  1. Resting ruck last year playing off in the GF I think.
  2. Griffen, Cooney and Minson were the ones that nearly won the game for them in that last quarter. All senior, experienced players, who led the way for Libba to play some of his best footy. The fighback was due to a number of factors in my view - we had forgotten how to protect a lead/win, we tired late, their leaders/senior players stood up, d!ck head umpires.
  3. Tell the whole truth TD. Yes, he coach Ballarat in the Ballarat Football League, but now he is coaching Learmonth in the Central Highlands Football League. Depending on which school you attended, the CHFL could be seen as a step up from the BFL, but reality is, it's a step or two backwards. Won't harm his impact on the board, but I still laugh/cry/cringe/shake my head/etc at your suggestion that he should be our senior coach.
  4. I'm with you there Soxy. The talk of betting agenices using it as a publicity stunt I refuse to believe.
  5. I think we're all aware of that B59, it just boils down to Roos being our number 1 target. His "demands" are probably no different to the likes of Eade or Williams, but until he sees proof that this has happened, I mean actually happened, not "happening", it's hard for him to commit 100%, and you can't blame him for that. In other terms, he wants to see that we are serious before he shows that he is. As I said, it depends on if Roos is our number 1 target. I think he would be, I think PJ & the new MFC are serious, and I think that will be enough to get Roos over the line. If CS was still at the helm there wouldn't be a hope in hell that we would get him.
  6. I'm with you there McQueen. Roos' "heart isn't in it" at the moment, and he has basically admitted that himself. But I would imagine that once PJ "buys" everything on Roos' wishlist, I'm sure his heart will take a sudden turn for the good!
  7. Did The Sloth actually say that his money wouldn't be on Roos? Having watched OTC last night, I'm even more convinced that we will get Roos. If he was playing poker, I'd be quietly confident that he had a couple of aces in his hand. Disclaimer: I thought Scully was going to stay and that, as much as I wasn't a fan, believed Neeld would see out 2013. In other words - put your money on Williams!
  8. Cool, let's compare 2 players that don't play in exactly the same spot. This will achieve a lot, especially given one is a Melbourne player and the other a Collingwood player. While we're at it, let's compare Jack Watts and Nik Nat...oh, hang on a minute...
  9. Did he say he won't? Didn't hear him say that.
  10. Source? Roos has said that things would want to change (within him) for him to want to coach again. Who knows what this means? Could Roos be saying that he doesn't want to coach the MFC in their current structure? That's not saying his heart isn't in it, that's just demanding a level of professionalism that he expects if he were to consider applying. I don't think that's a bad thing. An experienced, premiership coach wanting to see changes before he makes his mind up - would've thought that was perfectly fine for what we are wanting.
  11. A winning lead is not defined by "x" amount of points up at any stage while there is time remaining. It is up to the trailing team to decide when they believe they can't win. The problem with teams playing against us in recent times is that they never think they are out of the game when we are in front. It is something that the MFC has suffered from for decades - they either get in front and ease up, or get too far behind and give up. Once in a blue moon they go on with a slaughtering, or fight back from a deficit and get up, but these are the exceptions rather than the rules.
  12. Did your 1 bet of $20 @ $7 see him firm?
  13. I was taking to pizz with the $250k call Old Dee. Also, 1 x $50 bet wouldn't set off the alarm bells, but mulitple bets of $50 in a short period does. It will also depend on the account holder, and what their history is like. There are a number of factors that agencies take in to consideration before slashing odds. I know this as a number of my mates work in this industry, and I am invovled to some degree (I often pay their wages!!!).
  14. If they were looking at Saturday nights game, Neil Craig should've firmed. He would tick most of the boxes that we are looking for, and the fact that he got us playing reasonable footy for most of the game, and in turn we won the match, that's where "smart" money should've gone. The fact that is didn't, and that Roos has shortened significantly, that speaks a lot for me. From what I understand, the AFL have limits on how much a potential payout per bet can be on this type of betting (think it's a max of $500). Given that odds for the corporates are more based on % of payout and then their own studying of form, it would tell me that a number of bets (not one big one) have been taken for Roos. I strongly doubt they have shortened him to "drum up interest" RP. I for one won't be backing Roos at $2 or $1.80, he was of more interest to me at $5.
