Completely dominated the stats, but we've overused it in the midfield and our forward fifty entries have been poor.
Our half forwards have really let us down too. Hannan, ANB, Brayshaw and Garlett haven't brought the required pressure though.
Jetta is an absolute star. We'd be down at half time if he wasn't in the team.
We need to clean up our disposals, move the ball quicker and play without fear.
Oliver quieter that quarter, everything Jones has done has been effective. Need a big half from Lewis, Hogan, Gawn and Oliver.
Going on the first round and a half (which is always tough):
1 - 4: Adelaide, Bulldogs, West Coast, GWS
5 - 8: Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong, Port Adelaide
9 - 12: St Kilda, Hawthorn, Richmond, Essendon
13 - 18 Collingwood, Fremantle, Brisbane, North Melbourne, Gold Coast, Carlton
I think there has to be real questions asked of St Kilda's gameplan. Is it sustainable over four quarters? Yes, they've got some young players in there, but they fall away quickly when they don't bring 100%. In some ways I think they've fallen behind us in terms of development, having been ahead arguably last season. This probably has a lot to do with our greater level of talent now starting to show.
They're not our only competition, but they're one of them.
And yes, tough call on Bruce. West Coast have had a pretty good go of it.
It does feel like our game last year against them, as someone else said.
Who cares? It's a lose/lose. If they win tonight people will say they didn't turn up last week. We'll get no credit. The ladder is the most important factor here.
Their midfield is weak for mine. Swallow allegedly wanted out last year and if he goes their midfield is bog ordinary. Ablett is done at the Gold Coast. He may reinvigorate himself at another club, but he's done at the Suns. Hall is a turnover merchant and Miller goes alright, but not specularly. Lynch, Wright, Saad, Kolajashni and Martin have great promise and in Lynch's case, he's a star. But you win it in the midfield and they're a long way from having a winning midfield.
If Brisbane start winning again they'll have similar crowds to us. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. If GWS can get up to 15-20,000 a week, that's better than a lot of the NRL teams in NSW, so I reckon the AFL would be happy with that.
The Gold Coast shouldn't have a team. Fullstop.
I'd be [censored] off if I was Leon Cameron. I reckon GWS have a real cultural problem, which may continue to cost them the flag, despite all their talent. They play like millionaires and lack that killer instinct. They should have beaten the Suns by close to 100 if they were serious flag contenders today. It should have been 50 or 60 points the difference at half time, but they took their foot off the pedal and let the Suns get a few in a row.
Why would you move a team from Western Sydney to Canberra? Bad call. There is growth potential in Western Sydney, where Gold Coast isn't big enough or football loving enough.
