Good news for our home ANZAC Eve game - hopefully back up to 100% by then.
-
I don't think we're deliberately conceding clearances but we are setup very well behind the ball which means if we do lose them we can intercept and counter attack.

Not sure he was better than Stynes but agreed he was underrated. Was one of our best in our 1988 run.

Get Strawbs O'Dwyer in to have a chat to him you reckon?

I don't hold a grudge against anyone with a reason not to attend (work, family, covid concerns etc). That is a shocking figure for North. Their and the AFL's higher ups would be extremely concerned about that. There is a view amongst several clubs (notably the interstate clubs like Sydney, WCE as well as Kennett at Hawthorn) that there are still too many Vic clubs. Combine that with Tassies push for a team and having 13k or 21k turn up puts those clubs in extremely perilous situations.
-
I'm not saying everyone has to attend every game. People have reasons why they can't attend. It's the ones who won't go because they're trying to "send the club a message" that [censored] me off.

Lol The team you support had a win on the weekend. Those who could be bothered turning up were able to enjoy it instead of sooking at home in silent protest.
-
Yes and North are in the conversation for relocation. That's my point exactly, is that where we want to be?
-
How could they afford it?
-
Now you've mozzed it!

It's all related. Supporters turn up, dollars in the bank, greater investment in footy department, also creates better atmosphere at games so players don't feel like they're playing park footy.
-
And Jones? Agree on Jetta but I'd be dropping Jones for Viney. Harmes lucky.
-
Yeah but not haha funny

Bums on seats. That's the only metric that counts.

Whether we deserve games at the G. Whether we deserve prime time games. Whether we even deserve a spot in the national competition.

R23 2018 vs GWS 37k R1 2019 vs Port 38k If this was a random game in a normal season I could understand though still be disappointed. This was round 1 and the first game we had the chance to go to the footy in 18 months that is what makes it incredibly disappointing. 35k should have been the minimum and as I've said anyone who couldve gone but didn't should question their loyalty to the club. I'm not talking about people worried about covid, or travelling from regional areas, or have young kids etc. I'm talking about those who otherwise would've gone but didn't because of "disenchantment" with the club.

Walters, Lobb and Darcy vs Viney, Brown and Weid. Who else did they have missing from their best 22?
-
I'd like to see him break into space without jumping into the tackler, did it heaps yesterday and once he's off his feet it reduces the effectiveness of his disposals.

Watching the replay this morning the performance was nowhere near as bad as many here are making out. Our touch was off which made things look worse than they actually were and the clearances were poor. Other than that we controlled the game, May, Lever, Jetta and Tomlinson controlled the backline and were a brick wall stopping the exits from our forward 50. They can keep winning clearances but if we're intercepting and rebounding it doesn't really matter. Plenty to like in the games of Pickett, Jackson, Jordon, Rivers etc We really missed plenty of easy shots at goal, convert even half of those and the scoreboard and I assume the perception of the performance changes dramatically. Yeah Freo missed a few easy shots too but really that should've been a 50-60 point win. Still got Viney, Weid and Brown to come back not to mention Hibberd and Melksham if they can regain some of their previous form - some better touch from our mids (particularly Trac, Oliver and Brayshaw) and we have plenty of scope for improvement. I loved Kozzie starting the square, gives us some real pace and skill which we sorely lack. His kicking is really good which helps cut the angles through the middle of the ground. Special mention to Spargo as well, directly created 3 goals (Kozzie in the 1st, Jordon in the 2nd and Fritsch in the 3rd) as well as getting on the end of one himself. Our best user with ball going inside 50 yesterday.

If we want to keep it that way we need to show we deserve it or the MCG and the MCC along with the AFL will move right past is while we're stuck valuing our decades old traditions of lunch in the dining room, beers at the bullring and maybe catching some footy along the way.

Cry me a river. First game of the year. First chance to support the team live in 18 months. Chance to make a statement with a decent crowd at OUR home. Chance to support the CLUB with a decent turnout. 21k is laughable, the other clubs will rightly be looking at that and asking questions.
-
1st game at the G in 18 months. Anyone who didn't go in some kind of protest against the club, pull your head out of your [censored]. You are the reason this club struggles to realise it's potential.

That is ****house and I agree the social distancing was laughable. They basically had people sitting on the aisles and left the middle sections of the bays empty. What's the point?
