You're loving this BH aren't you? Sicko!!!

Would like to think we will forward 53 to St Kilda for Ray.
-
Probably upgrade one/some of Evans, Magner, Couch, Nicholson.

I've said for a while now Jaded that Neeld will be a history making coach. He will either be our next premiership coach, or he will be the last coach of the Melbourne Football Club. I don't think there's anywhere in between. I hope it's the former.

I give us a B+. Key points for me; * Moloney and Rivers gone. They were leaders when we needed a strong culture developed. They had the cnahce to step up, they didn't, and in actual fact, they allowed things like 186 to happen. The fact that we got a pick for the 2 of them was a bonu is my view. I don't care about losing experience, becuase it's their sort of experience this club can do without. * We got a top 10 player for pick 26 (or whatever we have to pay for JV). * Without knowing the guys personally, and going from what is reported, the recruiting of Byrnes, Rodan and Dawes are all professional trainers, handy footballers in their own right, are very precise with their perparation and will play the role the coach wants them to play. They won't create the culture - I think it's vital that Grimes, Trengove, Jones and Watts do that, but they will support it immediately, and help build it. The 2 players in point 1 above wouldn't do that. * We still have Pick 4. * Gysberts is gone. I wasn't a fan, so I'm satisfied with this decision. * Jury is obviously out on Hogan and Barry. If Hogan is a star, this year's trade period increases to an A, if he isn't, then we will drop to a C.

Finally we agree BH! It's been a long season, but it had to happen sooner or later! The amount of shite I copped over the past couple of years re JG was amazing. I had my doubts from long ago (about JG), and today has just confirmed that sometimes I do know what I'm talking about!

Going to be good to go from watching a kindergarten team run around to watching a team with men in it.

Am I smelling a "Gumby or Dawes" poll Rangey?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
The Chazz replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think Collingwood would think they are getting something out of that deal. -

Pick 39 would normally be a 3rd round pick (if you take out compo picks). We might get him with our Pick 45. What's that Josh Toy like? Worth 39 + Petterd or am I dreaming? Don't know much about him that's all. -

Pick 3 for MD2 (Hogan) + Pick 20 Pick 4 Wines Pick 13 best outside mid available Pick 20 Dawes + Pick 39 Pick 26 Viney Pick 39 traded for Farren Ray * I don't want Caddy. Has clearly stated (via management) that Melbourne is a Club he doesn't want to go to. * Pick 20 is too much for Dawes, need a sweetener for me. I'm not sure about Hogan, but it looks like I'm going to have to change my mind pretty bloody quick! edit - was just approached by St Kilda and traded Farren Ray for Pick 39. -
What does anger have to do with losing? Have a look after next Saturday's game, see how many tears are shed on the losing team as opposed to how many of those players are walking around punching holes in walls. The players should hurt after every loss. If it happens frequently, we're the ones that should be angry. But if you're going to bash Watts for not showing "anger" on a post season video talking about how crap our season was, then you my friend, are one sad individual. I don't like using this line, and it sh!ts me when others use it, but here goes, "it's supporters like you that this Club could do without".
-
Would be great if it happened, especially if they built/included a social area for supporters to go to after a game. The Gold Coast Titans have a social venue on one of the canals and they take ferries to and from the game (when it's a home game). We could do somehting similar (ie run a ferry up and down the Yarra). Like B59 though, I won't be holding my breath.

I like him. Sorry! Just find him entertaining when it's a non-Collingwood game, and he's good to take the pi$$ out of when it is a Collingwood game. Whoever is playing, I always find BT quite amusing.
-
I'm sorry, at what point in the video did you see Jones wiping tears away from his eyes? I must have missed that part.

Just explain to your wife that it's all about teaching your children how to deal with disappointment from an early age. It's about character building and it will make them a better person because of it.

I have watched a lot of Byrnes over the past 5-6 years. Look, he's ok, he's not a star, but he's a handy player. He's not getting a game at Geelong, mainly becasue Stokes and Christensen are "ahead" of him. Nb. I'm not sure I personally would rate either ahead of Byrnes in regards to that small forward/pinch-hit mid role (I think Stokes is "in" with the right people, and Byrnes isn't). In regards to his (Byrnes') skill level. He's like every other player on an AFL list. He hits targets most of the time, but is also known to produce a clanger. Put it this way, I'd rate his kicking higher than Grimes and Garland, but then, 95% of the league would wear a similar title. While I understand the need to hit targets, there's no player in the AFL that operates at 100% efficiency, and for that matter, there are very minimal players that operate above 80%. The obsession of some on here about a player's ability to hit targets all the time is a concern as it never happens! Where Byrnes would add to the team is the fact that he would work his arse off, so that if he does make a mistake by foot, he's likely to make amends in the next passage of play by running to space and creating a target. When it's all said and done, there are minimal players in the AFL that "can't kick". If Byrnes were to have 15 kicks in a game at 75% efficiency, with 2 of those kicks being goals, then I'm sure he'll serve a purpose.

Do you feel the need to comment on every post? You need to get out more RR, I'm convinced you'd come back a better man for it, as opposed to what we currently see.

Howcroft gets top job at channel 10
The Chazz replied to iv'a worn smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Only problem with the "Being Jack Watts" show is that everyone in Australia would watch the first episode making it the highest rated program for the week, then everyone will jump off it saying it's a heap of crap, and the typical "told you so" would echo through the halls of Demonland when it drops out of the top 10 ratings. Sadly if he doesn't win a gold logie he would be deemed a failure. -

I would like to think that at some stage in the next couple of weeks that an article will appear in the Hun/Courier Mail stating the Melbourne have made a massive play for Tippett, with a potential trade of our Pick 4 being put up. If Gold Coast want him, they will have to come up with a better deal, and really reconsider putting up a dummy bid for JV. Of course, my suggestion of Pick 4 for Tippett is all smoke and mirrors, just a ploy to get in to the heads of the other recruiting teams.

Would love Tyson to come to Melbourne, if nothing else than for me to have the opportunbity of complimenting him on his surname more often. It is one of the classics in my view.

War about to erupt between Richmond and GWS
The Chazz replied to The Great Pretender's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought we'd covered this AFL is not like War argument already??!! Brace yourself WYL...!!! DL, if it weren't for Pay TV, interstate supporters wouldn't be able to watch half the amount of games as we do. When the TV rights were with Channel 9, the only time you could watch a Friday night game was at 11:30pm. If Melbourne played in a Friday night match, I for one was never the happiest bloke going around. Thanks to Pay TV, I can watch a lot of live AFL footy, and am happy to pay for it. If you're not willing to pay for it, then that's your choice. I'm not going to criticise that, so would hope to think that your attitude may change slighty. Cheers. -
Bloody hell RR, it's a novelty award for a spectacular part of our game. I'm not sure who's overrating it, the sponsors aren't as I'm pretty sure 1st prize is about $2500 worth of fuel or something. It's a fun award that means bugger all in the scheme of things, but given that we aren't playing finals, our year was crud, and 1 of our players has 2 of the top 3 nominations, surely we can have a bit of fun with it? If you don't like the MOTY, then I'm sure you won't waste your time voting, and further to that, won't waste cyber space of posting on this thread again. Good day to you.
