		The 2023 AFL Draft Thread

FWIW, his aunty and uncle are huge Melbourne fans.

		Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor

I mean, I'm not convinced we'll take Caleb, so we'll see.

		Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor

Daicos is pretty light. It's more about Caleb's aerobic ability to play wing at this stage. And giving us some competition for wing spots would be very welcome.

		Welcome to Demonland Koltyn Tholstrup

		He wasn't picked by JT...

		Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor

Agreed. I think the game has changed a bit again, to enable uncontested players to play a bigger role. My concern on that sort of player is that the game will invariably shift again to a greater need to win contests. That said, if JT and co pick him early, then I'll trust them.

		Daniel Curtin

I still really like O'Sullivan, but I'm warming to Curtin.

		Revisiting the draft

That was an excellent draft class though. This year's appears closer to 2013s.

Max Promises Tough Love this Preseason

What a trashfire this thread is. 🤣 Ah well. On ya everyone.

		Colby McKercher

He certainly doesn't like to take the tackle, he dishes off well, but as quickly as he can. That's why he's more Kelly than Trac or Clarry. Looks like he'll be a good player, but not my sort of player.

Very Josh Kellyesque. Can't see how we'll get him though.

		Trading pick 6

		Excellent. I hope so.

Aren't WC are being smashed in that deal given their F1 will be a top 3 pick?

		2024 Demons Jumper

Have I missed something. Wasn't Beyond Bank top back of the jumper? Have we lost them? And is Reid getting JJs jumper? Important number 23. 🤪

		James Leake

Interestingly enough, some had Lever pigeon-holed as a mid at one stage too.

		James Leake

Don't love his lack of size, but I'm always a bit sizeist as a human being. His intercept work actually reminds me of Jake Lever. In JT we trust.

		Phantom Drafts 2023

I'd be staggered if the Bulldogs made a bid on Read with all their talls...

		The Pick 1 Thread

A lot of these players were recruited before the professional scouting standard of the modern game. Lachie Neale you could understand had question marks due to height, but Jordan Dawson is a ripper pick at 56. 😳

But it depends how you rate the currency of exchange. If I'm paying overs and it's in Russian Rubel or Zimbabwean dollars, what matters is what I eventually get in exchange.

		The Pick 1 Thread

I'd argue it's a values proposition now mate. Draft picks or the player you eventually get. Six good or okay players versus one Christian Petracca or Clayton Oliver. I like the aggressive backing of our recruiting team. But it sounds like it's a moot point anyway.

		The Pick 1 Thread

People overrate picks too much. If Reid is the best player in the draft, do whatever it takes with your draft pick currency to get a deal done. We've put it out there, doesn't sound like it's going to happen now. @Mach5 is probably right and we need to pivot to facilitate the play for North, whilst strengthening our own draft hand.

		Nate Caddy

I think what Dwight is saying is that height is irrelevant. He doesn't think Caddy plays like a KPF. Hence Caddy vs JVR 'they're different players'.

		The Pick 1 Thread

I need to watch more of Duursma, because from what I have seen he seems soft. But he's valued very highly, and I rate your opinion too, so will need to do more research to convince myself haha.

		Nate Caddy

Good call mate. I guess it's that Weideman pick in a draft with all those talls that makes it seem like a worse record haha.

		Nate Caddy

Caddy looks a very ordinary kick to me. I don't get the wraps on him. I'd have Curtin or O'Sullivan at 6 IMO. I'd have O'Sullivan ahead, but that's just me. JT has a better record with mids than talls (Petty being the exception), so it'll be interesting to see who we rate in the top 10.
