Glad we didn't go with Buckley in the end, I could see the appeal but had cooled on him the last week or so. Surprised with King, I had a feeling we would go Kelly but King has an impressive CV. Hopefully he can bring a forward thinking gameplan and is strong on culture (but not love in; accountability). There's plenty of work to do so he should be starting ASAP. He's the Melbourne coach now so he should be clearing his desk at Kardinia Park tonight.

We picked Goodwin because he interviewed well, turned out ok. If you're not basing it on interviews then what are you basing it on/why bother having them??

Why 8, it's just an arbitrary number. If it was a hard and fast cutoff then they wouldn't have wasted time interviewing him but I agree, it makes the call look silly.

This is my preference now, Kelly/Bartel. I think back to 2021 and Collingwood going Macrae while the Blues went Voss. Neither went Lyon which was the right call. I won't be upset if it's Buckley but will feel we missed a trick passing on Kelly.

Blockbuster MCG home games against Tigers and Pies help that. If Carlton and Essendon played more games at the G instead of Docklands their numbers would be far better. Measure crowd numbers against interstate clubs instead when opposition supporters don't beef up the numbers for a true reflection.

Cal Twomey and.... I used to enjoy Marc Mcgowan not sure if he's still doing footy stuff. Nick McKenzie one of the few journalists I respect, unfortunately has little to do with footy.

I was listening to Jordan Lewis on the Junktime podcast and while it is essentially a comedy pod two comments he made made me take notice He said that when playing with the Hawks they never really had much time to sit back and think "how good is this" because they never had the mindset that they were better than their opponents. Even in a prematch meeting before playing the Suns in early 2013 Clarkson drummed into them "if you're not on your game they'll take it up to you". Made me wonder about the mindset of our players. Another comment about choosing to come to Melbourne was about us playing them in 2016 and really beating them up, playing an extremely tough contested brand of footy - "which was unusual for a Melbourne side". I've heard Roughead in the past (2015ish) make similar derogatory comments about us. We all know the "bruise free" comments as well etc Just reiterates the perception of us in the wider footy community as a soft club. This goes to the point of your post, whoever is appointed coach needs to address the teams mental issues.

Hopefully Buckley has learnt from past mistakes when people advised him to move to Collingwood instead of staying at Brisbane or going to North. He probably would've won 3 or 4 flags with either of the other options.

Pretty sure all clubs share the rooms but Collingwood have the same rooms regardless of whether they are playing home or away. Part of the MCG deal which also sees them have the ponsford stand as reserved seats whether home or away.
