GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
We just look so good across half back. We break down so quickly going forward.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
I am almost tempted to leave unless they switch it on soon. This is such a typical "keeping them in it" Game from us.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Just cut my eyes out. That was horrid and Uninspiring. The Eagles are so bad it's mesmerising and somehow we actually look like a bottom 4 side.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Lol so we get a get out of jail free card for the typical junk time goal, and then gift them one anyway with a dumb 50. It's like we want to fail.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
We are playing in second gear. Eagles are horrid.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
It already looks like men vs boys. I'm sorry but we should win by at least 10 goals.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
My only guess is that shutting the top level saves money. But also I reckon it's better for the atmosphere anyway if we are all bundled together if the crowd is small. Reminds me of when we'd play random home games at Optus Oval and all be grouped together behind the goals.

Crowd will be under 10k. Looked way more full when we got 8k vs GWS.

The Brody Mihocek Thread
He could be our Brown recruit.

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Not really. Sharp is a much better sub option. Spargo is a good inclusion in your top 22 in a team that is performing well. He compliments others. In a team performing poorly he is useless. It's no surprise his best years were 2021 and 2018 (then again they were most of the teams' best years).

And yet here you are.

Time to go Goody?
As bad as we're going, the players would have to flat out protest and not try for us to lose. And even then it might be hard to lose. We'll win by 50+. I honestly think it would take more effort to lose than what it would take to win. If we lose then he'd probably be sacked on the spot. It is beyond comprehension that it would happen. It would demonstrate that he has both lost the players and quite literally doesn't know how to coach.

From anger to action: A call for constructive feedback to leadership
Measured and firm. In my view it is proactive before we reach a point of no return. Perhaps it has 12 months late, a more ruthless club may have acted sooner. But we are really on the brink here. I can't see Goodwin coaching next year. The comment about the bleeding of members and sponsors was also very concerning. We are down, what, 10k members on last year? I wonder how sponsors feel when they signed up post flag and multiple top 4 finishes, top players wanting to leave, embarrassing losses, huge drop in members... You'd be hard pressed to find a more potent correlation between on and off field performance, especially in such a short space of time. Only Melbourne lol

Okay so what is the "action"? What are you asking of people? To be more "constructive"? Genuine question.

Brad Greens letter to members
I'm not dirty about not winning another flag. They are hard to win. I am filthy about not winning a single final, and not making a Prelim. Otherwise I agree.

Brad Greens letter to members
I really don't understand the point of the letter if it's not discussing change or impact. Telling us you care and the club has standards is a given. I don't know who is giving the executive team advice on this sort of stuff. They write the letter for a a vocal minority who say things like "Where is our President" and "What is the board doing?". If they react after every bad loss we'd have 20 coaches a decade. Sunday was certainly unique and demanded a response in some way but honestly it would have been better to put together some sort of video from the captain or coach talking about the game and what went wrong. Letters like this are just "big daddy" coming along for the sake of it. I don't get it.

Time to go Goody?
Goodwin has coached Melbourne in 37 games decided by a goal or less. 15 wins 1 draw 21 loses Since 2022 (17 games) 6 wins 11 loses Currently in the midst of a 6 game losing streak in games by a goal or less. And have lost 9 of the past 10. If you want to extend it to 10 points the record gets worse. 47 games by 10 points or less 15 wins 1 draw 31 loses Since 2022 (22 games): 6 wins 16 loses 23% of all games coached by Goodwin have been decided by 10 points or less and he has a 32% winning margin in those games. Not sure how this compares vs rest of the league but I am sure I have heard it reported elsewhere that his coaching record is poor in close games RELATIVE to the amount of close games we have (ie. Some coaches may have a worse record but they may have only coached in a fraction of the amount of close games). I think to be fair you have to look at coaches with at least 100 games coached.

Yes but replace all of that with "Hahaha how [censored] is Melbourne?" Yes I work with imbeciles.

Go back some times this week and watch out comeback game against Geelong in 2021
Lever's role vs Geelong 2021, Brisbane 2023 and Carlton 2022... all very close, important wins that he played a huge role in. We miss his leadership more than people realise. Definitely more than we miss May.

Imagine being a player or working at the club after that loss and then having to show up to work in... Cranbourne.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
It happens though. You play in the moment. A draw is still better than a loss. Still hollow but at that moment scores were level. You never want to lose. My dad always says that a good team is one that still finds a way to win even when challenged, irrespective of how much of a lead they gave up. Yes we gave up 9 goals but really all we needed was 1 goal (or even a behind). I know it doesn't change anything but the final moment is symbolic of the entire disaster. It is a culmination of moments in the worst final quarter in AFL history.

Time to go Goody?
It might have been the head of comms making a sudden decision to remove some posts. In my experience I don't think there is anything in that. It is just risk and brand mitigation 101. Do what you can to minimise damage as much as possible. No matter how small.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Wheatley's intro on SEN just then almost turned me into a Saints supporter. I am almost happy for them if not for the fact their joy comes at our misery. But he made a very good point. "That was the dumbest 8 seconds of football ever. Why were Melbourne's midfielders all at the centre circle? They just needed to be in the square. Why was Viney smack bang in the middle? He could have sat further down the line. How could WM start in the middle with 8 seconds left and then still kick the winning goal?" It is beyond comprehension. You cannot explain or coach that away. It is a career ending 8 seconds. I suspect Gawn, Viney, Petracca and Oliver, all of their days are club leaders are numbered.

I just played Red You're telling me the head coach has no say or input on the team he coaches?
