  1. I like it. Fiercer is definitely the right word. #raisehell is evocative and powerful. I read #myheartbeatstrue as linked more to loyalty. That's not to say the club no longer values loyalty, but I think we want to become a fierce and feared football club. Don't all AFL clubs?
  2. IMO Greene's never been their best mid. He's played his best footy as a forward. He butchered it as a midfielder. I'll admit that Shiel v Treloar is a closer thing, but I'd lean towards Treloar. And as for Cognilio, his break out season was last year after Treloar had left. I'm not sure why people are running to defend SOS. Surely, all you need to do is look at the first three picks in the 2012 draft? He's been an unmitigated disaster as a recruiter and I only hope that the Carlton FD keep defending him like some on here do. Carlton need to get just about every pick right if they're going to get themselves off the bottom of the ladder, otherwise they're in big trouble. If GWS didn't have the unrivaled access to draft concessions that they did have, he'd have flunked out there and it would have been a lot more obvious. Can you imagine if Jason Taylor had picked Whitfield, O'Rourke and Plowman at 1, 2, 3? He would never work again, unless it was at Carlton - see Barry Prendergast as Opposition Analyst.
  3. Reminds me of Toumpas too. I was surprised by Prestia last night too. As some will know I've followed him for years and I wouldn't have called him a soft footballer or ordinary by foot, but he was a bit of both last night. Hoskin-Elliot, despite his goals last night, is an ordinary player.
  4. I think Carlton will win the spoon, but doesn't mean they won't give us a run for our money. I think a lot of it depends on Cripps. Is he still waaay off the pace as he was last week, or has he got some match fitness?
  5. Okay, but to say we won't need to pressure them is arrogant and it's arrogance that we haven't earned...
  6. Aish is soft. A couple of times he refused to go back with the flight last night. I wouldn't want him in my team. Reminds me of the sort of player we had in the early 2000s that would look great if all was smooth sailing, but when the pressure cranks up they'd crumble.
  7. I'd say Rowe will play on him, but I would have thought Hogan will have him for mobility.
  8. Fasolo didn't have an effective kick until the 4th term. His six kicks to three quarter time were ineffective. Both teams will struggle this year. Top 8 teams don't kick or handball at that level.
  9. IMO it's a little bit of all the parts that makes the vehicle move forward.
  10. Particularly if it's wet at all. They might get us a couple of times for height, but I think Goody would see their selection of 4 talls as a real opportunity to show the strengths of our zone defence, our run from defence and use our 9-man wave from half back.
  11. I disagree, mate. A little bit of football at the highest level helps, but I don't think it's necessary for any one coach to play 10 years at the highest level to know how to coach or strategise. It helps with empathy certainly, but it also locks out potentially terrific coaches IMO.
  12. If that's the case, how do you explain GWS losing their best mid in Treloar? Is that a sign of poor list management?
  13. I think Kent is a week off judging by media comments. We'll see.
  14. Yep, good point, mate. So basically, SOS is still an ordinary recruiter whose terrible record flies under the radar a bit.
  15. I think Harmes will come in to play a back role. His ability overhead will be needed. His kicking and decision-making may become problematic though.
  16. Hang on though, 55. Gold Coast had a good list but a putrid culture. Now O'Meara, Bennell and Prestia have left, they look ordinary.
  17. As is your want indeed, Biffboy. I'd say it's always better to leave the audience wanting more, rather than the alternative.
  18. Just had a listen myself. Well done guys. My one other comment would be related to duration. Having co-hosted a film podcast for years, I'd look at trying to tighten the runtime to between 45 mins-60 mins.
  19. I've been waiting for that for years. If you look at the innovative coaches of the past 15 years, they've all made Grand Finals and most have won flags from Malthouse, to Roos, to Clarkson, to Beveridge, to Thompson. The innovators who stumbled at the last hurdle, but oversaw incredibly strong teams are Lyon and Simpson. But Simpson could well win a flag this year. It's often a key attribute of the better teams and the rest of the competition then tries to emulate that innovation.
  20. Still panicked under the heat in tight against the Saints, but did a couple of nice things on the outside. Pretty overrated game for mine though, but he did contribute, which was pleasing. It sounds like Kent needs to work on a few things at VFL level, so unless Tyson replaces ANB, the latter will get another chance to prove himself this week. Should be interesting.
  21. Surely this thread should be called Clearance Oliver?
  22. Hickey has historically jumped into Gawn too, but we managed to navigate that last week and I think we'll have a plan to deal with Kreuzer doing this too.
  23. Yep. Dom is still one of my favs and is maligned very unfairly by some MFC supporters. If he was at Collingwood or Carlton, he'd be spoken of as a star. He's a B+ grader with an A+ grade capability IMO. Goal kicking midfielders are worth their weight in gold and Dom is that at his best.
