  1. Disagree. I reckon FA will be our friend in the coming 3-5 years. It's how we'll smooth the edges of our list.
  2. See, I reckon he'd really struggle at Brisbane (I mean who wouldn't? ).
  3. I think you're underselling him a little bit, mate, but I think he'd struggle in a team with a lesser midfield. If he was 24 it'd be a yes, but with Weed and Hulett coming through, I'd prefer to develop from within there.
  4. Good post. The inexperienced players aren't the problem at our club, it's the senior players. Naturally, much of our inconsistency will be down to the inexperience on our list, but also the up and down form of players with experience who should be doing a whole lot better.
  5. I don't remember that, but thanks mate. Why was Vince's goal against Richmond never reviewed then? That was a metre and a half over the line, but was called touched and then never reviewed. The commentators didn't mention anything, so it wasn't even replayed. I was in a perfect position for that. It was well over.
  6. I'd have Oliver ahead of him, but Oliver is the sort of player, like Sam Mitchell, that will go unnoticed for years. Can I just say that for a billion dollar organisation, they are absolute amateurs at times. How can you not send a memo out to the clubs if the umpires are going to start focusing on new procedures or interpretations? The new interpretation of the deliberate rushed behind and the goal review after every goal - since when? Clearly they've both started this week. No communication out of AFL House though. Hopeless.
  7. How special are Petracca and Oliver going to be? 20s for Petracca and 18.9 for Clarry. At this stage, Truck makes too many little errors and Clarry rarely makes any errors. They'll both end up being different types of players, but we have two absolute gems there.
  8. Yeah, spot on, mate. This is the other side to the playing the PR game with building the foundations. It allowed us to stockpile some draft picks and build this midfield.
  9. Yep, fair enough. Well, Jack only makes our midfield deeper. So that's 10 that can play in the midfield if we land Prestia (I think we will). Guys like Kennedy, Kent and Harmes will also move through there. That's a lot of blokes who can play there, currently in our best 22. It reminds me very much of Roos' 2005 Sydney team. They had a lot of guys that could move through there and they've built the list to Roos' philosophy - players must be multi-positional in modern footy. Roos' term hasn't been flawless. I do wonder, like BB, whether we he could have flicked the offensive switch a bit earlier, but the list building appears to be first class.
  10. I just like typing this out. How's this for a midfield: Viney, Oliver, Petracca with support from Tyson, Brayshaw and even Salem. Not to mention older guys in Vince and Jones. And the addition of Prestia next year. That's a deep and talented midfield.
  11. Yeah, Jay Clark seems to have some love for Melbourne at the moment. Very odd.
  12. Well it is in a way, IMO, because our better players are younger. I'm sorry but even Gawn and Tyson have only 100 games between them. No excuse for Dunn or Vince though.
  13. This will work alright for us though. It allows Salem to continue working on his defensive and one-on-one game, which will help his contested ball winning ability and forward play in the years to come. He's got this year to play off half back and next year he'll probably be moved up the ground, if not sooner.
  14. TV rights deal. I'm sure all parties are waiting for that before signing. Given Hogan's importance and the likelihood of a lucrative deal coming his way, that will obviously impact on how much is left for the rest of them. But we won't know this for sure until the TV deal is formalised.
  15. Lol. Jack's too focused for that. The few times I have seen him in person, he just seems to be a total professional and I imagine him living and breathing football 24/7. I thought the commentary watching the replay was pathetic on this. They said something like they feel sorry for Rance for being bombarded for so many years. [censored] off. That shouldn't condone his cowardly act.
  16. And he hits targets with those handballs. Something a lot of our guys have struggled to do in recent times. He's been a breath of fresh air.
  17. Just gets his hands free every time. He has time that others dream of. I think the comparisons to Voss are quite apt, but there's quite a bit of similarity between he and Cripps. Our bloke is just doing it a lot earlier and has that quick burst of speed that Cripps doesn't have.
  18. I did do a Google beforehand to check that Tyson was pick 3.
  19. It's actually outrageous when you think about the access to top end talent our club has had*: Petracca: Pick 2 Oliver: Pick 4 Brayshaw: Pick 3 Viney: could easily have gone first round. Salem: Pick 9 Tyson: Pick 3 These guys will make a formidable group in two to three years time. Keep them all together, on the park and they will take us close to the ultimate. Big call, but these guys all have elite traits that compliment each other. I think we might just be seeing the formation of something special. Oh and the cherry on top at the end of this year? Dion Prestia. * It has certainly needed it though.
  20. Why do people insist on putting Kent in this group? Add in Salem and you've got the most exciting midfield in the comp if you can keep them together and on the park.
  21. Even more exciting is that we haven't even seen Petracca or Weiderman yet either.
  22. Add in Prestia at the end of this year. Oliver is really, really impressive. What excites me is that someone like Thomas Bugg has stepped up and really shown his hand too. It just takes the pressure off a young bloke like Oliver, because there are more hands on deck and a sharing of the load across many. We are now getting goals from midfield and look dominant at stoppages. When was the last time we could say that? Gawn certainly helps us give first use, but guys like Oliver will provide really stiff competition for Gus, Petracca, Bugg, Kennedy etc. Really like Oliver's decision making and game sense though. He knows where his team mates are and he knows which decision to take. Very excited about him.
  23. I like the look of Clarry. He's quick in and under and makes good decisions quickly. The pace of the game didn't seem too much for him. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
