POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
This season is really starting to develop a 2018 feel to it. Losing to top 8 teams but murdering the poor to middling ones. Building confidence to go on a real run. The team is playing well all over the ground, starting to score heavily and every game from here on in is winnable. The top 4 feels locked away but we’re a chance to finish as high as 5th if we play well. Then anything can happen.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
I doubt Preuss would hold too many fears for Grundy. He may be rested but that’s because there’s barely a soft week for any reason, not because of Preuss in particular. That said, I’m happy to see the big fella get another crack at it.

Or bring Preuss in, move Tomlinson back to the wing and omit one of Jones, Harmes or Vanders.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
I prefer option 2 or 3. I think we might need OMac back in to play on one of the 200+cm forwards anyway which would mean we move Tomlinson onto the wing or into the ruck. Preuss would usually be run ragged by Grundy but with the Pies backing up after successive 4, 5 and 4 day breaks, and all relatively close games, now may be the time to play him. Hopefully TMac’s effort last week gives him a bit more confidence going into this week. He’s still nowhere near his best but we will need him firing if we’re going to make a run.

NON MFC: Round 11
Who will the ins be for Collingwood on Saturday? They have been poor tonight, big chance for us to notch another confidence building win on Saturday.

TEAMS: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne
Even in 2018 Spargo only hit the scoreboard in 9 of his 18 games and averaged less than 1 goal assist per game. He has had a handful of good games in three years and has gone backwards. I hope he plays a ripper and proves me wrong, but is squarely in the delist category for me at this stage. I’m going to back Jackson I’m against Goldy though. IMO that’s the right call. He is improving and was recruited as a ruck and will offer more than Preuss other than in the taps. He should first ruck most of the game with TMac and Weid predominantly forward. No idea who should second ruck though. Probably TMac for team balance and he has the tank to do it around the ground.

TEAMS: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne
Pretty uninspiring changes. I consider 4 of the 5 a downgrade, a couple of huge ones as well. Oh selection last week has caused an issue this week. Presumably Jackson plays first ruck which might impact our forward line chemistry as well. the decision not to rest Max on Wednesday was a shocker.

Nibbler Suspended for 4 Weeks
On the plus side, ANB was putrid anyway so forces Goodwin's hand.

NON MFC: Round 10
Wines is exactly the type of player we don’t need. We have half a dozen of his type. And a month ago he was in a rut, just like Clarry is now. Clarry’s disposal has been terrible but it’s not a career problem, I suspect it’s mental. A bit of confidence and we’ll see him back to his best. And as a side note, what we recruited Toumpas to be is exactly the type of player we still need. Someone to play on the opposite wing to Langdon and perform consistently. We botched the pick on the wrong player but hindsight is 20:20.

The Need for Outside Midfielders
I reckon we could do worse than getting Witherden to slot in at half back and moving Salem to the wing.

The Rest of the Season
Our next 3 games are all against sides on a 4-day break (including the North game where we are the same but we don’t have to travel and they do). This is a huge chance for us to get back into a positive ledger including with a win against a battling Collingwood side that at the start of the year we would have pencilled in as a loss. One week at a time for sure, but the season is well and truly alive for now.
