let's keep going... He played 8 games for Casey this year, kicked 7 goals. He averaged 11 kicks and 6 handballs in the VFL this year, over the past 2 seasons at AFL level he has averaged 9 kicks and 4 handballs. Clearly indicates that he's either not up to AFL standard but too good for VFL (the latter being a whole new argument!), or that when he gets in the senior team, he thinks the hard work has been done. I was surprised to see his tackle average in the VFL was around 4, as was his AFL average over the past 2 seasons, and am happy to mention that so that I'm not being totally biased. Reality is, if things were going his way in the big league, he looked good, but didn't work anywhere near hard enough to consolidate a spot. His best is better than most on our list, but for Ricky, it was when he wanted to show it. We need players to stand up when the chips are down, becasue let's face it, they're down a bloody awful lot. Ricky doesn't fit this criteria, and the players in the same company are being moved on. They are content with playing AFL, they should strive to be the best but they don't.
-
He has kicked 18 goals in his past 19 games. He played 4 games this year and didn't kick one.
-
The only reason why Demonland hasn't gone in to meltdown about making a serious play for Ricky Petterd is the fact that we are the ones that are delisting him! If we weren't, people on here would be giving up pick 3 for him!!!!

What are you talking about? The double standards thing is you criticising a poster for spelling mistakes, when your post had spelling mistakes in it too, then you followed it up with another post with mistakes in it. Just trying to help you Oli. However, I agree that having a shot at someone for getting our surnames incorrect is absolutely warranted. I'm on the fence with the opinion of Neeld. I do agree with the delisting of Petterd.

Depends on the player you are targeting. If they are fringe players that just can't get regular/consistent opportunities at the top clubs, it'd be about getting more senior games. If you are an A-grader, it would be more about the person you are. If you want to come for big $$$'s and are happy to play the remainder of your career not worrying about team glory, then you would look at us. I don't think they are the ones that we want. If you are an A-grader that is all about leaving a Club as they feel that they don't have much more to achieve at your current club (ie have won premiership/s, Brownlow/s, etc), and have at least 3+ years of good service/great play to offer, but most importantly, want to be part of a group of players that want to try and turn the impossible in to reality, then we're the place for you! But again, they will be financially rewarded. I think, not that it's likely, but a player like Bartel would be that type. I reckon we had a chance 2-3 years ago to make a massive play for him when he seemed out of favour (as much as someone like Bartel can be) when Ablett, Selwood, Kelly, etc were the favoured midfielders, and Jimmy was playing more of a spare parts role (a bloody good one at that!). If we are to make a significant investment in getting a top-liner, we need to have someone who will be around a minimum of 3 years at their best footy, and at least 5 years on our list.

I thought $cully was staying, Bailey would be coaching us in the finals this year, and that Jack Watts would be tearing it up at CHF. How the fcuk do I know if Davis should be re-signed or booted?
-
No worries Oli, cheers for cleaning up the double standards that I didn't know about. Nb. It's not to say I agree with what was written. Back on topic, I still think a trade of Petterd + our mid Round 1 compo pick for Caddy would be appealing to the GC. The biggest challenge would be to convince him to come to Melbourne. Petterd would look good at GC.

In my opinion we retired him at the right time. This article is 2 years past its due date, and as we saw in his last game (sniping young kids), he was well past it. If we want him as a midfield coach or something, I'd prefer Ling or Kirk (although Kirk has gone to Freo? I'm sure we gave him a call before them?). These blokes have tasted success and ensured a culture remained strong at their clubs. While Junior was a good leader, I'm not sure if he had that ability. I now prepare for the public flogging that will follow...

Sorry Oli, you're posting is trash at the moment.

For some sick reason, I was so hoping this would be another poll from Range Rover...

The issue for me, and possibly a number of other supporters, is the fact that it took the Melbourne Football Club many hours to release a statement, of which it mentioned that Liam informed them that he wouldn't be fit for AFL duties until after his hearing (ie March), yet in media outlets, on the Port Adelaide website, and even in his/your own comments, it appeared that Liam was leaving to go to another club. We all understand there must be issues with family that we will never understand (not sure if that sentence makes sense!), and accept Liam's decision to leave the MFC based on that. But when it is being reported about him looking to continue his AFL career with a different club, it is any wonder there have been some diappointed postings going on. I don't think you, Liam or the Port Adelaide Football Club did yourselves any favours during the chain of events yesterday. Thank you for coming on and postion what you did. I'm sure most MFC supporters have appreciated your updates over the years, but it won't help the disappointment I will feel should Liam be wearing a Port jumper next year and playing senior footy early in the season. It may not happen, the selfish side of me hopes it doesn't.

Can we please remove Jack, Jack, James, Nathan, Mark and Jack from the Demonland banner, and replace them with Aaron, Jamie, Matthew, Ricky, Lynden and Rohan? Thanks.

Does Neeld think he's the next Kerry Packer? Deciding to bring in a whole new team, still call them the "Melbourne Demons", but will pick the bones out of every team until he finds the "best" list, then launch an all out assault on becomming the best in the world. I wonder how many players out there "have a little bit of [censored]" in them? It's normally the other way around for me... B)
-
Unfortunately we only have 2, and not only do we need another 22 of them to fill a side on a weekend, we need to have another 20-odd on top of that to allow for our injuries! Buggered if I know where we are going to get all these players from, but I think after this clean out, we will be a long way further back than GC/GWS. How can we not be?
-
I don't know if this part is 100% accurate, not in the initial stages anyway. From memory, might have been one of The Coach's Office segements earlier, Neeld was very excited at the prospect that Moloney would be returning "soon" and how much better/stronger our midfield would be with him in it. Perhaps the blind faith Neeld put in some players was led by last year's Bluey winner?
-
It's simple, if he doesn't want to be a part of the future at the MFC, he can [censored] off to Carlton or somewhere else...
-
Wow, an amazing "stat" - we finish season 2012 without our Captain, B&F and leading goal kicker from 12 months ago. Did Dean Bailey get caught shagging Neeld's missus?

Gone (from our shopping list) ... Mackay resists lure home

What are you talking about? The only negative I brought up from the article was against the players, in terms of not getting ahead of themseleves if they start winning a couple of games (as has been done by a number of Melbourne players/teams over the past 2 decades). Neeld has stripped back this team, and will continue to do so until he gets 48 blokes (or however many are on a list) that will agree to his ways. It's going to take a lot of work getting some of those players back on side, and I wish him all the best. I'm far from calling for his head. And yes, the article was full of positives. But to bring this article out 2 days after our season ended with just 1 recognised win on the board, I'm sorry if I wasn't as aroused as you obviously were. If they can produce another article at the end of this preseason/start of season 2013 that shows just how much work Jones put in to Blease, and how Sammy's 3km time trial result was a PB and saw him record a time in the low 9 minutes, then I will very optimistic for what is ahead.
