  1. I've read this thread, and many other threads and articles regarding the tanking issue. One thing I have to say about what is posted about the topic on Demonland, I'm sick to death of the people who are in the "nothing to see, move along" corner. Can you please remind of a few things? * This is a public forum, where everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Your opinion is that we will get off, some don't have that opinion. What's with the arrogant, smart-arse posting, having shots at people that don't think the same as you? The whole "the sky is falling" crap, FFS, grow up. * How can you be so sure that we are going to get off? Unless you work for the AFL, you are basing this on nothing other than what the media (you know, those people that we all abuse about trying to bring us down) are reporting. Your evidence is no different to those that believe we are guilty, although it could be argued that some of our games in 2009 would allow us to think that something wasn't "quite right". It's pretty ordinary that a number of you took pot shots at DeeGirl for raising the topic. She obviously had the word; no, it's not 100% accurate...yet. She did say that cetain bodies had been charged, which, according to media outlets, isn't quite accurate. People want her to name her source, why? What if she worked at the AFL? Do you think they would want one of their employees posting stuff on supporter forums? If she's got form, I am happy to take her word for it. You soon learn who does have the contacts, or when they get "the word", and it is often clear who has no bloody idea and are just making [censored] up. Deegirl is obviously one that does know her stuff. So, let's try and make this thread a little bit more enjoyable. None of us know what the outcome will be, we all hope it won't be a guilty verdict, but who knows? Not I, or any of you. I do find it funny how when the $cummy issue was around, that the all in the media were driving the "he's leaving", that they had seen "evidence" that he had signed, a majority on here believed it, and it turned out spot on. Yet this issue, the media are driving that "we're guilty" bus, they claim to have spoken to key figures, have knowledge of various incidients that took place in 2009, yet now, the majority are saying that they are out to get us?
  2. Nutbean - you, like me, only see what Judd does onfield. He is a star, and because of those playing wualities you mentioned, that's what makes him one of the best players. I have a number of Carlton-supporting friends, and they all agree, Judd is not a leader.
  3. Maybe Anderson stepped aside when he did because he knows a CEO position will be available should Schwab be found guilty? Sorry, just in one of those moods where I look for conspiracy theories!
  4. I don't think a player who trains hard over the preseason, such as the previously mentioned T Mc and Nicho, should be rewarded with a spot in the LG. Working your arse off and training hard should be the minimum of all listed players. The LG is much more than just who plays well and who trains hard. Judd does both, but he's not a leader's backside. He is one of minimal examples where we, as "outsiders", can sit back and say that a person is lacking leadership qualities. I for one have no idea who is a good leader at the MFC, as a lot of the things a good leader should do would happen behind closed doors. That said, and looking at last year's group, I can't see any changes, other than Bartram out (obviously), and I think he will be replaced by Byrnes.
  5. 1. What are your realistic expectations for Viney and Toumpas, or even Hogan in the VFL? Keep in mind it's their first year. Both play 15-18 games, remain uninjured, and finish Top 5 in Rising Star. 2. Who do you think will take it to another level? Jack Grimes. On the back of his first full season, hopefully he now has the confidence to rely on his body, and tear teams a new one. He is a very good player, but we need him to be a great player. If he can work on reducing his turnovers due to ppor skills over the summer, he could be anything with another 20+ game season. 3. New mature aged recruits, who needs to prove their worth? I'm going to throw Magner and Couch in here. They both need big year's to earn a spot on the senior list in 2014. 4. Last chance, who has flown under the radar for far too long? Rohan Bail. A favourite on here, but I expect better from him. Lucky Gysberts was delisted otherwise I wouldn't have known which one to put here. 5. Combination (as discussed previously) where should all this lead us on the ladder, who are the key clubs we should be beat in order to climb the ladder? We SHOULD expect to win the 4 games against the franchise clubs. We SHOULD expect to win our "home" games against Port and Brisbane. We win against Essendon most years lately, and I think we should seriously play St Kilda and Western Bulldogs with a winning hope. Not sure how many games that gives us, but they are the ones I expect. This will show how much we have improved over the summer, but it'll be the games against Geelong (we had them for 3 quarters down there this year), Carlton, Richmond and Kangaroos that I will pay very close attention to just to see how much work between the ears Neeld has done on some of our players. Edit - was a bit generous in the Geelong game this year. We were in the game up until 3/4 time.
