  1. It's definitely not rocket science, but when your team can't even compete and still loses by 100 points, suddenly building a team and applying pressure on game day is like trying to manufacture a wormhole.
  2. My concern with Roos is that the only level of accountability will be through retrospective critique, because he won't be sacked. Only his coaching reputation will take a hit, not his actual employment. Not to say he should be sacked, but Bailey was sacked for a lot less and Neeld's coaching performance was no worse than what we've seen from Roos in 1.3 seasons. Throw a better score average, higher percentage, smaller win margin at me, but you'd expect some improvement because we were so bad. We're still pretty bad though. Is it improvement at all if those previously in a similar position have improved more?
  3. But they train really hard guys!
  4. Bulldogs are playing like a top 6 team for most of this year. Team play, accountable football, confidence in one another, urgency, drive, aggression. They will smash us by 10 goals. Bookmark it. We haven't turned the corner yet to beat them. They've turned that corner. We just need to pray we beat the Saints,Carlton and Brisbane.
  5. Weren't our midfield issues addressed by adding Vince, Tyson, Cross, Vandenberg, Salem, Brayshaw, etc? Our midfield this year is as bad as it's ever been. We're winning more clearances yet evidently even with a better forward line we're still the worst team going forward. I have no idea what the issue is. we are not as bad as the performances we put in. I still think our midfield is far too defensive to give us a genuine chance to hit the scoreboard. What do Jones or Vince have to learn anymore, really? I feel that Roos needs to loosen the hatchet a bit and let our mids run a little more rampant. We're tagging and trying to hold teams down but then we're not damaging enough. Since 2012 our coaches have tried to teach defensive tactics. It shouldn't take this long for 150+ gamers to get it. Going through the motions and getting 25 possessions is one thing. But what are they doing with the ball?
  6. No, women are great. But they'd get crunched in a professional AFL match.
  7. Didn't you get the memo? They've been training "really hard"
  8. Beating bottom 8 sides and getting flogged by top sides achieves nothing. If this was the first, second or even third year that it's been happening, then that's fine. But playing like actual losers from the opening bounce is something the club should have left behind long, long ago. You can't justify yesterday's showing with "they are the reigning premiers", or, "we've played the top 3 teams all in a row". That doesn't really justify the actual effort or lack thereof. What will we have learnt if we beat St Kilda? Will we know more about this team then, say, if we'd stayed with Hawthorn and lost by 5-6 goals? We won't. We will just know we're better than another bottom side. We can't just keeping waiting to see how we perform against bottom sides. We beat poor sides in 2010, 2011 with the occasional win against mid-tier teams, but we consistently didn't give a puff against top sides. You won't turn a corner if you keep doing that. It'll just be a downward spiral. Before eventually you get spit out the bottom of the porn industry with no prospects and no hope.
  9. If someone pays 600k for him, it'll be a blessing in disguise for us. Another top 10 pick coming our way. Oh, the question. Because we are tanking, duh!
  10. Well, yeah. Draft position determines worth. The higher you are, the more valuable you are. The more potential. Pick 57 is a filler pick. If he becomes something, awesome, if not, it's not like we expected him to.
  11. I think he'd benefit more from playing out of the square with space in front of him. ATM Hogan is a far better target across half forward, because ATM Dawes brings every single ball to the ground, and we don't have the crumbers to clean up the mess. At least with Hogan you know it'll either be a mark, or he has the capacity to follow his ball up. Dawes either falls to the ground over his opponent's feet, or the ball is punched clear because he isn't quick enough to get space between him and his opponent. Collingwood teams of 2009, 2010 made him looked good because they were stacked across the middle and the wing. With our current team he is a massive liability and we need more efficiency across half forward because we so rarely go forward. I'd even rather Garlett pay further up the ground than Dawes, because 9 times out of 10, a Dawes contest ends up with the opposition cleaning up his mess and going the other way, and that is so dangerous where he is currently playing, because it's an easier transition from that half forward line. He has been nothing short of awful, really. He isn't the player we need.
  12. I actually think him leaving would hurt us more than Howe leaving. He'd have polled well in the B&F voting in 2 of the 3 games he's played. Dawes and Howe wouldn't have factored in any of the games they've played.
  13. I want to see how GWS play interstate against top teams in the latter half of the season. GC started off similarly strong last season. But GWS have looked scary. I hate them. Freo by a country mile.
