  1. Nah. Bugg and Kennedy work hard both ways. They're not as silky as Newton, but he doesn't get enough of it or work hard enough both ways.
  2. I think so too. Even irrespective of Smith. If we want another speedster or kicker, Jetta may have to make way.
  3. To be fair to SOS, Carlton's recruiting was horrible before he arrived as well. Cripps is the only diamond in the rough and he was still a late first rounder.
  4. Just finished watching the genius that is Adam Curtis with his new film HyperNormalisation, which came out a couple of days ago in the UK. This film is incredible. If you haven't heard of Curtis, he makes documentary films for the BBC with their archive and often deals with international politics and masterfully weaves between political events in the West and the Middle East. Although terrifying, I'd have to say this film is the best film I've seen in 2016. It is incredible. The ideas blow my mind and the way he sums up complex ideas about society, the ways it functions and its problems is something I haven't seen from a filmmaker before. He's Michael Moore without humour and more intellectual. Has anyone seen it yet?
  5. Except they got an ordinary GWS player in Steele and a slow aging C grader in Brown. I just don't get the hype around St Kilda.
  6. I'd be keeping Michie before Newton, but neither player offers us something that we really need.
  7. Agreed, although I think our build is slightly different from their's just out of necessity. We've needed to target a bit more experience and we've also had greater access to top end talent, which IMO will eventually see us surpass the Bulldogs. We just need to get our game style going.
  8. I guess that was my point. The journey was ordinary. Not enough clues. Not enough mystery. Not enough curve balls thrown in. I'd give it about a C-.
  9. No two ways about it. He's been a disastrous recruiter. Hilarious that he's now ruining Carlton, who don't have anything like the same access to elite talent that GWS did. They can't afford to muck up most picks. That's why Jason Taylor is such an important figure at a club like ours. We have to nail most, if not all, of our picks. GWS can blow a couple and have.
  10. Could it have been to package with Gibbs for an Adelaide player?
  11. I like sticking the boot into Hawthorn as much as the next person, but Smith was arrogant and smug for lining up to kick a goal on the siren?
  12. Let's wait and see on this one, mate. Taylor may still get to show his worth in the fourth round.
  13. Might be worth shutting this down earlier next time if old mate Riddler has no intention of at least eventually revealing who he/she was talking about. Has a touch of the flogs about it. I certainly got very little from the thread...
  14. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders whether the AFL have now realised GWS' dominance over a long period of time may well impact negatively on the traditional footballing states. With this in mind, they'd be happy to bow to some sort of pressure from the southern state clubs (mainly the Collingwood's etc who I'm sure are whinging) to strip GWS of some future draft picks. GWS already have the nucleus of a premiership side. They just need a season or two and they'll be constantly winning them IMO. The loss of draft picks shouldn't hinder them too much, given the outrageous access they've had to the draft since their inception.
  15. No, I know, but he's another that'll probably go, meaning we'll free up a rookie spot.
  16. Look, there's a lot of C grade/cusp B graders in that best 22, many I can't see improving, but they actually have a half reasonable starting midfield. Cotchin, Martin and Prestia is not horrible. There's just no depth to the midfield. When Riewoldt and Rance go though, they'll be in a world of pain. Their decent players under 23 you could count on one or two fingers. Certainly no elite talent in that age bracket either.
  17. He seems to be more competition for our back 6, rather than our midfield, but I could be wrong. Certainly looks like we're targeting the good ball users now. He looks very neat.
  18. Dunn, Newton and Dawes. Michie may well go too.
  19. I actually rate Watts in the ruck. I know the club have said it's not ideal playing him there, but there were times in 2016 where I thought he rucked better than the bigger fella. And most of the year he was able to at least halve the contest.
  20. Yep, struggle town. Am feeling pretty dirty for my Prestia love.
  21. Minson has been delisted by the premiers. So probably as DFA or PSD pick.
