  1. Lol, I don't mind not being linked to Steele. He's no better than Bugg, who IMO is a fringer.
  2. Maybe I've had too many reds tonight, but what's the implication here?
  3. The 3AW rumour file claimed the other day that there was infighting in the Sydney rooms after the Grand Final. Apparently Hannebery clocked Tippett. Also heard this from another source. If the Swans can manage it, they'll try and offload Tippett. Purely speculating here, but if I were them and I was looking to get rid of him, I'd agree to pay say $200k-$300k of his remaining salary and add the money saved onto Mitchell's contract. Whether anyone wants to take Tippett off their hands is another thing... Meh. Whether you believe it or not, I've got a pretty good source who said it did happen.
  4. Agreed, back atcha, mate. Weid just needs to put on some bulk and then he can play deeper.
  5. It might sound like it, but I reckon we'll do a deal or two. Mahoney always plays his cards close to his chest. He's a good operator.
  6. Buckenara is usually pretty spot on, but he's got the following bit horribly wrong: "The other consideration with Dawes is does he affect how Hogan plays? Hogan plays his best footy deep and Dawes isn’t really the Nick Riewoldt type who can run up the ground and be that lead-up centre half forward. Does Melbourne need to get someone in who can play that role instead?" Hogan is a CHF, you fool. Weideman is the FF, but eventually he'll lead up to CHF as well. And then they can both rotate.
  7. I wouldn't be against this although his biggest problem is a lack of work rate and impact around the ground. Outside of that, I'd say he'd be good insurance. Seems I'm alone on that one though.
  8. Ralph really is a [censored]. It's 52 years, not 62 years you idiot.
  9. Mahoney is as much a politician nowadays as Roos was. I don't really believe a lot that comes out of his mouth. Which is fine. And I'm a little surprised that our defence is still the focus. Yeah, sure, half back is a major part of the modern game, but surely so are the half forwards. Our list looks pretty ordinary or at least shallow for consistently good half forwards. Hopefully Kent and Petracca will get there, but I can't see Kennedy, Harmes and Garlett solving our half forward problems. If the opportunity presents itself to get back into the first round via a combination of picks or even getting another second rounder to trade in another player, I reckon we'll do it. But thanks for the update, LH.
  10. I'm producing a series on men's depression. 1 in 8 men will suffer from depression and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety at some point in their lives. Depression is the leading cause of death in men under 54 in Australia. Massive issue and we need to talk about it.
  11. Absolutely no way, mate. Other clubs don't like Melbourne supporters. Our supporters get up and about like any of the other big Melbourne clubs do. This year I had people bagging me again because we're finally relevant once more. When we're playing in finals people will be against us. And don't get me wrong, that's what I love. We have this amazing history where we've won the fifth most flags in an 18 team competition. If we win another to take us equal 4th, you watch us get off the canvas. If Goodwin, PJ and co get this right, I firmly believe we could be a powerhouse again within 5-7 years.
  12. I rate The Shield pilot finale as one of the great TV moments, along with the finale of S2E12 of Breaking Bad and the final episode of Twin Peaks. But I totally get you on the macho stuff, but I love the swagger. Ah yeah. Still never seen it. I should check it out. I've never got around to Luther either. That's not a Jimmy McGovern show is it? Haha, good segue. And I don't get the whole Idris would make a good Bond thing. James Bond is a product of White Europe. It just wouldn't make sense for me. Many of the characters around him could change and not be effective (ie Jeffrey Wright playing Felix Leiter), but it'd be another film unless he was White European. Yeah, fair enough. Each to their own. I love the 60s and 80s Bond films the best, but SPECTRE was my favourite since the 60s Bond's. Unpopular opinion in some parts. I really like all the Craig films though. Yeah, I produce, but have always loved film and TV. Do you still screenwrite?
  13. I've been touting the possible trade of Salem for a while, but with the caveat that I'd only do it for a Prestia, Mitchell type. I've changed my mind on this front and believe we should hold onto Salem (ie he's an untouchable) and continue to build through the draft. You only have to look at Sydney's recruiting over the past decade to see that you don't need to be in the first round to build an A grade midfield. Jack, Kennedy, Parker, Hannebery and Mitchell were all outside the first round.
  14. Haha, I was on the edge my seat to see Inception. I followed it from early principal photography, but was a little underwhelmed. I think that's where Nolan started to go downhill. Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar are all forgettable, but enjoyable enough on first viewing IMO. I'm a big Bond fan and I hope he one day gets to helm a Bond film. His style of narrative construction might discount him as the production company like to go with the less adventurous choices, although Marc Forster and Sam Mendes are a bit of a change in direction. If Mendes doesn't helm the next one (I expect him to), expect someone like Nolan to direct it.
  15. I prefer Oz to The Wire, but once you get used to the pace of the latter, it becomes gripping and binge-worthy. But The Shield IMO is the superior cop show of the early 2000s. True Detective season 1 was great. Season 2, not so much. HBO keep umming and ahhing about renewing for a third. They've cancelled it, then it's been back on, then on hiatus etc. Haven't seen Rake. Are we talking the original Australian series or the US remake? Cannot wait for the third season of The Affair and the second season of The Man In The High Castle. I love Transparent too, but haven't caught up with Season 3 yet. And the third series of The Fall is out soon too. Another Amazon show I've really got into is Eric Overmeyer's (The Wire amongst other things) adaptation of Michael Connelly's Bosch. That's a cop serial I like a lot. Has a few Wire regulars in it too. Oh and just found out Amazon are coming to Australia later this year. Very exciting. Much prefer their catalogue of original shows to Netflix. The Amazon production model is also the future.
  16. Haha, Dangerfield injured, OD, and we'll beat them down there.
  17. I've only been to IMAX a few times. The last time was seeing INTERSTELLAR in 70mm. Pretty amazing. Pity the film was just good and not brilliant.
  18. And just imagine how Geelong will go next year if Dangerfield doesn't have another outstanding, injury-free season. Given how dominant and consistent Dangerfield was all year and they still couldn't get to a prelim, if he drops off at all next year, they could well miss the 8.
  19. I can't be sure, but my recollection was that the wording was carefully chosen to make it sound like we'd ceased these relationships altogether. But perhaps I misinterpreted. That's been going on a bit lately.