  6. KC and others, I do have to ask, how will this have such a big impact on us, in the immediate future that is? The entire Melbourne list train together during preseason, and I'd imagine for most of the normal season's training sessions. How much do our "reserves players" have to do with the Casey team, other than on game day? Also, while any coach in the VFL will have their game plans, etc, I would've thought that when a Melbourne listed player plays for Casey, they would have certain expectations and plays that the MFC would want them to work on, and that would take higher priority over the Casey game plan. I may be totally wrong. As I'm not in Victoria, I don't have a huge amount of exposure to the VFL. One thing that I will say (which will probably be let down due to the previous sentence), I think the VFL is a total inconvenience to AFL clubs, especially those that don't have standalone teams. The VFL/AFL system as it is doesn't work, and disadvantages teams that are aligned to VFL clubs. The sooner the AFL stepped in and restructured it, the better we (MFC) will be.
  7. The difference between L Cook and myself is that he got a 2 year contract, where I didn't get one at all. On the stats sheet, we were exactly the same, it's just on draft night he got lucky.
  8. There's every chance I'm on your "ignore list" BH, but I'm interested to know why you find it necessary to consistently put others down for doing the same thing that you are doing...sharing their views and opinions. I couldn't give a rats if you don't rate my opinon, I rate mine and that's all I care about. Sometimes others rate my opinion, sometimes they don't. I made reference to the Mr Whippy van as you mentioned a few weeks ago you owned your own business a couple of hundred metres from AAMI Park. The fact that you have ample time to go to training made me wonder what sort of business you could own in that area that would allow you to have so much free time. I immedaitely thought that it wasn't a successful one, and that your time would be better spent generating income for yourself, but I chose the "lightweight" option in Mr Whippy. And sorry, no, I don't follow you around like a puppy dog, and I don't think anyone else on here does. It's an internet forum with many, many threads about the team we all love (most of us). Any new ideas, information, theories, opinions etc, are always an interest, so we will read everything that is posted. The fact that you've been very vocal in your criticism of Watts, and to be honest, quite tiresome with your views, will always be in my mind should he reach the heights that we will need him to to assist us in winning our next flag. I don't have anyone on an "ignore list", I value and respect everyones opinion even if I don't agree. And to be honest, I don't understand why we have an ignore list in the first place. It's another thing for fl0gs like Ben Hur to compare sizes with. Obviously if you're bragging about the size of your "ignore list" you are severely lacking in other areas. I find it hard to believe how someone so arrogant can be so insecure.
  9. What's he won, 2 or 3 coaches awards in a row? I think the coach would think he's a beauty, wouldn't you?
  10. Thanks BH, a very (un)productive response. I'd like to see if you can step away from the counter of your Mr Whippy van and give me some response to my Kent comments. Cheers.
  11. Part of the problem Stingrays, is that Jordie went through a phase where he would have 24 touches for a game, 3 kicks and 21 handballs, and out of the 3 kicks, he'd only hit a target once or twice. From what I understand, the coach asked him to kick more and handball less, and as this isn't a natural part of his game (higher amounts of kicks), his decision making wasn't "elite", well, as elite as some would want it. I look forward to watching Jordie in 2013 and for many seasons beyond.
  12. Why am I going to do this, I know where it will head, but here goes... Jones needs to get more consistent? I thougth his last 18 months - 2 years of footy has been pretty bloody consistent, and am very excited at what 2013 will bring for Chunk. The gap between his best and worst is probably the smallest at the club, and has been that way for a good couple of seasons. If there's one bloke that needs to get more consistent, it's... Sylvia. I don't want him to have the year he's capable of, I want him to have the rest of his career that way. Different to Jones, Sylvia's consistency, and the gap between good and evil is as far apart as heavan and hell. And Ben, please tell me you're basing your opinion on Kent from more than just a 2 minute highlight package and what some West Coast supporter has said on a chat room, who played a game against him once and got a hiding. Gee, a few years ago I played seniors against Alik Magin and he kicked 3 on my in the first half. Sure, I walked off thinking the kid was very good, but he hasn't really cut it at AFL level. I've played against better kids/blokes who have never seen an AFL list. I do take on your opinions BH, but please, give me something else to get excited about Kent. Have you seen games he's played? Anything!