  15. Maxy will probably get more of a rest up the forward line this week rather than going to the interchange, if you know what I mean...?
  16. I don't htink I saw that Williams, Eade or Craig's odds were slashed. There is firming odds, and then there are plunges. Not often the latter isn't from "smart" money.
  17. I think the $250k bet @ $5 fixed odds from P Jackson's account has probably altered the market to some degree. Edit - spelling
  18. Given that only a week ago he said things needed to change, he either has very low pain tolerance (from PJ twisting his arm) or that what he hasn't been telling the media outlets the entire truth about not wanting to coach "at the moment".
  19. IAS Bet have Roos at $2. Wow. He's a certainty. I'm impressed MFC.
  20. You are omitting a line he said, Young Dee. He also said that Melbourne wouldn't want him. At the time, I found it a very unusual comment to make, thinking why wouldn't we want him. But, with the few posts on here indicating his out-of-the-coachs-box antics are questionable, it probably explains why he made that comment. It is a generaly consensus that the MFC don't like people on their payroll that aren't 100% straight, so perhaps this was the angle Thompson was taking when he said we wouldn't want him. It is so frustrating that the GFC have been so successful. If they weren't, I could write a novel, providing examples, on how toxic their culture is (and that wouldn't include the Thompson chapter/s!), but luckily for them, they have premierships to shut down any critic.
  21. He would have to be leading our "1-2" count at the club. Sure, he handballs to what appears to be a stationary target, but it is generally becasue he is running his guts out to get the handball back. DL4E - you reckon he has the worst disposal in our team? Bit over the top don't you think? How about starting with our co-captain (#31), if you think he is better than Terls, then look at Bail, Tom Mc, Nicholson. Once you've watched footage of those blokes, if you still believe Terlich is the worst, let me know and I will list others. Terlich actually reminds me somewhat of Nathan Jones in his first couple of seasons. Slightly different roles, but the foundations are very similar for mine.
  22. I'm presuming you don't call Matt Jones or Dean Terlich "young"? They are a considerable distance ahead of Kent in terms of what they have shown this year. Nothing against Kent, I like him.
  23. Apologies B59, in an article that was running alongside the one you linked, was this little piece; http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/dee-p-trouble-with-trouble-not-limited-to-just-on-field-in-recent-seasons/story-fndv8pdq-1226668144549 http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/dee-p-trouble-with-trouble-not-limited-to-just-on-field-in-recent-seasons/story-fni5f91a-1226668144549 The reason for my post was in regards to this; "Over the coming weeks Cheung was told the Demons were on track to become a powerhouse of the competition to rival the likes of Collingwood and Essendon - so the price for a space on the jumper had risen from $800,000 per season to as much as $1.5 million. Cheung was affronted and a year later, after months of wrangling, Kaspersky walked away. A crucial commercial partner was lost at sea."
  24. So, I need a little bit of assistance for when I watch Dean Terlich play. If he was a Top 5 draft pick, I'd sit back with great arrogance knowing that this kid will be a superstar for years to come. However...he was picked up at #68, and I just don't know what his ceiling is. Can someone who has connections somewhere, whether with the coach or the football department, anything, give me something on young Dean. Is he going to be a good average player? Will he win a Norm Smith? I think he is a bloody beauty, and whoever is responsible for picking him up has done a bloody great job. I just don't know what my expectations of him should be, so I need the help of my fellow Demonlanders to help form my opinion before I go out and get the number 46 put on my jumper! I hope i"m not the only one that is scratching my head wondering just how good he can be. (Nb. I don't mind a player making errors, especially when they go hard in to the next contest to try and fix it).
  25. Frustrating part is that he could've done it both times and not given away a free kick. Actually, the MOST frustrating part is that I don't know of anyone on our list that would see it as an opportunity to make a statement.
