  1. Each to their own, Ernest. Just my opinion, but the way I see the game going will be more about structures, zones and role playing in the back half. This is already where the game is at, but it'll only increase with time.
  2. Are you serious? We have the best young CHF in the game. Hulett or more likely Weideman will play FF. I reckon we could do with someone like Hurley, but we could do without him if our midfield and half forward line improves.
  3. Brayshaw doesn't scream midfielder to me. I love him, but he's more of a half back that can pinch hit in the midfield or a winger.
  4. Yeah, I'm not sure if ANB will make it, but he's certainly got time on his side, unlike Newton and Michie who are done now.
  5. His left peg would be handy off half back.
  6. Come on, mate. You know better than that. You think that means we haven't made contact? Where's this fallacy come from? Frost played forward last year.
  7. That may be true, but if our midfield is so strong that good players aren't getting a game, then we'll be in a very good position. Not only that, but our strong midfield will help entice opposition players to the club that are better than the mids we've got or players that will help fill voids in other areas of the ground.
  8. I'm not disagreeing with rjay, I'm just saying simply, we don't have enough quality mids.
  9. This is more like it. Midfields win premierships. It's a cliche for a reason. We need to continue strengthening our midfield with A graders. That's not to say we neglect other areas though.
  10. That's the forward press! And the Diamond Defence is employed occasionally at centre bounces only...
  11. I agree, but others don't have the pace to play that role. For example, ANB can't play it because he's too slow. Neither could Trenners or even Brayshaw. I agree with this too. Most people have probably read my thoughts on him.
  12. BBO going to new lows of inappropriateness. I'll pass it on.
  13. I don't think we can actually afford to cut more than one of Kent, Harmes and Kennedy. Their pressure roles are vital to our forward press.
  14. We started dating in early 2007. The last time we won was 2006. Urgh. That might be a funny idea. She doesn't even want to come along with me this week. She's a bit scared of me I think.
  15. Great changes. Agree with all of them. Frost to play back too. Be very interesting to see how he goes. A big weekend for me. If we can somehow beat Hawthorn it'll be the first step in converting my fiancée (of nine years) to the mighty red and blue.
  16. Completely agree. Looked completely up against the pace, just as he did the previous week. I don't see what others see in him in the clutches. He shows no elite traits to me. He might in time be a solid contributor in the midfield, but I don't see it at the moment. It's a pity because I don't think his lack of leg speed suits our team anywhere except the midfield. I don't see a spot for him in the forward line this year. That's why the FD are trying to fast track his midfield work. He either makes it as a midfielder or he doesn't make the team.
  17. It's sentimentality that gets people considering Grimes right? He's a trier, but a flawed player. We've moved past needing him and I'd prefer us developing players with less overt flaws.
  18. We used the first two years to stockpile draft picks, assess the remaining players on the list and introduce a disciplined culture and game style at the club.
  19. It's not the Diamond Defence that's leaking goals, it's often the aggressive forward press. Yes, we play a defensive zone, but when we a side slices us up off their half back it's down to getting through the forward press.
  20. Agreed, mate. This year has been a bit funny for me. I go into the game thinking we'll lose or we should win and then no matter what, I usually end up completely frustrated (white-line-fever-Adam). However, the major difference between other seasons is that within an hour or two of the disappointment, I am quickly reminded of my own expectations for this season of 10-12 wins. I always thought we'd he up and down and even more so when you consider how young the team's we've put out have been. We're going to crack 10 and we may go past that, but I'm convinced we'll get to a minimum of ten wins. I expect finals next year, not this year and I think these are perfectly reasonable expectations.
  21. You think by setting up your 'argument' around the 'PC brigade' will allow you to get away with sexist comments? What are you actually trying to achieve with that post?
  22. We have enough older heads out there. Lumumba is about the only experienced player I'd have coming in regularly. I'd consider Dunn and I don't include Trengove as an 'experienced' player. But the thing that screwed us up during 2008-2013 was poor drafting and development. I trust this FD to make the right development decisions. I looked through all the major stats for the game trying to define it. I didn't catch this game, so I'm not going to be able to make a call on it. Perhaps someone else can?
  23. I reckon we'll win 1 maybe 2 of the next 4 games. If we win 2, I reckon we'll get to 12 wins for the season. Win 1 from 4 and we're looking at a 10 win season. An important month ahead.
  24. I'm going to that Sydney game too. Urgh.
  25. I disagree. He's showed far more often than not that he's a liability with ball in hand. We already Tom McDonald running around back there. We don't need Grimes doing the same. But each to their own.
