  1. Nah, he's not one of ours. We don't need to stick by him. Let's sink the boots in and put some more pressure on Hawthorn and him to succeed.
  2. Not to mention dense and completely lacking logic or empathy.
  3. I reckon most of us were saying this would be the case last year...
  4. Having found this out, I now don't want Hawthorn to finish in the bottom 4. I don't want one of our competitors to get a head start like this.
  5. The only concern upon closer inspection is our partnership with Vic Health. Should have kept his smoking to behind closed doors. Ah well.
  6. I think it's all down to how we respond next week. If we come out and pump Freo without Gawn, I think we could well go on a run of wins.
  7. Lol, it just occurred to me, if they finish on the bottom, they get the spoon but not the first round draft pick. Haha, well done, Clarko, you crazy little man.
  8. Keep asking the missus if she's going to jump ship and come over to the MFC.
  9. No doubt. Essendon are ordinary. Don't let their win over Brisbane count for much either.
  10. Is that [censored] Russell serious? Game on still? Nah, mate. Hawthorn are 54 points down at the end of the third, you moron.
  11. Hate both of them, but this is hilarious. These days I hate Essendon just a little more. Essendon will trouble more teams than Carlton, so it's a handy win for those fighting for the top 8. Likewise, Freo's win over the Dogs last night is potentially handy too. Also, ensures we don't take Freo lightly next week.
  12. Oliver would relish those conditions. Nice red and blue glasses, huh?
  13. I'm glad we got the Oliver v Parish one right. Parish is struggling in the wet and won't stand up in finals. Whereas Oliver... They're different classes.
  14. Are we talking Pedersen here, because his foot speed is a worry off half back. He's too slow. All very well to want a decent tall you can play multiple roles, but they don't grow on trees, as we know.
  15. I don't subscribe to this for the majority of teams though. Against 'a better opponent' than Geelong, it'll only be the top 4 and maybe one or two other sides. If you look at the top sides, with the exception of GWS with Mumford and maybe Adelaide with Jacobs (who is overrated for mine, but a decent ruck), this isn't the strong suit of many clubs. Certainly, we lose an advantage we had by having Gawn, but the second ruck 'problem' as people put it, doesn't phase me and it shouldn't phase the MC. And our coaches should already have a decent system to go to when another ruckman is dominating Max or we only break even in the hit outs or get beaten. That'll be the plan we go to. But I suspect some of this is cross purpose talking.
  16. I think we need to back our system. I don't want to see us select a player on the basis of potential injuries or a second ruck. Guys who can play multiple positions need to step up and take that second ruck position. I'll reiterate again, we would have won yesterday had we kicked straight and that's without a traditional second ruck.
  17. I have heard this from Collingwood supporters for the last few years. If we want to be contenders next year and counting, we need to brush this off and keep moving forward.
  18. This is going to read as a little weird, but I actually think for the long term development and benefit of the team, Gawn's injury in 2017 is actually a massive chance to test some things. Not just personnel, but game plan, game style and our coaching. Much prefer it happen this year, than when we're in our window and heavily reliant on Gawn to get us a flag, having never been truly tested without him. This year is now about developing ways to win without him and developing role players right the way through the list. It's Spencer's turn now. If you look at the injuries to the Eagles key backs a few years back that ensured they had to stick rigorously to their defensive 'system' (the so-called 'Web'), they were able to unearth some brilliant role players and intercept markers. There are countless other examples of players going down injured, leading to a team's increased depth and development. This should be seen as a great challenge and a perfect development opportunity. Great test for Goody in his first year too. Bit of a baptism of fire. I think he'll be fine. He's an innovator.
  19. You couId, but I don't like excuses given how much we dominated them yesterday, without Gawn and without Hogan and Lewis. We don't need one or two guys to win matches. We can win matches without them and we'll show it next week.
  20. I haven't read the article, but if that was the crux of his comments about Melbourne, then he's got no idea. Those guys not being in didn't lose it for us. I'm getting sick of reading this. Our own poor kicking cost us the game. Had we kicked straight, we would have won comfortably.
