Interesting few little snippets regarding Brent in Jon Ralph's article this morning. Explained that Moloney disagreed with Neeld's game plan of having Jamar tapping to all midfielders rather than just Beamer, and made reference to Beamer telling players on field that they should ignore Neeld's instructions and just let Jamar tap it down to him. No wonder he won the B&F and had as many disposals as he did, he bullied Trengove and Jordie, et al into going against what the coach was trying to implement. Wasn't until the playing group had a say in who the true leaders were before the coaching staff and the rest of us were made aware of how our external view was incorrect.

Put Mitch on the LTI and elevate Couch already FFS! Tell Mitch his preseason break starts now, and he has until the start of September to go on holidays. After that, he has a month of "light duties" and will be ready to go day 1 of the new preseason training.

Thanks for posting this RM, we don't get FC in Queensland so it was good to get an idea of what was said. 2 points that you have posted that I would like to comment further on; 1. The fact that he keeps talking about a forward line with Clark in it next year is a big positive for me. My gut feel was Clark may struggle to get back on the park, but obviously the club is quite positive, which is good to hear! 2. He has a point about being hired to do a job over 3 years and only got half of that time. Regardless of our ladder position, win/loss ratio, etc, etc, if you are told you have 3 years to achieve something, all your planning and preparation is based on that timeframe. If your plan is on track, of course you're not going to have results in half the time. There would've been an expectation that Malthouse would win a flag at Carlton within a certain period - just because it isn't going to be this year doesn't mean he's failing. But, if he had KPI's to meet at carious milestone points and was considerably under achieving, then you have to take responsibility for that.

What's the thing that those blokes have in common? They're all mates. This is how a toxic culture at a footy club starts - a group of close mates get together, of a couple are bitter about something it spreads through that circle, then they try and infect other circles. There is not one player named above that I am unhappy to see running around for another team (I use "running" loosely as I don't think they have played many games in the seniors this year). I just hope Howe is better than those blokes given he is in that "circle". How was McLean treated like sh!t? He wasn't suited to Bailey's game plan, so he went and found another club that would take him, who in turn gave us a stupidly high pick which we happily accepted. At the time it was a win-win for all involved, just in hindsight we lost in that deal because we picked up that spud Gysberts. The only player in recent times that was treated like sh!t was Junior. That decision wasn't wrong, but the way it was handled was.

Is that fair dinkum? If so, wow. I am totally blown away by that. Regardless of what took place, that's a pretty low act. I don't recall Neeld writing "I told you so" on his Twitter account when you were made sub because of woeful performance a couple of weeks ago Beamer.

Neeld Sacked with Craig as Interim Coach

Why was I quoted in that soxy? -
Feel the same Old Dee, I just hope that we see him next year (that's my concern). The Club needs to make the call now. Coming back for 2 or 3 "junk time" games at the end of a nothing season is pointless, especially given that if we put him on the LTI list now, we can elevate Couch who has absolutely deserved a call up to the senior team. Also gives Couch (and Magner for that matter) a run of 10-12 games where they can prove to any interested onlookers (ie new coaches) that they deserve to be upgraded permanently at the end of the season.

I somehow don't think Peter Jackson will have Garry's number on speed dial. Regardless of your personal views about the AFL getting involved in running our Club, it is a refreshing feeling that I've got knowing change is here. No more boys club special treatment. I just hope when everything is sorted from a structural point of view that the players realise that while they are the most important part of the whole process, they don't get to dictate change via onfield statements. -
2013; President - gone CEO - gone Coach - watch this space Funny how in 2013 it will help the Club, but back in 2011 it wouldn't have been ideal. (Nb. I'm not having a go at you PJ!)

I present Jack Jones of Southern Sons fame.

Was it the board or were they approving what Jackson recommended? BH, I prefer passionate ex-players who are heavily invlved in the media to not use thier current positions to make a point. I think most posters on here who have said Schwarz was out of line are coming from the same angle. We are not disagreeing with what he is saying, but there are enough jokers working in the media that are calling for the same thing.

Saty, you're not allowed to mention war and football in the same thread...

For the record, Northey is now coaching Learmonth in the Central Highlands Football League. Sign him up now!

Oh dear...

