  1. Because a member of one of the factions is feeding her information to try and destabilise the club? These "factions" are part of the problem and they can get stuffed as far as I'm concerned. I've never voted in MFC board elections because whats the point, I wouldn't know one group from another or what they stand for or what their platform is. Most people would be voting against an incumbent rather than for anyone in particular and as far as I can see the board/Bartlett etc have managed the off field incredibly well. If there are issues with the MCC that is a problem because we need them in our corner but overall the only hiccup has been the 3 year extension for Goodwin but realistically he would have got 2 anyway. They've given the club an environment of stability and resources to be successful, the failure is on the footy department, not the President or board.
  2. One thing that struck me about the interview (ok 2 things that are related) was Perts understanding of our history. He said 1) we were the original powerhouse club and 2) we had a history of 100 years of success before the spiralling after 1964 (my words) In regards to 1) that would be heavily disputed as Fitzroy and Collingwood were really the powerhouses of the VFL for the first few decades of the competition. 2) we most certainly did not have 100 years of success. In fact the predominant era of success occurred in a 25 year window when we won 10 flags between 1939-1964. Our VFA record prior to the VFL commencing in 1897 was nothing to write home about either (I think we were recognised as champion 3 times between 1870-1897). If you don't understand the history I'm not sure how successful you will be in righting the ship. Perts ambition seems to be to turn us into a powerhouse which is a fine ambition. But I think we need to aim to be a sustainable boutique team first before building off that into a powerhouse. Consistent years of memberships over 50-55k should be the aim initially, aiming to go straight to 75k is wildly optimistic in my view. As long as we can be financially sustainable free of AFL support that is the main goal initially. We can pull big crowds to marquee games but I don't think we'll ever get 60k vs GWS not in the near future anyway. Getting 35-40k consistently to those types of games should be the aim.
  3. He also had the two key forwards Hogan and TMac running up and down the ground, starting on the wing on occasions. Plus the diamond defence. He's definitely tried to be innovative, some of these things worked for a while before being worked our
  4. Agree if assistants go Mahoney has to go too. His review last year pretty much maintained the status quo which has been a failure.
  5. Sucks for them but great news for us
  6. Minus Kennedy and Darling
  7. How many players have ever developed beyond what they bring to the club when first recruited? I'm not holding out hope on that one. I thought Kozzie had great goal sense before we drafted him based on his highlights package but sadly that seems to not be the case.
  8. The converse to this is that those players who don't have the skills need to play to their strengths. Not everyone can drop it on a dime from 50m away but everyone can run hard, pressure and defend. We are simply not a well drilled team and that is on the coaches. All of them.
  9. Richo has a 5 year deal? This club is stuffed beyond repair
  10. So what? Since then we've recruited May Lever Langdon Tomlinson. I think it's rubbish and letting them all off the hook, players and coaches.
  11. And by the way the only players who played against the Hawks and Eagles in 2018 finals no longer on the list are Jordan Lewis, Sam Frost and Dom Tyson. You're telling me they're the difference between prelim finalists and 10th-12th? Absolute rubbish.
  12. We've been turning the list over for 7 years now. If it's an ordinary list whose fault is that? Yeah we have a bunch of ordinary players on the list between the 30th-40th player, a lot of clubs do. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't expect to be in the top half of the competition 7 years into a rebuild and 4 years into Goodwin's coaching career. I don't care about skill I care about structure, gameplan and effort and the last 2 games there has been little of any of that. That is purely on the coaches. Ffs Goodwin was outcoached tonight by a rookie. Freo played to a plan and held their structure. We just kept going down the line to packs, playing the boundary line etc, it was Neeld footy
  13. I just sent them an email telling them to take me off auto-renew and explaining why. Hopefully the message gets through, I've never been compelled to do that before but the last 2 games is the last straw. I want them to know what the financial risk is of keeping Goodwin, Mahoney et al if they are worried about the financial risk of sacking them.
  14. Yeah Petracca never stopped trying either and May when he could impact the contest.
  15. I laughed at it in the GameDay thread but that is a diabolical stat. Truly diabolical. They showed the pressure ratings across the comp on On The Couch and we are 3rd last for the year. So we're not winning uncontested footy and we're not bringing the pressure what are we doing? Win the scrum hack it forward rinse repeat.
  16. Josh Mahoney pack your [censored] bags as well. How he has lasted more than a decade here is astounding.
  17. How many times can that happen before he looks in the mirror? Twice in 5 days !!
  18. Forecast is tropical downpour. Bring in the big ungainly fella to run around the 50.
  19. Why the [censored] risk Jackson?? Put him in cotton wool for [censored] sake Goodwin coaching to save himself it's the reason he swung the axe and brought in guys like Baker and Bedford. His press conference was all about deflection talking about the broader club. He must know he's on his last legs.
  20. We have enough quality on the list to be pushing top 6 at least. This constant underselling if the players is ridiculous, a better coach with a better plan and having the players play a better disciplined more structured game would see us play finals easily. If you don't remember we actually won a couple of finals not that long ago. Making finals in a 8/18 comp isn't that great a hurdle. Except for us it seems.
  21. You're being extremely kind to Fritsch and VDB
  22. Oliver was ****house
  23. They already lost 13k this year, to not crack 40k next season will be an utter embarassment. You can't keep chasing your losses and have to look at the opportunity cost in keeping him. I've been a supporter but no more, he has lost me. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for 2019 but to miss finals this year with one of the healthiest lists in the comp is unacceptable. Comparing him to Hardwick, Thompson etc misses the point. Those guys had 1 poor season after getting the team to a finals standard. You get a pass for 1 poor season and that was 2019 for Goodwin. 2020 big fail, see you later Simon.
  24. At least we won't embarass ourselves against Essendon
