  1. That's right. He couldn't break his way into the side. Werridee would have called him a depth player.
  2. I completely agree with having 10+ mids rotating through the middle and around the rest of the ground. The problem with Gus is exactly the same problem Viney has. Gus only has one position, maybe two at a stretch like Viney does. Gus has shown he can't play on a wing or up forward, leaving only the midfield and maybe half back as places he can't play. Likewise, Viney can only play middle and perhaps defensive forward, but he has more versatility in the middle than Gus does (inside or run with). I reckon we overrate Gus a bit. He really struggled at the top of 2018 before really getting going from the 5th or 6th round. So he's yet to put together even a full consistent season yet.
  3. Haha, you're in your element mate. Do you walk around talking to people in best 22s or do you speak in full sentences?
  4. What's the problem here then? None of us care about GWS' best 22, just ours.
  5. No. They've had 8 years of injuries. Tomlinson is terrible and only ever played a single game for GWS because of injuries.
  6. He was in their best 22.
  7. Not necessarily. The Gaff rumour is simply that the Eagles might look to move him on. Not that he was ever to be involved in the Kelly trade.
  8. Thanks mate. Do you have a link for that? I couldn't find it when I Googled before.
  9. Not for that long. It's true to say he's a utility, but not that he's a depth player.
  10. People are interested in improving the list. Do you think Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Harmes and Petracca can all play in the same midfield? Surely that midfield is missing at least two things. 1) polish & 2) pace. Viney and Brayshaw are too similar to Oliver, but neither are anywhere near as good. If we want to improve, let's look to broaden the skill set of our midfield and in doing so, make it less predictable. Right now, Viney, Brayshaw and Oliver is far too easy to coach against. Nothing particularly against any of the players, it's just they're too similar. If Gus is exploring his options, we need to make sure we get something back as a club that will add something different immediately to our midfield in 2020.
  11. A depth player doesn't play 24, 24 and 25 games. I don't think you quite understand the definition of a depth player. Depth players don't play every week.
  12. I think the trade'd be done if we'd been offered a draft pick of any kind.
  13. We're in a lot of trouble. Not only are we paying overs for Tomlinson, but we're losing our AA, Brownlow medalist utility God in Sam Frost.
  14. Yup, would much rather Ben King too, but Wright might be more gettable, cheaper and should be ready to bloom (23 years old, 66 games, 85 goals). My understanding is Wright's contract ran out at the end of this year.
  15. Yep, I don't know how many times it can be said, but you can have all the athleticism in the world, but if you don't have a football brain, you're not going very far. His kicking is very hit and miss too. But each to their own.
  16. We need blokes like Oliver, Viney, Harmes and Bradshaw to be doing the gut-running. Yeah, our wingers will do it too, but if the inside guys don't do it, we get smashed on the outside.
  17. And we're still talking about Frosty. Wow. What a slow trade period it is (as always).
  18. I don't really care if it means Ben King comes to Melbourne.
  19. Probably because even if you had just said 'hi', everyone would expect, with your sunny disposition and outlook on all things MFC, that you would likely say 'Melbourne are [censored] and the sky is falling'.
  20. I don't rate him anyway, but good luck to him.
  21. Wouldn't be surprised if he's involved a trade to us if we decide to split pick 3.
  22. He's pretty open about his disdain for our medical department is Shaun. He randomly told my uncle who he'd never met before that he was disappointed with the club earlier this year.
  23. We need a ready to go player if we're giving up Gus IMO. Cerra's age bracket fits nicely. I'd take one of those picks and Cerra, and say good luck, Gus.
  24. They made two in a row, but from outside of the top 4 every time. Absolutely had more success than us, but the bar is so low it's not even worth mentioning. Besides, no one is saying we're particularly relevant either.
  25. The 5-10 position is irrelevancy. Only going deep in finals makes you relevant.