HTFU. Interesting you pull me up on my language and then turn around advocating Schwarz for presidency. Never heard Schwarz speak? Put's me to shame I give you the tip.
-
Was he telling the truth? Probably. Should he have opened his mouth? Absolutely not. Hey Ox, how about you STFU. You say you want to help the Club, well pal, this aint fcuking helping. Even if McLardy didn't ask for your assistance, there are more ways that you can help without needing to have your name on the MFC payroll. There's 30k+ members who are helping the club, perhaps you can learn something from them. You're as much of showbag as Lyon - both brightly coloured and full of sh!t. Lost respect for Ox after that Sheedy interview a couple of years ago, and this just confirms to me that he's in it for D Schwarz, not the MFC.

You mean you didn't get to wear it during the Juice era?

Changes v Pies *Pls spare comments about coach etc
The Chazz replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
How about you back it up with a list of their players who have been suspended this year, what their charge was, their sentence, and where they played their first week back. Carlton fined Waite for getting a 1 week suspension as they believed he was the difference between winning or losing against St Kilda, the difference being a potential spot in the 8. We are a long way from that. -
In a lot of ways, WYL, I'm gald the board changed at the last minute and flicked Bailey instead of Schwab. It showed the players that they don't run this football club, and what do you know, a few of them got offside and have since departed. However, the 3-yr extension of Schwab's contract showed that for every smart decision they made, they would follow it up with 100 fcuk ups. I always laugh at the posters that tell us to move on from 186, fact is, as you say, it's still hanging around our necks. Frawley, Watts and Sylvia learnt under those "leaders" at Geelong that day, and (again, if reports are correct) their attitude reeks of that behaviour that was deemed acceptable. I'm just glad they are now in the minority, but the very fact that it is still there is restricting this club.

Out: Frawley, Bail, Matt Jones In: Sellar, Blease, Taggert I am amazed that people are calling for Fitzy or Joel Mac to be dropped. Someone also mentioned Rodan getting dropped because "he won't be there when we are playing finals". FMD, half the team won't be there by the time we're ready to play finals. Sylvia's suspension came at a time when we needed him the most, and was due to a dog act. He does not deserve an instant recall, and should regain his spot through the reserves. -
This is the stupid part. A group of so-caled "senior" players went down to Geelong one afternoon with every intention of not trying. They suffered the 2nd worst defeat in history, with a true agenda of making a statement to the club by losing as hard as they could. All along, without them realising, that Schwab was going to get the ass at the end of that weekend, regardless of the result. If said senior players had've pulled their heads out of their ass, played their guts out and actually challenged Geelong that day, they would've got their wish with the CEO being moved on, Bailey would've stayed coach (for how long who knows), and they would've had a lot more respect from supporters like myself, WYL and Old Dee (not that we are in some special group). Neeld has done well to get rid of the cancer/s that played that day, but it appears the effects are still lingering (if reports are correct about Watts, Frawley and Sylvia). The sooner the playing group is free of such disease, and I can assure you, it's bloody close, then this club will move forward.

Nathan Ablett was not ranked in the top 50. No other club would've bid anything earlier than a 2nd round pick for NA. Gary Ablett wasn't ranked in the top 25, so they would've still ended up with Bartel, and MAYBE they would've had to choose between SJ and GA. The only thing you can honestly say is that if they had to take Hawkins with their first round pick, it meant they would've chosen between he and Selwood. My money would be on them picking Selwood and letting Hawkins go. Did Hawkins win the GF for them in 2011? It could be argued that he did, and I will say he played bloody well in a half. It's all good to look back in hindsight, but let's be realistic about things.
-
Would those players have gone earlier in the draft if they weren't F/S? Hawkins absolutely, was well regarded as a potential first round pick. Ablett and Scarlett far from it. The Geelong success came from more than just luck with a few F/S picks.

At the risk of opening a can of worms... What right do we have in bagging the blazer? Why do we as supporters think that we know best in regards to having or not having these things? Ask the players, if they all think it's a big [censored], then fine, get rid of them. Personally, I think you will find that a majority of the players enjoy receiving the blazer and are respectful of our history. As we all agree, a players career is quite short, some a lot shorter than others, so if they appreciate a small token (in the forms of a blazer) from their brief time at the MFC, then let's leave it. FWIW - did the players not train in their grass-roots club jumpers prior to the Freo game? You always keep (steal) a momento from any club you have played for, it's just part of keeping memories.
-
Which ones are they? (Nb not being a smart ass, just don't recall there being so many, and the ones they had, even Gaz Jr, weren't considered Top 10 picks anyway).