  13. And his John Thomas was 2 inches shorter than Ling's, so what?! As someone kindly pointed out earlier in the thread, Jordie is having his first full preseason, probably ever, and is currently 22 years old. And pound for pound, Jordie is one of if not the strongest bloke on our list.
  14. Depends on your definition of "beauty", Old. I'm not saying he is a star, but the fact that he gives 100% 100% of the time puts him in my "beauty" category. As I said in my original post, if he can model his game on Ling, which would include improving his foot passing, then he could well be a star. Ling was a star, and a beauty! It makes sense in my head!
  15. Jordie just needs to model everything he does on how Cameron Ling went about the game. Ling wasn't a great kick, but made up for it in so many other areas, and I have no doubt Jordie is the same. I'm first to put my hand up and admit I had serious doubts over his ability and his prospects as a long term player. I am happy to admit I got it wrong, as Jordie is a beauty.
  16. On the latest Dees In Darwin clip on the MFC website, Neeld is basically microphoned for the entire clip. He makes a very interesting comment right near the end to Davey, something along the lines of "When was the last time you could do that in December, hey?". It suggested to me that even Flash, who has copped a hard time on here over the past couple of months, has been ticking the boxes that were drawn up for him. Are you training up in Darwin too BB?
  17. Are you saying that the MFC Top End trip is like going to war? (As I slowly leave this thread to avoid any injuries from what is thrown at me...)
  18. I believe FNQ Demon will be attending for the 9 days.
  19. From all reports Jamar has all the prerequites covered to earn the Horse nickname. I didn't think he had a long face and big ears, but there you go. Also, while I love the Priest for CP, what about Herbert (or Herbie). If anyone watches Family Guy you will know what I'm getting at. For the non-Family Guy watchers, here's a sample...
  20. All good Old! But, as I said, we should expect to win the 4 games against the franchise teams. That leaves us with a minimum of 4 for the remainder of the year. We nearly won more than that in 2009... If we win less than 4 against the real teams in 2013, which will be on the back of 1 win against a real team (Essendon - debateable I know!) in 2012, it is not acceptable. I do think we can improve in certain areas to assist us winning more games next year. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying finals are on the. But what has this Club come to that we can't see ourselves winning more than 4 games out of 18?
  21. Yeah, how people continually wrote Adem Yze when it is quite clearly Adam Oozay, I will never know.
  22. I've named 4 of them Old, and there's no wishing there. The next 4+? Well, given the fact that we will have a functional forward line (finally) in 2013, given that we will see a backline that will have more stability (due to our defenders not being required to play forward), due to the fact that we have added some bigger, experienced bodies that whilst couldn't get a regular game in other teams are still handy enough to play certain roles, and given that the likes of Trengove, Grimes, McKenzie, Sylvia and Blease will hopefully have full, uninterupted preseasons (and for Blease, Trengove and McKenzie, the fact that it's another preseason under their inexperienced belt), I expect natural improvement. The odd game that only just went against us in 2012, ie WB (Rd 4), St K (Rd 5), and wins that we should expect against poor performing interstate teams in Melbourne, plus our annual win over Essendon, my expectations are quite realistic, not wishful, when I look forward to season 2013. Anything less is not raising the bar high enough.
  23. I'd still like to think that the 22 games we played this year was all about understanding the workings of our game plan heading in to 2013. If our players started this preseason with no idea of what the game plan is all about, then we're in a worse position than I would like to think. I think it will be an epic fail is we don't win more than 8 games this year. We have the franchise teams 4 times, that, in reality, should equal 4 wins. It also should be realistic that we win more than 4 games against the "other" teams. If we don't, Neeld will be quite nervous at his own end of season review, and rightly so. 2012 was a long preseason getting prepared for 2013.
  24. I reckon the best of all time would have to be Adem Yze. I'm not sure how you spell his real name, but people always threw these letters out there hoping to get it right one day.
