Yep, you've convinced me 😂
-
It's clearly continuing because Oliver wants it too. If he wasn't set on leaving us/going to Geelong then it would be a non-story.
-
It's done through the AFL website which is run by AFL media. I think you'll find there's no issues (legally) with the way the AFL website opines on club matters.
-
Haha you have no idea 🤦 Anyone critical of the club must be part of some conspiracy to destabilise it hey? Couldn't be that the people running the club have done a poor job and the supporters are fed up with their mismanagement? We have two supposedly independent reviews going on because things are going just swimmingly at the Dees 🙄
-
Was that before or after Pert started ringing around other clubs to see what they might offer for him?
-
Pert's not going to sue the AFL website FFS. Ours supporters have all gone full nuffie. AFL Media is run independently of the AFL, Barrett would be no worse than any other favoured reporters like Wilson, Baum or Whately who get fed lines from the AFL. The AFL website also reports on issues to do with the AFL executive and commission, they've been writing opinion about clubs for years too. The victim mentality on here is nauseating.
-
Sorry, has the discussion moved on from whining about Barrett now? There's plenty of reasons that Pert needs to go, main one is the poor culture he has presided over that has seen two of our top stars want to leave the club and the utter mismanagement of those two situations by the club. That's just for starters, you can also add in the rampant leaking of info to the media to try and sway supporters to the clubs narrative which has caused further divisions within the club. He hasn't hit any home runs anywhere else either, not great with sponsors, membership and crowds significantly down, no movement on a home base. He's emblematic of the basketcase the club is perceived as at the moment.
-
"Whatever the outcome, this club cannot continue with Gary Pert as CEO." That's opinion.
-
We didn't even complain when one of our players was knocked into oblivion and forced to retire and you think we're gonna complain because a journo wrote something mean about us on the AFL website?
-
No one said it is. It's his opinion. And it happens to be correct.
-
He's right, Pert's position is becoming untenable
-
That was in season, this is trade period.
-
Yeah I secretly barrack for another club, I've taken out an MFC membership for 35 years since I was a little kid and waste time on here as the perfect cover. I'm playing the long game here 🤦 The club is dysfunctional and needs change in the senior leadership. A symptom of the dysfunction is the extremely poor mismanagement of both the Petracca and Oliver situations as well as the poor culture that has ket these issues fester. You can try and shut down discussion of that and be a mindless cheerleader happy to see the club slide back to irrelevance but that won't make the problems go away and won't stop people discussing it.
-
It would also be an easy out for Oliver to come out and refute the idea he wants to be traded to the Cats, either personally or via his management. Those who think there's nothing to see here have their heads firmly in the sand. The club has completely mismanaged two of its best players who both have become so disillusioned with the club that they would leave if a trade could be facilitated. Yet people want to whinge and moan about the media rather than hold those at the club accountable. It's pathetic.
-
It's clear that at least some of the leaks are coming from the club. Listen to Gawn's interview on MMM he mentions the need to stamp it out. It is simply unbelievable that NONE of the leaks over the last couple have months have come from the club. The club leaks what it thinks will buy it some support from the members but it's at the cost of creating further division within the club. If I were to guess I would say Pert is at the centre of this (he has form in his prior role at the Pies) but I could be wrong, it may be a disgruntled board member or member of the FD.
-
The media wouldn't report on it if the club were not dysfunctional. The problems lie with the club, not with the media reporting on the club.
-
Bill still has a point to prove as well. Wants that 7th ring to match Brady's Tampa ring.
-
"Don't believe anything unless it's on MFC Pravda" 😂

He spoke to Rodgers Monday but said they didn't specifically discuss Saleh 😂😂 Saleh was considering firing Hackett then was beaten to the lunch with the tap on the shoulder Saleh seems like a nice guy but was a terrible HC. How much will change considering the problems are mainly on offense? On the one hand I'm glad they pulled the trigger on this as the season is still salvageable, on the other they should have just done it in the offseason and things may fall apart quickly. Any chance Belichick comes in and rights the wrongs of 2000?

@Macca no favouritism? https://x.com/_MLFootball/status/1843736615992381903

Give me a spell, the club is a basketcase and is being run into the ground by a bunch of amateurs. They deserve everything they're copping, supporters should be demanding accountability not making excuses and blindly cheerleading the management of the club.
-
What they should do is allow clubs to trade players in contract without needing their approval. That means while a player is contracted the club has control, once the contract is up he is a free agent and the player has control.

I agree those cheap shots had to be ruled out, the ones that grate are when contact is made ever so slightly late, not to the helmet or below the knee, not much force and they throw the flag. It's so subjective which is a huge issue too so you'll see Mahomes (for example) get these flags while other lesser known QBs won't like a reverse superstar tax. The amount of flags thrown can be over the top sometimes and really detracts from the game, last week's Jets/Broncos game a prime example - felt like there were flags on every play, both sides. They have to call what they see but sometimes they also need to be a bit judicious with their decision making and ensure they are there to facilitate the game, not inhibit it.