  14. He's not AFL ready. I certainly can't see him ever being AFL ready, because he panics. Someone here called him Jimmy "Tampon". Seems about right. I think that above all else, he doesn't have the mental capacity to make it at the top level. I don't question his skills or commitment, but the mind is a crazy thing and if you're mentally drained or incapable, you can be the most talented player ever and it won't matter, you'll crumble. Seeing him cry, seeing him absolutely break down whenever there is the chance of contact, he simply does not have the mind of an AFL footballer. If you can't see that, you're delusional. Morton showed class and skill, much in the same way Watts has. And like Watts, and he been managed better, he'd have been a champion. Toumpas was the wrong player to bring into a fractured club, because he's a fractured player. We needed a strong body and mind of a Wines. Toumpas was the last type of player we needed. That much is clear now.
  15. We still have the 2nd worst percentage in the league, can't score, can hardly defend apart from 2 or 3 players, can't run both ways, can't tackle, can't hit handball targets, can't string together more than 5 possessions, struggle to get inside 50, struggle to get into space, struggle to win games. Changes? Mate, you could bring in God himself, and even he'd miss a target playing for this rabble. Roos hasn't impressed me. I think the improvements we've made have been natural evolutions of where the team was, because it was so bad it couldn't possibly get worse. What scares me is that we can't really hold Roos to account, and instead of coaching for his job, he's coaching for his reputation, which let's be honest will always be remembered for what he did at Sydney. I'm still holding this club to 8 win expectations this year. If we can't do that, it's going to crash again. Bookmark it. Because Jamar and Cross are going to retire, our depth is shocking. Howe is gone. Our best player is a bloke who barely broke the top 100 in the league. Our young kids are thrown into development black holes. Toumpas will be delisted, which will set us back even further. A waste top 5 pick. I didn't expect is to beat any of the past three teams we player, but we still played like the worst team in the league, not a team that should be playing finals in 2016. I could see a turnaround at the start of the year. We're 7 weeks in and now I actually believe the turnaround will never come, that we're destined to be just making up the numbers for another decade.
  16. Why do you feel sorry for him? He's going to get seven figures at Freo.
  17. Our backline is fine, but Howe is Frawley 2.0 and is clearly playing to run the year out. He's gone at year's end. Interesting that last year Roos moved Frawley forward and then he left, and now Howe goes back after playing forward and is destined to leave. It's like Roos is "banishing" these players in an effort to prepare the other end of the ground for their departure. Our forward line has potential. Garlett has been good with deplorable delivery, and has played his role. He needs to straighten up his set shot and be more damaging, but we couldn't expect more from him, really. It's not like Farmer was a great set shot (unless he was taking a shot to beat us...) Hogan, well, no comment needed. You can build a team around him. Our midfield is *still* shocking, probably the best in the league. Jones goes through the motions. Vince hacks it. Tyson hacks it. Cross hacks it. Vince and Cross have been "Melbourne'd". Either Tyson is injured, or he's also "going through the motions". He does nothing much of genuine value, like Jones. We lose the plot across half-back and half-forward, and it's because we *still* don't run two-ways. Our entire middle section is constantly chasing, never demanding the ball, and so therefore we can't drive forward. This is why we're last with inside 50s. Do we have bad players? Do we have bad coaches? Is it a bad mindset? WHAT IS IT? I don't know anymore. I have zero answers. I just can't see what it is about this team, where it's bad is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. I just don't get it.
  18. He has football smarts and reads the ball well. He's still just an average footballer in a bad side, but I've liked him in 2014 and 2015. Didn't deserve to get dropped this week. Why Dawes doesn't get dropped instead of him is beyond me.
  19. Jones was expected to go to another level this year. He went through the motions even in big losses in past years. This year he has gone unsighted three weeks in a row. Well below his best and being found out as a decent footballer in a bad side. People need to realize this. We need more than Jones. He's just a soldier. He's the opposite extreme of Watts, but we have nothing in the middle. No balance. Last year I said he was tradeable alongside a top pick for a powerful midfielder. Everyone laughed at me. He doesn't actually make us better. I know it's harsh and I love Jones, but we need winners. He's a loser.
  20. Zero accountability, no confidence. that handball from H to Jones sums up our done. I'm done.
