WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
People are acting like it's a foregone conclusion we'll nab May once Hogan walks but it seems the general consensus is Collingwood is still in the box seat. Not sure what currency they've got to deal though.

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
Obst was a far better player than VDB. I don't see any similarity. Completely different players and body types too.

If he's in our best squad of 30 then whether he is best 22 or not is irrelevant. I'd be offering him 2 years, assuming the club actually want to keep him. Draftees get 2 years, an extra year on top of the 1 weve supposedly offered isn't going to break our list management strategies.

NFL
Haha sorry mate just saw this now! Is it 3 road teams every week? If so this week I'll take Saints, Chiefs, Ravens

Especially considering the marking power displayed by the Eagles yesterday. We have been beat up by big key forwards for years, it's one of our major Achilles heels.

And how did we go in our last losing game?

It won't be enough from gold coasts end. He is their captain, full back, one of a few senior big bodies they have.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Agreed ET I'd want something coming back our way if we sent pick 10 for May even if we got KK thrown in- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Must push for 5/6 & 10 not 9 & 10.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
He's the captain you think he doesn't know what's going on? Hogan is gona 100%- Farewell Jesse Hogan
I would've thought its pretty obvious that this is legit- Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
Is the family business in Ainslie or Sydney? If it's in Canberra I can't imagine how moving to Sydney would make it any easier to manage compared to Melbourne.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
I think I'd rather have 13 & 18 than just 8.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
I don't disagree with you mate but it seems clubs have got a bit more serious in recent times. When Wallace was coach at the Tigers they didn't even have a full time recruiting manager. There's been more investment and with that a greater strike rate in recent years. Not a guarantee but it seems a greater probability of hitting on a best 22 player. Not everyone is gonna land a Judd or Dangerfield but there are plenty of good players taken too 10/15 in the last few years. I remember your thread and appreciate the time taken to go through that. Might be time to update it and see where things sit 4-5 years on.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
This picks "value" stuff is rubbish. It only counts for clubs bidding on academy or Father/Son picks. It's the equivalent of saying "Bugg + JKH + Kent = 1st rounder"- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Then we'd at least have early draft picks- Farewell Jesse Hogan
It's not in the AFL's rules per se, it's part of the CBA so really any changes should only occur every 5 years or so.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
I just want a flag- Farewell Jesse Hogan
No. Players become FA after 8 years service. If they are in the top 25% of paid players at their club they are RFA's. If not they are UFA's. After 10 years service everyone is an UFA's.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Come on, Hogan's not gonna walk out on us to the draft and leave us empty handed. People bring this up every year and it never happens.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
No not next year. It is either 2020 or 2021 depending on whether my memory is correct or not. He was drafted in 2012 and was first on our senior list in 2014.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Freo will likely have a top 5 pick next year. Take that and their future 1st rounder would be much the same as what we will get this year.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
That would be a great outcome if true. Freo are likely to still have a top 5 pick next year and Hogan would still have to be traded there (as you say he is not a FA although will be out of contract). Are you sure he isn't a RFA until 2021? My understanding for the last few years has been the year he spent with us but ineligible for the senior list counts as tenure towards his FA status. I remember the issue coming up a few years ago for one of the Suns/Giants pre-selections who were taken underage and spent a year with them before going on the senior list (Shiel, Cameron etc). Would be great if someone could clear this up, I don't want to spread false info but I am certain that was the AFL's position.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
I'm not doubting them but I'd love to know how they are sure of his intentions before he's even met his manager? Maybe the club has spoken to him already and given him permission to tell Freo it's a goer? How do journos know what gets discussed in exit interviews? If there was nothing to this the club and/or Hogan would've come out to say something already. The fact there has been nada for 3 days says there's something cooking and he's gone it just needs to be worked out between the clubs. - Farewell Jesse Hogan
