Not sure about the suggestion the game is becoming a non contact sport because the AFL investigated an incident that could have lead to a serious injury. The Game is played at such intensity and pace these days it is harder and tougher than ever before. Just look at the Jordan Lewis incident on the weekend. The AFL did and should have looked at the Dangerfield tackle, it would have been irresponsible not to. The right decision was made but it is a fine line between what is deemed a legal or illegal tackle.

Using your thought process Bennell can feel very lucky to be in the team considering he panicked far more than Strauss did. Would have liked to see Strauss get another chance and Melbourne make a point by dropping Bennell.

The pies were well on top at that stage and for the first time in 3years we absorbed the pressure and turned the tide to fight back by half time. Thought that was one of the highlights of the game. The pressure from collingwood forced us to over handball, it would not have been a directive from the coach and we had numbers back because we were under the pump. But like I said we turned the tables.

Not sure I support your moral view. I will stay till the final siren and applaud the players for there efforts during the game. Once the final siren sounds in a game like last week, that its for me. Thats not to say I would ever boo them but hell if im clapping them off for that kind of insipid crap. My support during the game is enough.

Im keen on the idea of Jamar going forward but Rivers!!! To say he has good hands after last weekends effort is crazy? Who would replace rivers down back? Our Backline was terrible last weekend and Rivers was one of the better players. Miller could go back, but I would rather see him go into the ruck and Jamar play as a permanent forward?

So potentially the tanking debate may rear its ugly head once more.

Its totally in there heads, it comes down to confidence and lack of leadership from our senior players. People might bemoan Strauss for his mistakes but how can you expect him to perform in his first game when senior players are setting such poor standards around him. At least strauss ran forward in the second half and found the ball at times. We were overwelmed by the hawks pressure, our confidence went out the door and our players didn't know what to do next. Maybe its scarring from past years but we were passengers along for the ride with only a handful of kids that were prepared to run hard against the tide.

I am beginning to agree. Dropped two or three marks yesterday that cost us goals. Inexcusable for someone of his experience.
