  1. I'm not sure he does a perfectly fine job, otherwise we wouldn't be after players of Lewis' age (necessarily). I think there's a strong case to be made for co-captaincy. If not 2017, then 2018 if Lewis is slowing up too much.
  2. Nah, I agree with you, mate. I said it in another thread. I reckon co-captaincy with Jones is a strong chance. Also, love the DP.
  3. Agreed, Todd has clearly been fantastic. But the one thing I've always wondered is who overruled who in the Toumpas v Wines debate all those years ago. :D Was it Neeld or Todd? Sorry @Demonland, I've opened a bit of a can of worms here. Haha, the old Goody doesn't take the best picture, does he? As long as he's a gun coach. :D
  4. Can we get a Josh Mahoney one soon too? Awesome news. The article on the MFC site is a liitle spine-tingling.
  5. I believe we do need another small zippy forward. He's the right age, can kick a goal and provide some pressure, but I'm not convinced we should look at him all the same. I'd rather hold off until a slightly better option is available.
  6. Hibberd, Melksham and Lewis will definitely change things, but IMO probably not enough.
  7. Or Noble actually did say this, Vogon, but the trade discussion never went any further. There are shades.
  8. I'm not sure the Blues 'faithful' can wait that long. I'm betting they assemble an average to middle of the road list and then panic and bow to supporter pressure, which will sink them even further.
  9. Not last night, mate. Wanted to get up for the 6am Liverpool kick off. I reckon there's probably a lot of truth to your theory, although I think the club is backing itself to be in the top 4 and challenging by the time those contracts are up. Obviously it'd be great to win it, but it'll also be easier to retain players when we're up there.
  10. Nah, we'll get them. Stop Cripps, stop Carlton. Particularly now that Gibbs is leaving. They've already got a laughable midfield that will become even weaker. Cripps is a gun, Murphy is a B grader and then...
  11. Yep, completely agree, mate. Ego written all over this.
  12. That is outrageous. They're stockpiling some bloody average players. SOS was very hit and miss at GWS and now his ego is getting the better of him, sweeping up all the scraps that he originally picked, determined to make them work at Carlton. They really are poorly run. They wreak of 'Old Boys Club' down there.
  13. Hadn't noticed at all. Keep posting, mate.
  14. Yep. And I'd be worried if I was Bernie to be honest. And even though he's my favourite player, Jets may be in trouble too unless he keeps attacking off half back. He doesn't have the same flexibility that our other backmen give, nor an elite trait like Hibberd's kicking. I want a lot more from Kent and Garlett too. If they can't both hit 40 goals I reckon we'll be a chance at really pushing up in the higher echelons of the top 8. They're both too inconsistent for my liking. Anyway, they're all good players, so I like that it's come to this.
  15. It's funny. After this trade period I feel a little bit like Henry Winkler in The Waterboy in regards to Hawthorn.
  16. That's not actually what Chook said. And he's since corrected another poster for misquoting him. Chook just said that Brisbane hadn't heard about the complex deal originally proposed by GD. Anyway, not really your point.
  17. I'm not saying it's going to happen a lot, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie is dropped for a game or two next year if our squad is fit and he doesn't reach a higher level than he did this year. He may have racked it up in 2016, but he makes too many hideous clangers for a player with his experience. They won't all be consistent, but I'd have Gus, Oliver, Tyson, Salem and Stretch in my team every week (injury-permitting). Melksham is perhaps the other not so definite starter for mine. He and Vince may well be competing for the same spot, unless they see time for Bernie on a wing. It'll be interesting to see who Goodie favours. All coaches do. It's great seeing that team though. It's really starting to come together. I reckon we still need one more elite mid in that mix that can play forward or distribute off half back, but we can go after them at the end of 2017 if no further deals are made this trade period.
  18. Indeed. SEN is the BF of radio stations. You only have to listen to their talk back stuff.
  19. All I'm saying is something is in the works. Otherwise, the Hibberd and Lewis trades would have probably been done by now. I've learnt not to trust a word Mahoney says. Much like Roos, he's a politician. Why reveal your hand at all? Keep the opposition guessing.
  20. I wasn't actually. That's because both of those deals are effectively done and both players have nominated Melbourne. What would be the point of denying it at this point? Whereas with Rockliff, we've heard nothing from player, manager or Brisbane.
