Kayo is 4K in 2024
Their subscriptions will plummet once HBO goes standalone next year, surely.

That can't be correct for West Coast

The AFL 2025 Fixture
Ah yeah Ian Collins, former Carlton player, CEO and President at the time. Hardly think it's being "railroaded" when your President was the one pushing for it.

Gold Coast Suns Rebrand
I thought it was due to Southport being the Sharks and it alienating the other non-Southport supporters up there? Or was that just about them being Southport and not Gold Coast? I may be getting my wires crossed. Sharks is a great name for a footy team, if they knocked it back due to being too aggressive then that tells you all you need to know about the spivs running the league.

The AFL 2025 Fixture
We are scheduled to play a home game there next year but it is not our home ground. The MCG is our home ground, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Richmond are also tenants there. Docklands tenants are North, Bulldogs, Saints, Carlton and Essendon. The AFL schedules some of their home games at the MCG but their home ground is Docklands. Melbourne should not be scheduled to play home games at Docklands at all and certainly not at the expense of Docklands tenants who want to play home games at the G.

The AFL 2025 Fixture
I agree but it's been happening for over 30 years now. That's why the AFL brought in the equalisation fund (or competitive balance fund or whatever it's called) to compensate teams who regularly get screwed with the fixture and stadium arrangements. It's why I firmly believe it should be a 17 game season, play everyone once alternating home and away each year. AFL would laugh at that though as although its much fairer they're more worried about the broadcast rights. You think they would realise scarcity is good economically.

Move it to Alice Springs and play Saints at the G.

Marvel is not our home ground. Carlton and Essendon should be playing their home games there, it is their home ground.

The AFL 2025 Fixture
Yes but we do also host Anzac Eve and Kings Bday so swings and roundabouts.

The AFL 2025 Fixture
Home vs Saints in Alice and WC at Docklands..... Probably as good as we could have hoped for considering, we have a lot of home games vs interstate it feels like and THREE interstate trips in a row after Kings Bday (with a bye thrown in) means more than a month between games in Melbourne. Starting the season with 3 games in Melbourne and finishing with 7 games in Melbourne is a plus, Collingwood again in fi al round, can we just beat these [censored] please?? Sick of losing to them 🤮

The AFL 2025 Fixture
We play a boring style that neutrals don't like watching. Our games are often low atmosphere and look poor on TV because our supporters all sit on the broadcast side. If we start playing an exciting brand of footy and are pushing for top 4 we will get more interest, bigger crowds and more primetime games. To be honest I'm not fussed about the off Broadway games, it's been a pain having so many night games in recent years, tough with younger kids and my parents struggle with the late finishes these days.

I love watching Essendon, nothing funnier than seeing them stink it up.

The AFL 2025 Fixture
Thursday night games are good if your team isn't playing. If your team is playing then it's ok if it's interstate. Thursday night at the G when it's not school hols (and especially if it's bucketing down like the Blues game this year) is horrific.

Surely that's a Ticketmaster/AFL issue not a club issue.

Bucs put up a good fight but probably lost the division today. Should've gone for 2 when they had the chance, much better to go for broke than think they could win in OT.

The Drums are starting to beat for North
Not only that but out of pure self interest, if North folds/relocates we are one step closer to the executioner ourselves. It is in our interest to have teams like North as it keeps the frothing masses at bay for us, it gives us an ally when dealing with the AFL (competitive balance fund or whatever it's called now as well as addressing other inequities like the salary cap, FA, draft/academies, fixture etc) and it gives us another Vic ally (once the interstate clubs hold a majority they will be pushing for any number of things to weaken the Vic clubs). Careful what you wish for.

It's easier when there are 16/17 games a season vs 82 (NBA/NHL) or however many in baseball (160+?) - NFL
